"Sam.. Your hormones have staged a coup d''etat on your brain!". Fantastic line, perfectly delivered. Shelley Long excelled as Diane on "Cheers" - no doubt about it.
@@armandomorales3809 You obviously don't know what a psychopath is. Diane was neurotic, certainly, buy take a closer look at the other denizens of that bar. The majority of people consider themselves "normal" because they are used to the company of similarly afflicted souls.
+Jim Gallagher. Whether she was "a lot like" her or not, you don't know much about acting or actors if you think one of them can be effective only when the character reflects his/her personality. However, I agree Shelley Long was one of the best.
Good for you. Never understood how people could stand Carla. I blame the writers, of course. The only character on TV more repulsive was Karen on Will & Grace.
I don't know what really happens behind the scenes and all the politics. But I agree that Diane was "the best" on that series. I really liked everything about her. And no offense to Kirsty Alley, but no way did she even come close to comparing with Diane. I never like Rebecca Howe - always bitchy, a chip on her shoulders, and otherwise just kind of stupid (and rarely funny)..
Trying to watch the post-Diane years on reruns as I stopped watching the show religiously after she left. Actually, the most painful character for me to watch was Sam. I have to remind myself that ultimately, Cheers was a comedy and Sam's "incurable sex addiction" was played for laughs. He remained a decent caring friend to his barmates, but I sure missed seeing him try to figure out how to make someone else happy and make sacrifices; Diane tried to do the same. It was probably for the best that Shelley Long left, but boy, it was so much fun while it lasted!
The one character I really can't stand. She delivers everything the way I would expect a 12yo to say 'hurumph'. But that magna line was a flash of good
Never mind. I just got it. btw, you couldn't stand Diane, the most original character not just on Cheers but on any TV sitcom, because she was too smart for you. And Shelley Long played her brilliantly.

Super writing acted out so well, absolutely fantastic Diane.
“Oh, couldn’t make Summa?”
Love that line so much!!!!! What an on brand burn from Diane 😂 thank you for your compilations!
You're so welcome!
Stephanie Roxas Happens. Hi.
And... in character, few if any at Cheers seem to get it, but Gary clearly knows he just got insulted, and well.
Thank you for the memories. The great 1980s. 😍🇵🇹🥃
I watch this show from the first season to the last, then watch it again. And I'm always nostalgic. also it makes me feel sad about getting old.
Shelley Long was the only reason I ever watched Cheers. When she left, I was gone, too. 💔
same
same here, I turn it off after season 5
Loved the look on Carla's face when Diane bowled a strike.
I just realized that cliff is ham from toy story
Funny, I never loved looking at Carla's face.
Diane was a huge reason for cheers first five years of being a hit...Ted Danson too...
Thank you !
You're welcome!
She’s so gorgeous ❤
I was a child when this show on air. Watching now I want to say I was an adult!
Shelley was the best. I think she must've been a lot like Diane to have played the character as well as she did.
Then she had to be a psychopath

@@independentfilmchannel1476 nah Diane was a phycopath.
@@armandomorales3809 Okay, then I'll just assume you're 12yo at best.
i would’ve lost it if she actually hooked that bowling ball.
Love Cheers, love Diane, detest abusive Carla...

You group those other travesties in with Cheers? That one's hard to explain.
Kirsty Alley, watch it and weep. Following on from Shelley Long was an impossible ask; and you never came remotely close.
I think Kristy did a great job in Cheers.
Two different characters and both were played by great actors

Love Cheers apart from making a joke about mental health
