All vehicles come with silencer / muffler. The buses sound different as diesel engines are turbo charged now where as earlier in India , they were not. Also with EGR , the exhaust gases are recirculated to reduce emissions. All these things reduce back pressure. It's not possible to have a high flow unrestricted , resonating exhaust of the yester years because of new regulations.
