This song is basically that moment when you’re walking across the street, get hit by a car, and walk out of the hospital only to get hit by the exact same car
name checks out
@@tigertoxins584 loser has been taking too many hits from the same car from what it seems.. /jelly
When you wake up in the hospital and look at the bed next to you, the same exact car was lying there the whole night just for you.
highway hunter
Pretty accurate can confirm
Theme of "oh shit this is a boss battle not an npc"
Hylics is a great example of why I like video game music, it gives composers such a wild selection of prompts to work with and when somebody answers the prompt of "boss music" with something like this it's the coolest shit in the world
when ur casually walking down a white corridor and a car rams into u
it's so relatable ikr
@@GenericSeal well, it was supposed to be an enemy in the scrapped/cut urban area. i guess mason just threw him in the labyrinth as a weird design choice. i kinda like it.
@@oviouslyovert i thought it was super funny
"Something approacheth!"
This song is intense as hell but the distorted electric guitar and brief moments of major key are also kind of relaxing
I like how the battle music in Hylics just lets you chill and relax while you plan out your options
The Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner fan in me loves this song
Crazy thing is, I had not heard of that game or that OST until I saw it mentioned here like 3 times. I can see some similarities. Musical colloquialisms, man. They run deep!
@@chuck_salamone you should emulate them, or purchase them in a ps3, they're pretty rad
also play smt Nocturne
Same here! I'm a big fan of DDS and Hylics 2 has a fantastic soundtrack too, it's so nice to see more people who enjoys both soundtracks.
Same! I really dig the grunge vibes (is it grunge? I dunno music) that they both give off, with the heavy guitar and bass that the two OSTs have going on
@@wowthatsprettycoolhuh its like noise rock, or stoner or smth like this
i wanna marry this song he seems like a nice guy
He is.
i am gay for this song
This song gives me such warm memories, I always think of the Summer I first played Hylics 2 on launch. Bringing food home from work, streaming my playthrough, and completing it was some of the best fun I had hanging out with my online friends. We were in total awe of the powerful gestures, chill battle/town themes, and crazy claymated sprites... Looking back on it, it was probably among the most memorable chapters of my life. Sharing that experience with my friends was more than worth the $15 necessary to play the game :)
Thank you, Mason and Chuck for making this trippy and fun little rpg. It's probably one of my favorite games to play anytime I'd like to just idle or relax. Nothing quite compares to the same aesthetic this game knows how to capture both visually or audibly and it'll never fail to bring me back some good spirits on a rainy day. Cheers!
Thank you for playing! So glad you think of your experience with such fondness. More to come!!
@@chuck_salamone MORE TO COME!? Woohoo!!! Thanks for getting back to me, I’ll be looking forward to the next big thing you and Mason cook up with pleasure!
Yoooo!!! Same for me dude
Same for me, long summer weekend nights with friends on discord with this game accompanying whole experience.
Truly warm memories.
I love the contrast between this theme and Them’s Fighting Words! This one makes me feel like Wayne and the crew are taking the fight much more seriously than they usually do, even though, by nature, the fight still eases in some soothing and wavy undertones that put you into a sense of flow, perfect for the turn based strategy combat that Hylics 2 offers!
Welcome to Hylics 2, we've got:
- red dancey boi
- W O R M
- Red Hyness
- aaaaaand car.

Star Allies reference?! A gamer of culture!
Really loving how there's tunes from Xeno Arcadia and Fancy Meat Computer blended seamlessly into this one, probably more that I'm missing
Leitmotifs for days, indeed.
@@chuck_salamone 😎 the Tambourine leitmotif
@@boujeemelon7305 Damn right.
You also forgot they added tunes from them fighting words my favorite
This game is really something, isn't it. So glad to be stuck in this immeasurably small fart of a time window to be here to witness it. Thanks
You summed up how I feel about hylics
I think every time period has people making great, out there stuff like this, you just have to put in the time to find them
I'm happy to be alive at this very moment to experience this game.
But you can play it as long as people preserve steam games?
Nitro Rad's video made me want to come listen to this
Same!
Me three.
Can't get the image of Tyro and Viewax slowly lurching toward me out of my head whenever I listen to this
Mason and Chuck are quite literally a musical match crafted by gods themselves. I can't get enough of these tunes, they're like fucking drugs to me. But in a good way, y'know?
drugs were never bad, you were just forced to view it subjectively.
edit- i was wrong lol
certain drugs can break your perspective of the world when on them.
If you do them too much, this goes for even when you’re OFF the drugs.
@@tigertoxins584 Say that to my dad who raped me on a biweekly basis since I was 5 years old whenever he used heroin or crack and beat my mom constantly for not letting him use her money for heroin until she ended up killing herself, and then I was raped every day until I was 16 because he died of an overdose and I was put into foster care, to another family with parents that did drugs and beat me 🤷
@@xMrPhantofulx okay man, thats cool
@@tigertoxins584
that’s not cool… that’s the opposite.,.
This song is so awesome! Perfect boss fight music.
I just realized a lot of the Devils from Dorohedoro wouldn't look out of place in Hylics
@@alexanderkorol677 Haha! You're right about that. lol
this sounds like someone playing the guitar for their life
Basically, lol.
Would rlly love to see this game availible on the Nintendo Switch
x2
Yep
Would buy it again on the switch
I feel that it'd absolutely perform well on the switch!
omg , true
the platform sequecions would be so much better
this theme genuinely hit all of my senses at once when i first heard it in game. its fantastic.
I'm glad I got to see this game on Vinesauce but even with Vinny's playthrough I feel like due to the pure insanity spewed from this fountain of context, the cocktail of gameplay experience is ever-evolutionary and enjoyable throughout our continuum in this meager realm.
Basically, I wanna play it myself. There's so much to appreciate and the soundtrack really steps it up from the first game. Great work overall!
Alas, I have become accustomed to this shabby planet.
One thing I really like about this track is how many turn based rpgs have pretty over the top intense fight tracks, and while those are great, hylics 2 has pretty chill songs, but even then they still have some edge to them so they still feel like fight songs
Like some 1970s psychedelic-prog rock nightmare stuff going on here. Absolutely LOVE IT!!
I love this track SO MUCH just the first few first secs already get me pumped for the boss
if i ever learn how to properly play the guitar i WILL play this song on it. such a wonderful mixture of prog rock/psych rock/punk rock. it's just a love letter to so many different genres and it's so TASTY
genuinely one of the best songs i've ever heard in a video game. feels like drugs
It's incredible to me someone that's so creative and artistically talented like Mason Lindroth can create an awesome art project AND competent/fun RPG usually they'd have someone do all the coding and game design bits for them. Impressive
I have to wonder Chuck's influences on these tracks, they resonate well with me.
If you are in the discord server, I answer these types of questions all the time! See you in there.
@@chuck_salamone guess i gotta join then
thank you!
@@chuck_salamone the entire soundtrack has that Pink Floyd vibe to it.
@@sirrealism7300 Definitely, I can hear a bit of Dogs on some parts.
This ost is a masterpiece
1:12 I love this
The only thing i still desire is a switch port so i can experience the weird and wonderful world on the go.
Steam Deck my dude
I imagine this being the background music to a fight scene in a wicked psychedelic stage play

Wow, it would be crazy if hylics gets added to the switch and wayne becomes a costume in smash?.
the string work on this is incredible, the most chilled out boss song that still kicks ass at the same time
Hylics, LISA, Undertale..the holy trinity of indie rpg games.
No love for OFF?
Whoa didnt expect LISA to make the list
@@danielnicik7730 What??😤
I will bargain for deltarune instead of undertale
What about OFF?
For some reason, the visual association I get whenever I hear this song is the Patrick cult scene from the SpongeBob musical when they're all decked out with these really hippie looking garbs.
Gives me pretty solid pink Floyd vibes
its listening to pink floyd while youre high but you dont need to be actually high
@@mayday6468 That's just what it's like listening to Floyd for me. The first time I listened to Ummagumma I tripped just from the music and nothing else. Unless they accidentally spilled acid on the disc in the CD factory.
Love that the beginning sounds almost exactly like She Don't Use Jelly by The Flaming Lips. Thanks, Vinny.
Oh yeah! Them is some rad vibes!
*puts up those devil horn finger thingies*
NitroRAD vibes
perhaps the tambourine in the opening is a little nod to Under The Rotting Pizza from FFVII?
That’s a really, REALLY good observation! I grew up on that music and I immediately found myself smiling when I finished this track because that opening reminded me of that FF7 tune. I’ve met Nobuo Uematsu before, he’s such an incredibly nice and humble man. I’m glad his influence made its way into my music!
to focus on the big target? or eliminate the goons?
always the goons first
Depends on the fight.
Nuke all of them instead
goons
charge up WAVE ARTIFICE
This is easily my favorite track, but at the same time, it's so hard to pick just one.
Yea
Edit: maybe
this feels like doing a really hard and shitty group project, but your group members actually give a damn about said project and work with you
This is such a great track
That Bass.
when i finally got to viewwaxes boss fight i was totally expecting to hear them's fighting words again, but was hit with THIS and my jaw literally dropped. i spent half an hour on the boss cuz i kept pausing just to listen to the music. also cus i kept dying. maybe. I FUCKING LOVE HYLICS RAAAGH
I love how the cover of the ost is The charater playing music to the group of hands as if to please the gods
This is a banger from another dimension, hardcore
this goes so hard fav battle theme
biggest stick i ever heard
Excellently done boss theme.
1:36 Be hitting different
I love the feeling of fear you get from the intro, just seeing bosses for the first time pairs really well.
thats a good song
Yep, i'm officially addicted to this song
Chuck Salamone, why do you have to make such amazing music >:0
Years and years of practice....plus the fear of leaving this world without doing enough awesome shit to be remembered for.
@@chuck_salamone well,i think youve done far too much awesome shit!!! Such masterpieces as well))
@@chuck_salamonehey Chuck, you just made me call my guitar teacher to start guitar lessons. you're the reason why I'll finally pick up guitar after 10 years of hesitation. cheers man, love you and Mason! hoping to be 10% like you two in the future.
There's a part that sounds very similar to DDS.
You mean digital devil saga right?
@@Stephen-vq1wc Yup. The part at 0:30 sounds like one of the town themes in the first game IIRC.
@@leadintea oo
I already thought it sounded like somewhere, DDS has a awesome soundtrack

Fav song of tha game 👌
Some groovy tunes here.

Can’t wait for you to hear what’s coming up next.
@@chuck_salamoneAnd I can’t wait to hear it, music man!
I would love to hear a “new era” effect on this
Fave music from Hylics 2.
What plays on every dog's mind every time they went to the forest
Why does Viewax do the conga
Similar to something that Pink Floyd would do, 10/10

WER NER WER NER WER NER!!!
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar
"for you"
Anyone else just wanna hear The original Hylics ost Redid By Chuck salamone?
I would love to do that, but I feel like that would be such a difficult task and an injustice upon Mason’s initial vision. It’s great as it is. I do love my role in forging ahead on the future sounds of Hylics, though!
@@chuck_salamone im sorry, should have realized.
Im getting 👄ANGRY that I cant buy the FLAC files for this anywhere, I want to be able to buy it 👆FAST. Else I will ✊SQUEEZE somebody
Keep an eye out on bandcamp. Also, all streaming services in less than two weeks.

I find it funny that you're just casually encountering Viewaxes in the last area
Are there any plans to put the OST on Bandcamp? It rules and I'd love to be able to take it with me!
that's what she said
This sounds like something that would be on MTV in like 1993.
The bass is so good holy shii I’m gonna cover this

When you're trying to beat a boss and the boss hits you with a big stick
I've heard that if you speak softly, you can carry an even bigger stick.
Sometimes this soundtrack has The Pillows vibes (especially FLCL ost)

Music to run for your life in a dead mall to
I wish this game was on switch
IM CRYUING WHY DID THEY NAME THE SONG THJAT
because the bosses have a bigger stick than you do
Yew Nears....
Stakerized!
Every song on here reminds me of the show 'Trigun' look it up its great

Actually, this soundtrack was created by music artist Chuck Salamone. He and Mason collaborated to make the soundtrack sound like it still related to Hylics in a way that sounds better than the first game. ^^

2:00 hits different, kinda reminds me of cryiak a bit
I loved this song
But then... _THE WORM_ came along...
Aaaand now I get traumatic worm maze flashbacks :)
we need to make this the new Meme song
I love this soundtrack. But the only problem I have with it is that it isn’t seemless. It fades out in the end and then it loops a little bit. I need some of that tasty loops.
I wish I could make the music louder in this game.
could imagine a music video where it starts off with the trio of Wayne, Pongorma and Dedusmuln staring down Viewax, followed by a panning change to the Motorhunter getting the car ready panning again to see the big bug thing (Fonthintrelpine) waking up; Odozeir's and Carsoro's shadow begining the ritual. When the music is building up trio gets their first attacks on Viewax, but then at 1:12 the music kicks in and the camera pans to Fonthintrelpine charging them down in the tunnels, switch to Motorhunter trying to runover Somsnossa, then to the dance that Viewax does as rippling needles go everywhere. As the music dies down Motorhunter is defeated by crashing after Wayne snapped and dodged; leaving only Viewax and Fonthintrelpine against a beat up team. As the music kicks into gear again the trio quickly snap in unison to defeat Viewax leaving Fonthintrelpine to hasten and enrage as either Dedusmuln or Somsnossa is defeated. The battle rides out for the entirety of the swell; relaxing back as the party showdowns with Odozeir and Carsoro; however as the music begins to end Lord Gibby Redivivus comes from his coffin behind the team as he begins to play with a stick of dynamite as Wayne utters "Aww crap".
I hope Chuck and Mason see this, I've have royally enjoyed Hylics 2, and it is one of the best RPGs I have played in a while! Though Fonthintrelpine is a boss I want to put out of my mind...
This song kinda reminds me of the Dilbert opening theme by Danny Elfman.
Anyone know where I can finds the soundtrack from the first game thanks in advance
It should be on the same channel
I was really excited to play this game but I cant because my pc is trash :(
This gives me digital devil saga vibes
