They're different beasts. RUclips won't let me post link, but google lemur vs. osc for gearslutz article. There is also a different breed of MIDI controllers for iPad (like me!) that allow you to create and edit your layout on the iPad. For now, however, if you need the physics engine (basically an awesome way to produce LFO), Lemur is the only option (for now).
from the manual: USB MIDI (CoreMIDI) • USB MIDI is the lowest latency way to connect Lemur. • Liine recommends using iConnect MIDI, although many other devices will also work. Be sure to familiarize with the specifications of your MIDI interface. The Alesis iO Dock, for example, blocks all SYSEX messages. • The Apple Camera Connection Kit and a compliant MIDI interface may be used.
@mcsg27 I'm aware that maschine already have VST parameters mapped to its knobs. The problem is that eight knobs arent enough to control some of the more in depth features of a synth like routing, step-sequencer or multi-segment envelope generators. What I was thinking(just so we both know we understand each other) was; I would have FM8 in pad 1 and Massive in Pad 2. When I hit pad one and press the button to view the synth, lemur opens up my template for FM8 and controls fm8. Same for pad 2
@ThEJekX yes...in the next installment, we'll go over MIDI routing in the computer with ableton live...you could use most of the same process for traktor.
Is interesting that everything ive seen about dubspot is about software and computer based stuff... its a shame that not even schools have hardware... some modular craziness!
I have a unique situation, I'm not a big fan of everybody using Apple products when it comes to mixing. So here's my situation: I asking for a surface for Christmas and an iPad Air 2. I think if you're smart you know why I'm asking for an iPad. Could you download Lemur on OSX on Microsoft and edit it, while connecting to an iPad?
I CREATED my own template but so far i haven`t been able to make ableton live recognize any signal from it, eventhough the other templates work just fine, what do you think i should try?.
hello. newbie here, would this be an adequate alternative for a a real MIDI controller such as an mpd32?? i don't have the money to buy it yet, so would this give the same amount of control?
like when you buy the app on the mac its like 50 bucks so then how do you get it on the ipad do you have to buy it again cause that would suck im new to the whole ipad thing ones coming in the mail
@MrJakewoodall at this point, lemur. I used touchOSC for years, but unfortunately Lemur has more advanced features and objects, and the editor is much easier to use.
Thanks for this video. I just bought Lemur, so trying to get to grips with it. I noticed that my faders & other objects look really basic, whereas the ones in this & other videos are colourful & 3d looking. How do i get these funky looking faders?
Not sure if you've since figured it out, but for anyone wondering, just go to the settings in the app, on your _iPad/iPhone > More settings... > Skin [Classic, Flat, Pixel, Shaded]_
How did you resize the editor window? You said "double click" and it automatically resized somehow. On my screen it is super zoomed in and you can't see the whole screen at once. Don't see a resize anywhere.
@mcsg27 I appreciate the quick reply. I plan on getting an ipad in the near future and will be buying lemur. My ideal workflow would be to pull up a lemur template for the vst instantly by pressing the viewing button on maschine (where you press the button and the vst shows up on screen). That way I would be able to control vst parameters using lemur without having to use the mouse. I'm not familiar with the scripting possibilities of Lemur so I don't know whats possible yet.
Wow, thanks a lot! I was completely lost there for a while, regretting that I ever bought the app but now I can finally get started :)
i simply love you guys. whenever i have a question in my mind about equipment you release the answer in a video!!!
@addi307 I'm happy you're enjoying them!

Great video. Can you do this over USB between iPad and iMac/MBP?

@SlushyMBubble YES, AND THERE IS A WAY TO TURN OFF CAPSLOCK TOO.
Great tutorial - thanks!
Is interesting that everything ive seen about dubspot is about software and computer based stuff... its a shame that not even schools have hardware... some modular craziness!
and that program is downloaded to the computer or the iPad to edit it, it is only for iOS or there is also for android...
If you are on windows, I'd suggest RTPMIDI, google it, find tuorials, stuff happens
All right, got everything working except the wifi connection, because i have no clue how to set it up on windows 10
@mcsg27 ok cool. Are you going to do this in your tutorial? I'd love to see something using both lemur and maschine
damn this is tight! i'm gonna try it out

I also wonder - could you use iPad 2 with Lemur and/or TouchOSC and paired with a DAW running on a PC system?
Still here in 2022
what is the network you spoke of? "ed hawking" is what it sounded like. i want to know more about how it works
ad hoc network, google it
I CREATED my own template but so far i haven`t been able to make ableton live recognize any signal from it, eventhough the other templates work just fine, what do you think i should try?.

Is it possible to use the Lemur Sequencer to control Maschine?
i'm using windows on my pc, is it possible to connect that program on an ipad to my pc ?
does this work with mixbus 32c v 8 ?
@SlushyMBubble YES.
How did you resize the editor window? You said "double click" and it automatically resized somehow. On my screen it is super zoomed in and you can't see the whole screen at once. Don't see a resize anywhere.

For some reasons I can't find the link to download the Daemon.. can anybody point me to the right direction?

When I midi map the XY controller to parameters in live, they only react in an "on or off" way Eg: full bitcrusher or none at all. Any suggestions?
How can i use it with traktor?
how do you set it up on the ipad alone ? i dont have a computer
You can't! Lemur was made to use with a computer XD
Why don;t I have an arrow for daemon midi in?
@mujumove is it called ad-hoc?
Lemur
Rip lemur
i haven't any daemon MIDI in!!!
Yea. If I could rund Lemur in Cubase, that would be ok.
if you can use a midi controller in cubase. You can use lemur.
It’s pronounced deemon not damon.
touchosc is a toy compared to lemur
