The churches located in the Kazimierz area are not surprising. Kazimierz was founded by King Casimir III the Great as an independent city that was not dedicated to any ethnic minority. When the king decided to take in Jewish refugees from western Europe, he initially settled them in the area now occupied by the Jagiellonian University. Only later were the Jews moved to Kazimierz, which in time became the Jewish quarter of Krakow.
@@NowToulouse It would be very nice to meet you and show you around Krakow. I think I know something about the city as I was born into a family whose ancestors settled in Krakow in the mid-16th century😁. Unfortunately, I moved out of Krakow a few years ago and settled in the Lublin area. Lublin is also a beautiful city, more atmospheric, more intimate than Krakow. Have a nice stay in Poland. I really enjoyed your film.
@@arturkranz-dobrowolski2959 Thank you so much - I love Poland and I went to Lublin a long time ago whilst I was living in Elblag for a year. I will be back to Poland, that's sure!
