- Krakow is Poland's second biggest city and is famous for its ancient origins, for its beautiful Old Town...and for being completely overrun by drunken tourists. In this video I show you the best of Krakow, and tell you of the history behind this fascinating city.
In this video I tell you of the mythical King Krak, or King Krakus, who supposedly founded the city. I also tell you the story of how he slew Smok, the dragon, and how people raised a gigantic monument in his honour.
I also show you the Rynek Underground museum, Wawel Castle, Henryk Jordan Park with the statue of Wojtek the Soldier Bear, and a lot more. Since Sweden share history with Poland, especially when it comes to King Sigismund III Vasa who wanted to make a unified kingdom of Sweden and Poland, I also tell you more about the history from the 1500s.
But there's more. The St Mary's Bugle Call has a story that goes back to Mongolian invasions, and you can still hear those haunting trumpet calls at every hour in the city.
All in all, Krakow is a beautiful city filled with a fascinating history!
