I installed this plugin but didn't really understand all it's functions. I found your tutorial and set me on the right path. Immediately tried on my vocal and man what a nice sound. Your way of communicating and tone of voice is also a big plus. Some videos want to scream at you. Nice job.
@@FrenchtownMedia I actually installed and demo'd on some vocals and I'm really blown away. I don't have access to my UAD rig so I tried this out and it sounds like it's in the same realm of quality as UAD's 1176s. Insane. Gotta love free gems like this. Thank you so much for the motivating demo!
Man....this killed just about every other LA2A plugin....im not gona lie this thing sounds like a piece of hardware...Ive got an analog rack mastering chain with my analog mixer and interface and I'm telling you this with G Snap Gate....and a SSL 2 or UAD Volt on Vocals..its a rap...dayyyyymmm you got big studio sounding vocals.....
You should really be gain matching when showing off compression plugins. It's hard to tell if it sounds better just because it's louder or if it's actually the plugin itself.
Thanks a lot for watching! My understanding is that the drive function saturates the input and this allows you to control the intensity of the compression. By using more drive, the compressor will work harder as it is processing a louder signal. Hope this helps!
I don't quite understand the numbers on the gain and peak reduction knobs. Usually these are db, but I've never seen 100 db. How exactly do I interpret this?
all I wanted to do was to process a track to automatically make entire, lower-volume flute riffs louder, and higher-volume flute riffs softer so they were all closer to the same volume. I know I can probably do this by studying it all again... I just can't believe no leveler compressor just has presets that do this fairly well right out the "gate" so to speak. The default settings didn't seem to level my flute track whatsoever, just make the whole thing fuller and louder.
Sorry, WIll! I know exactly what you are talking about! When you have a side-chained hi-pass filter, it only affects the compressor. A lot of the time, compressors can have strange effects trying to process low frequencies, so the HPF allows us to stop sending signals that exceed a certain threshold. You will not hear the difference, but the compressor will ignore all signals outside of the frequency range and you set that range with the SC HPF control. Hope this helps!! :)
It actually only effects the low frequencies. It stops sending low frequencies to the actual compressor and that makes the compressor respond differently as there are no low frequencies to process. This is often useful because low frequencies can have strange effect on compressors.
Thank you for your support! Softube has a really good saturation knob plugin that is free. Not sure if that will give the lofi elements you are looking for but I use that one a lot, also Izotope Vinyl is really good!
versatile compressor with tube saturation x4 oversampled on top
this thing is a gem

That's great to hear! This plugin is super powerful, don't let the pricetag fool you lol
facts this tutorial was amaaaazing, i couldn't understand some of it, but this tutorial helped so much
I like the fast attack capabilities, sounds like it's pleasantly taking care of those peaks
Absolutely! I really enjoy using this, it is amazing that it is free.

@@user-ej7ss8ei2g That's awesome, I've never used their 1176 but to even compare it to something like that is saying a lot!

I couldn’t agree more!! I knew I had to share this gem 🔥
instantly became my favorite compressor. built in stock compressors didn't do it for me lol.
Mine too! It has that flavor that most stock compressors are missing!
Really cool plugin 🔌 nice walk thru! Keep them comin 👊🏾
Thank you for your support! Lots more free plugins on the way. There are a ton of good ones out there!

Yes you’re absolutely right! Still a great compressor
@@FrenchtownMedia yep I agree, sounds great on vocals especially
100%
Does the drive function saturate the input signal or the output signal?
Btw awesome video👍

Yes it is a bit confusing. Whenever I set a parameter I try to go to the max so I know what I’m listening for and then tone it down by ear.
Very clear instructions. Thank you.
Glad you found this helpful! Thank you for watching :)

sometimes you get what you pay for... I might recommend "Vocal Rider" by Waves. might be what you are looking for
great video! subbed. would you mind clarifying the purpose of the SC HPF? didn't totally make sense to me. 🙌

@@FrenchtownMedia cool! do you mean it only affects the high frequencies? you wrote "compressor," but i think I'm reading between the lines correctly?
It actually only effects the low frequencies. It stops sending low frequencies to the actual compressor and that makes the compressor respond differently as there are no low frequencies to process. This is often useful because low frequencies can have strange effect on compressors.
Awesome Plugin🎵🎼
It really is! I love using this on a lot of different sources.
Great video man, that’s a pretty great tool/program to have
Thank you for checking it out! I definitely love using this tool and the fact that it is free meant I had to share lol!
This is great brother. I am looking for good saturation plugin for that lofi vibe. I will check this out 🔥🔥🔥 nice review
