That reminds me of a joke: FBI agent: we got hacked Other agent: by who? First Agent: a kid on a *CHROMEBOOK* Other agents WTF BRO WE GOT HACED BY A KID
It doesn't. The Nspire CX is allowed on the ACT but the Nspire CX CAS (and Ti-89) is not, because it has the CAS which I guess makes lower level algebra way too easy or something. The chart you linked confirms that.
Yeah, I bought a TI84 Plus CE instead of the Nspire for this exact reason. Some of my teachers (including my Alg2 and AP Bio teachers) don't allow this, and I'm in 9th grade, so most of my other teachers thought it was too overkill. Also, I want my calculator to be used on all standardized testing, which is why I went for the TI 84 Plus CE. The rules are a bit iffy. But it does seem like a nice calculator, and if I had the choice, I would take it!
Nathan Ralph really omfg I would get two questions done with my ADHD brain . ADHD brain during sat:8x +... do you have life plans? no okay so let's play 2048 . ahhhh no flappy bird wait what type bird is flappy bird is it an angry Bird species maybe but no it doesn't have those untamed eyebrows. sadly she only completed 9 questions 2 were wrong
This is not a joke. My 89 took 17 minutes to do that summation. It's time that I upgrade and the 89 has cost me so much time on test. Thanks for the review!
Here are the main differences between the Nspire CX CAS and the TI-89 Titanium. I don't own either of these calculators, so I can't tell you which one I think is better. However, I know the differences between the two, and you can decide which is better. Basically, the Nspire has a color display, and is a better calculator for math because it has a GUI (which means you don't have to remember the syntax order for things like summations). However, the 89T is a much better programming calculator. TI-Basic on the 89T is a much richer language than on 83/84 models, and doesn't have the input/output restrictions of Nspire calculators. So, if you're trying to decide which one to buy, it boils down to this: the Nspire is better for math, but the 89T is better for programming (which can be used to make math much, much simpler).
I have the TI Nspire cx and I have loved it!!! If did me very well for Geometry, Algebra II/Trig, Pre Calculus, and AP Calculus AB. But the enter button stopped working, so I am going to buy the TI Nspire cx CAS because it has more functions that I will be able to use for the AP Cal AB exam! Thank you for the review
nah, it has to be a standardized experience, and most people's googlefu is very weak, so likely they'd allow proprietary bullshit like siri instead since apple is likely to wine and dine the people who make these rules.
If you're in the UK, Buy the CX and NOT the CX CAS in this video. No UK exam board for GCSE, A Levels or even University allow the CAS because of it's ability to do Symbolic algebra manipulation, and Symbolic Differentiation and Integration.
I just got this calculator cause my school requires that I have this specific one. NOTE! This specific model is very hard to find in stores. I found the ti-nspire cx, but CAS was not installed so I had to get it off of amazon.
dont just worry about the sat, act, etc. make sure the courses at your college allow it as well. my college algebra, trig, precalc, calc 1 and calc 2 classes did not allow cas calculators on tests. also most of my math heavy science classes only allowed scientific calculators, and ive also had plenty of upper level math that didnt allow calculators at all (EE major). calc 3 and my upper level circuits courses didnt care, but if id only been going as high as calc 2 (chemistry or cs major for example) this calculator would have been useless for tests. on a side note, my calculator times for that summation: casio prizm fx-cg10: 3 min 40 sec casio fx-115es plus: ~29.5 minutes TI-86: memory error after 2 min 18 sec :(
The Ti Nspire CX CAS is a lot better than the standard model, however, it is not allowed on the act. www.act.org/content/dam/act/unsecured/documents/ACT-calculator-policy.pdf this is the pdf stating the prohibited calculators. I would recommend getting both but using the standard on the act.
Looks pretty damn amazing. Though, I really have to wonder if they're going to release a successor soon, considering this released in 2011. For a calculator, it shouldn't really matter, but the spec-whore in me doesn't want to get something and then watch as a successor rolls out only a short while later.
I I know about that! It almost paralyzes me every time I go to buy a new piece of tech! I'm retired on a fixed and VERY LMITED income, and every purchase has to be thought through to the nth degree!
I've been using my trusty old TI-84 for the past 8 years, and it's always pulled through when I needed it to But I just got a new nspire CX II for my birthday, and I just found out how much I have been missing out on
I own that calculator, I really enjoy it. I would like to point out that when you get to college, they have more restrictions on calculators there. For this reason I had the most up to date ti 84 color for tests and such.
I would have wished you demonstrate some matrix row echelon form on this calculator, integral of trigonometric functions, integration of trig functions with other linear function by parts, inverse of z-score for a normal distribution in statistics and all. That would help me to evaluate this lovely calculator.
5m 49 seconds for SUM[x=0,100000] x^2, giving 333338333350000 Thats 45 times slower than the nSpire!! Please bear in mind the ti-89 I'm using is the original one, about 16 years old now. So one should expect an exponentially faster time, but still, 45 times faster is incredible.
So, if the TI 89 takes longer to answer the math question, I assume it would also take longer to load a game? :D......... If you want the best gaming calculator get the TI Nspire CX
Damn... My TI Voyage 200 needed about 6.3 minutes to calculate that (timed using the startTmr() and checkTmr() functions), which seems weird considering one person in this comments section only needed to wait less than 3 minutes on a TI 89...
according to Texas website, the CAS version does support Algebra 1&2, but does not support studies in electrical engineering that is the only difference!
I sort of hate the fact that there are no comma separators for large numbers. It's no fun counting the zeros in large numbers. can't believe this calculator doesn't at least have that as an option. buying the HP Prime.
hey I got the TI NSpire cx CAS from the same place you did shipped and sold by Amazon. I was wondering though why the back of my calc was different than yours. the CAS isn't as bolded as much and the "CE FC iC" symbols are directly under the CAS and yours are more towards the bottom
Hello, my child is in 6th but doing advance math and they want a CAS calculatoR. Isn’t this calculator to much for a 6th grader or it will be fine? The two calculatorS that has CAS is this one and the ti89. Thank you
I'm reviewing a case study on how this technology was implemented in education in North Korean schools and for me, I'm curious how this math computer stacks up to applications on iOS and ANDROID. Do you have any knowledge there?
OK. You think the TI-nspire is the best calculator on the market today. But if TI wants you to spend so much on one, don't you think they ought to know what CX stands for in the first place, especially if they care so much? Nobody in Dallas could tell me. Do you or any of your viewers know?
Other than the CAS, is there any other differences between this and the non CAS versions? I'm doing an a level course (UK) which prohibits CAS in the exams (AQA).

Thanks for the review... I was wondering, my HP 50g has more than 8 years and took less than 3 sec to iterate until 100000. Does anyone know why even with the obsolete hardware, the HP was still fast than ti?
Likely due to the OS. The Nspire has better specs (132 MHz ARM9, 64 MB RAM) Compared to the 50G having a 75 MHz ARM9 and 512k of RAM. On paper, the Nspire should be a bit faster.
*sees game on a calculator* already more useful than a chromebook

Even better joke:
Man: Where’s the Chrom!?
Other Man: In a book

This calculator IS allowed on the SAT and AP tests. However, the CAS version is not allowed on the ACT. I just wanted to clarify some comments.
It doesn't. The Nspire CX is allowed on the ACT but the Nspire CX CAS (and Ti-89) is not, because it has the CAS which I guess makes lower level algebra way too easy or something. The chart you linked confirms that.
Depends on the year, actually. It always changes.

But you need to clear the memory
I got this calculator only for games.... I use my GameBoy only for math class.
This is not a joke. My 89 took 17 minutes to do that summation. It's time that I upgrade and the 89 has cost me so much time on test. Thanks for the review!
Casio equivalent does it in under a second, pretty much instantly
2 minutes 27 seconds for the 89
Pinglei He more than 15 min Hp 50g ahah
In a Ti89 Titanium 6 minutes 28 sec.
I even thought my 50g had crashed.

For comparison; The TI-84 Plus CE did the sum in 7 minutes and 39 Seconds.
I have the same calculator...

did you get it?
How did u know
Yeah

TI Nspire CX CAS is the best calculator for college. its just soooo cool

haha, nice cubing timer
Wondered if I was the only one to see that.
Catfish yea
i thought i was the only one seeing that
I thought it was just me
On the origininal Ti-89 (1998 model, HW1: 10 Mhz, 1.00 ROM), this sum took 7min and 18 sec...
I got this calculator for the SAT test but got sidetracked and it is now my new gameboy advance and SNES emulator
dont just worry about the sat, act, etc. make sure the courses at your college allow it as well. my college algebra, trig, precalc, calc 1 and calc 2 classes did not allow cas calculators on tests. also most of my math heavy science classes only allowed scientific calculators, and ive also had plenty of upper level math that didnt allow calculators at all (EE major). calc 3 and my upper level circuits courses didnt care, but if id only been going as high as calc 2 (chemistry or cs major for example) this calculator would have been useless for tests.

Very useful review. Thanks. Is this Ti able to do everything that a Ti89 could do?
acfball ...no shit

hey I just wanted to say that your voice sounded like a character called dinesh in Silicon Valley.
omg he sounds exactly like him!
Omg after reading this I can’t unsee dinesh talking
over 30 minutes for my TI-36x pro
That's fantastic for a thirty dollar calculator, that calculator has great reviews.
This thing is so huge, they could easily fit a 4000mAh batery in there.
Not really needed. The internals on these use less power than most smartphones. I can go two weeks between charges on mine.
I've been using my trusty old TI-84 for the past 8 years, and it's always pulled through when I needed it to
But I just got a new nspire CX II for my birthday, and I just found out how much I have been missing out on
I own that calculator, I really enjoy it. I would like to point out that when you get to college, they have more restrictions on calculators there. For this reason I had the most up to date ti 84 color for tests and such.
I’m not a big fan of the Ti Inspire CX CAS because you cant use it on the act. But you can use the Ti Inspire CX on the act.
I would have wished you demonstrate some matrix row echelon form on this calculator, integral of trigonometric functions, integration of trig functions with other linear function by parts, inverse of z-score for a normal distribution in statistics and all. That would help me to evaluate this lovely calculator.
The TI-nspire cx II CAS takes 3.5 to 4 seconds lmfao
Without doubt, the HP Prime is the best graphing calculator.. More user-friendly, more powerful & definitely more beautifully crafted...
I think the Nspire Cx would be better than the Nspire cx cas. Even though the cas does more, the cx is allowed on act testing.
5m 49 seconds for SUM[x=0,100000] x^2, giving 333338333350000
Thats 45 times slower than the nSpire!!

So one should expect an exponentially faster time, but still, 45 times faster is incredible.
+Colin Java My 89 has cost me several tests this year bc it gets stuck in calculations when using solver function. Looks like I have to buy this one.
I have a walmart calculator, and i dont even have that weird spaghetti symbol

ti nspire cx ii cas is 3.32 seconds, and just comparing my old calculator, a ti 84 plus cse (not ce), it took 9:38.45
CASIO FX-991es plus took around 6 minute. GUI calculator is banded in our coutry
Yeah, I think it works great

My casio fx-cp400 does the x^2 summation instatntly. It doesn't take even a second.
That’s why Casio is better than ti in general
GUI is gwee? lol, it's GOO-EE

I sort of hate the fact that there are no comma separators for large numbers. It's no fun counting the zeros in large numbers. can't believe this calculator doesn't at least have that as an option. buying the HP Prime.
It looks amazing, but I went with the nspire cx because the IB (International Baccalaureate) banned it. Now I understand why...
The battery lasted a month for you?
How much did you use it? Five minutes a day?
hey I got the TI NSpire cx CAS from the same place you did shipped and sold by Amazon. I was wondering though why the back of my calc was different than yours. the CAS isn't as bolded as much and the "CE FC iC" symbols are directly under the CAS and yours are more towards the bottom
Shiiiit I'm replacing my phone with that
Nobody asked, but it took 8 minutes and 40 seconds for the TI-84 Plus CE.

The two calculatorS that has CAS is this one and the ti89. Thank you
Just saw this review and made me remember I got a TI 89 Titanium calculator for free from someone on LetGo :P that was a couple years ago maybe 2016.
6.7 Seconds on Ti-Nspire CAS Clickpad.
Edit: Overclocked using Nover from 120 MHz to 150 MHz. Cut the time down to 5.1 seconds.
Mine is getting here tomorrow.
the HP Prine is also better than the nspire at the same price, doing even graphing quicker and sums quicker
calculator(years ago) 1+1=2 equations
calculators now: math to engineering equations
calculators 2020: iphone 11
WHATS NEXT, FORTNITE ON MICROWAVES?!?
1:50 you can change the speed of it
There is slow , medium and fast
Does the equation part show step by step operations, or does it simply show you the answer?
I'm reviewing a case study on how this technology was implemented in education in North Korean schools and for me, I'm curious how this math computer stacks up to applications on iOS and ANDROID. Do you have any knowledge there?
These calculators are specialized for math however they are limited by memory and restrictions on programing.
How can i get the calculator to output π/4 instead of 0.785398 when doing arctan(1)?
Does ur calculator does electrical and chemical engineering
If i am a student of engineree, could i get it or better another more basic?
Ugg I want one of these but my parents wouldn’t let me buy a 135$ calculator ;-;
Buy used
I want the best calculator for storing text notes and also equations... I have a mac but also have access to PC's
What are your thoughts?
It is allowed on SAT, but is not allowed on ACT
Can the backlight be turned down or off completely?
I have been able to find the TI nspire cx but not able to fine the cx CAS
can this calculator can Solve Systems of Complex Linear Equations? like for ac circuits in electrical engineering if u know what i mean
Give Casio some love fam!
OK. You think the TI-nspire is the best calculator on the market today. But if TI wants you to spend so much on one, don't you think they ought to know what CX stands for in the first place, especially if they care so much? Nobody in Dallas could tell me. Do you or any of your viewers know?
guys please tell me
Is the Texus Nspire CX better than the CAS is the non cas version better?
Chao Timer lol. When cubing comes in handy :)
Help ASAP if I type in something like 9^140 will it display the full answer and not Just the first 10 digits
Other than the CAS, is there any other differences between this and the non CAS versions?
I'm doing an a level course (UK) which prohibits CAS in the exams (AQA).
basically you are unable to do any algebra without the cas version, and severely limits you on what can be done on it.
ha ti-89? I got a TI-nspire CX ii CAS
The battery drains itself when calculator is not in use, very irritating.
And now after 2 years, my battery is really bad and has to be charged all the time.
My Slide Rule is soooo much better !
I dropped my slide rule from a 3rd story lab window, it bounced and still works.
If you drop you Ti Nspire CX CAS from a 3rd story window, it shatters... broken!
Slide Rule Wins!
Flawless Victory.
SeaJay Oceans I dropped my Nokia 3310 from a 10 storey building, and it has Snake on it, Nokia wins (btw you should be more careful with such electronics, it is not a fucking brick lol)
about 18s with the ti nspire CX (no cas)
I tried the summation of x^2 from 0 to 100000 on my Ti-89, bought in 2002, and it went for 3 minutes with no results. I had to reboot it.
Do you know if it is programmed for engineering.
would you recommend upgrading from a ti nspire cx cas to a ti nspire cx ii cas?
No major differences and you lose out on ndless if you do upgrade.
Hey, I'm looking for a calculator in Australia and unfortunately, Nspire CX CAS is banned. Although, Nspire CX, Nspire CX II and Nspire CX CAS II are allowed. What exact difference is there between these? thank you
The CX II CAS is allowed but the CX CAS isn't? Considering the CX II CAS is just a slightly faster version of the CX CAS with a few new functions that actually makes zero sense outside of the only possibility I could think would be a few possibilities to bypass lockdown modes for testing.
sat's now say qwerty calculators are allowed and i noticed this has a qwerty. does this make it not allowed?
wow just realized thats not qwerty thats alphabetical order my bad man good video
Thanks for the review... I was wondering, my HP 50g has more than 8 years and took less than 3 sec to iterate until 100000. Does anyone know why even with the obsolete hardware, the HP was still fast than ti?
This calculator uses technology that could be replicated ten years ago. The price is so high due to being a TI calculator, and lack of competition.
Likely due to the OS. The Nspire has better specs (132 MHz ARM9, 64 MB RAM) Compared to the 50G having a 75 MHz ARM9 and 512k of RAM. On paper, the Nspire should be a bit faster.
I love calclators too
9:14 on the TI 84 Plus
are you allow to use this on college test
Hi .. is it good for Bio Statistics??
this this an approved calculator for math classes?
Ye
Great review bro.
Well, my TI-30X Pro is 5 min in for the sum(0->100000)x^2 and still going. I guess I'll have to reset lol
My Ti-83 Plus is better... cuz is says Plus... Looks like this thread needed a refresh.
Currently CAS - models are not allowed.
Is this calc allowed on SAT, ACT, or AP exams?
It's allowed on SAT and AP, but not ACT
my school literally has 24 per math classroom..
i go to a public middle school.
My Middle school In NC had class sets of Nspires too. Kinda silly when the High School in the same district still has 84's.
a calculaator does not need a 16bit color screen...
How long does it take to recharge?
