Also you can just put less than a knuckle of HOT water in your rice maker (start the water in the microwave while you get out the rice) with this small amount of rice
It'll be done just as fast maybe even faster.. usually faster.
If you do 1 cup of rice use 1/4 knuckle and preheat the water first.
No matter how much rice you're making on your rice maker, up to 3 cups, if you start microwaving the water first then get the rice out and add less water than normal, it'll be done wayyy faster.
I hope he tries this for a video soon..
But the "rule" is about 1/3 knuckle for 1 cup, a little less than half for 2 cups, and half a knuckle for 3 cups

It gets a bad rep because the way it heats food, its unnatural, and many people seem to believe that it doesn't matter or there is not proven evidence but there are studies that show that microwaves kill flavanoids which are essential for flavor obviously, but I believe that the truth is a bit different, logically thinking, the way that microwaves heat food, logically, make it impossible to produce flavanoids, and there are many studies that link flavanoids with health benefits, I havent done deep research yet but if I where to assume, flavanoids are a byproduct of healthy molecules..? Just an assumption, but the fact remains that the way it heats food is through frequency "radiation" and logically these "radiated" molecules that enter our system wont be taken too kindly amongst our "unradiated" molecules which would logically be seen as an abnormality to the molecular scale of the body and form cancer

Most rice I've purchased comes fortified with vitamins. Rinsing it would remove the vitamins from the rice. Whether that changes the taste or consistency I haven't done enough testing on, but for sure there's reasons not to.

You can easily tell the difference.
The microwave can superheat water above its boiling temperature so it makes sense that the rice can cook faster.
- This is my back to make rice in 12 minutes.

If it works it works, might swap the plastic wrap with some other kind of lid, but it looks like it works
Nah, you should use plastic wrap. It creates a perfect seal which doesnt allow any steam to escape, and it will stretch to account for the build up in pressure from the steam production. Even an airtight lid won't work because it'll keep the steam locked in, but since the lid can't stretch, the pressure will eventually blow fhe lid off and send your rice all over the inside of your microwave.
Plastic wrap is THE best way to prevent moisture loss when reheating or cooking something in the microwave. It's designed for stuff like this. It stays airtight, stretches to allow pressure build up, and won't melt into your food like a lot of plastic Tupperware will with enough time (or boiling water from making rice). Plastic wrap sealing containers is exactly how restaurants rehaeat line items if they don't have pots or a water table for them.
@@GR8APE69 but its also plastic and most are not made for high heat applications. If you use this hack make sure the plastic wrap says microwave safe or just use the bottom of plate that covers the container well, it normally works just as good.

As someone who once had limited access to a stove, this was sometimes the rice cooking method I used. In 13 minutes of cook time, it does give a decent rice for a microwave. I sometimes added veggies or lentils to the rice with oil and spices for a quick pulao or khichadi.

@@KuromeRechigo That was once upon a time. Now, I don’t own a microwave. I felt like the microwaved food doesn’t retain heat for longer and also don’t like the cold spots for frozen items. Living with someone with a huge appetite, pre-packaged foods are not sufficient or economical. They taste a bit weird too. I avoid microwaving in plastic if I can.
