Girl, thank you! I spend waaaay too much time trying to fix old stuff and searching for the best deal. I just gotta let some of this stuff go. It's taking up too much mental space.
I've got 2 good tips. Buy your mobile phone outright the monthly cost will be cheaper my contract is £9 a month. Use youtube to learn DIY skills. My door lock broke and I watched a tutorial and replaced it myself.
You’re obviously not in the states. Here, there’s no additional cost to make payments on a mobile phone. I do agree with paying for it outright though.
You are "The Virtuous Woman " I am 73 and I get clear wisdom from your chats, thank you dearly. Only once a month do I have a ride to the store I usually go online to buy it does take a long time to find that "perfect " deal, so for my situation I shop only one store online and look for the best price and value I can get. Those other stores will just have to go on without me 😂LOL Love Always your friend Ruthie
You should know that landline phones are a huge issue. So many seniors don’t want to give up their landlines, but AT&T doesn’t want to maintain those lines so they’re raising prices. Our neighbor was being charged the lifeline senior phone rate of $70/month. It took several days to talk through the how to’s but we helped him get a cell phone for $30/month…
I have a 40 year old fridge that I'm hope lasts until the house I'm building is ready, so I can junk it and get the replacement delivered to the new house
I've just found your channel. I've seen a couple of videos so far. I appreciate how specific they are plus not wasting my time. Thanks! Now we've subscribed. Look forward to learning more and sharing what I've learned through the years.
Speaking of time-Amazon Prime returns used to be free at UPS Store, but now it’s free at Staples, but a $1 at UPS Store now-deducted from your refund. Twenty minutes in line at Staples! I am back at the UPS Store for a dollar and no waiting. Keep a storage container in the freezer for the dabs of leftover vegetables. Then use them when you make soup.
I disagree about large appliances. Nothing modern is as durable and reliable like good quality old appliances. If the parts are not available anymore, then yes, you have to let go. A modern refrigerator might to be more energy efficient, but it will break faster because manufacturers need to keep selling
My fridge is 20 years old but it still works fine and is silent. A fridge repairman told me the new ones last 3 years and all the reviews say they’re noisy. I’m holding onto this fridge until it dies.
My old apartment had an old fridge. My electric bill was about $70 a month. My last apartment had a new fridge my electric bill went down to $30 a month. For 3 years that $40 I saved went into my savings account and I was able to purchase a brand new fridge for the house I bought last year😋
🤔🤔🤔 I replaced the fridge last October, our electricity bill 💵 was adjusted lower recently. I wonder if that is why 😂😂! Replaced it because kept hitting her head on the top freezer with bottom freezer, money well spent.
Excellent thinking! I just learned a lesson wasting hours on a game to make some extra money, because the top earning potential was $500. But could I get to level 25 in 30 days? Not with a life!😂
Mom n Dad bought a new Crosley Shelvador in 1947 it worked great till 1971n no problems. The latch broke in 1971 we could have had a new one machined for a few dollars but Mom was hoyty toyty n wanted a new fridge. So she had it junked n got a new one for $1200. It worked till 2 years later the botton hinge on the door broke...2 years. The fridge lasted till 1986 then junked. Dad gave away his 1962 Mercury car for $25 for a 1969 Pontiac then a Ford 1971 long gone. The Merc is still on the road by an elderly farmer.
I get what you are saying about the big vs small savings. But eventually you have no more big saving and then you can focus on small saving that add up. Example: brand name can vegetables are $1.29 at the reg. Grocery store, $0.64 at Walmart and $0.50 at ALDIs. If I eat 1 can a day for a saving of $0.79x365=$288.35. If I repeat that with 2 dozen products you get a savings of $7,000. I keep in my head the price I pay normally, in the can veggies $0.64 and see them for $0.50 I’m going to buy the limit they allow and shop my pantry until they go back on sale (which is usually every 8weeks of so). Right now I would stock up on ham butts for $0.62lb, whole turkeys at $0.63lb, carrots 2lbs for $1, cabbage for $0.37lb and sweet potatoes for $0.39. So I will restock chicken thighs at $0.59lb. A few weeks ago Ketchup 38oz was on sale for $1, stock up for the longest date on bottle. Pasta was $0.75lb. Pineapple 20oz $0.99. Using prices like these I can feed a family of 4 for $50-$55 a week. To be effective with this method you need a standalone freezer. Considering most feed a family of 4 for $125-$250 a week, that’s a big savings over a year’s time.
I would talk to an attendant and ask when slow hours are. Be sure you let them know you understand that nothing is going to work 100% of the time. Yelp helps me with how busy my grocery stores are, maybe they do it for Sam’s Club.
We have vehicles that are over twenty years old. We have taken exemplary care of them but, of course, they do need repairs (we put plenty of miles on them) just because of age. Even if the cost is high (and that is subjective; i.e. maybe $1,000 or more; even a new engine of $3,000) it is still less cost than a car note and the repairs that go along with a new car; along with the note. For us, it has been less costly to keep our old vehicles. Now, if we are all "mandated" to go ev...; dunno.
I’m a couponer and I know my stockup prices. By the way, toothpaste should be free. You shouldn’t be paying for toothpaste. You need to look into couponing. Couponing is more than just using a coupon. It’s store sales, store money, digital and paper coupons and rebate apps. There is a whole world out there where we aren’t paying much for groceries, personal care and household items.
Yes! I know someone who was a big couponer and she taught a group of us how to do it. She doesn't have as much time to do it on the same level now since she started her own daycare. I think balance is key! If you can spend less money AND find creative ways to make more money at the same time, you can be two steps ahead of your finances down the road! Thanks for commenting!

I would have traded it in right after I paid it off if I knew that was gonna happen! 😮the amount of money I spent on repairs was just like another 2 years of car payments!
That's $6.34 and that's cheap. Will the price rise or is that the fixed price? I pay $8.43 per month. In the USA it seems like the cheapest cost $15 per month and to get it you must pay one year prepaid. 5GB. How much GB do you get?
7:27 My research taught me that the sugar in fruit is processed by the body in the same way as the sugar in cookies. @pilotrtc, while it is true that sugar in fruit is processed by the body in the same manner as cookies, fruit is superior due to its fiber content, natural minerals and not to mention its not created in a factory. An occasional cookie is ok but eat that fruit every day😂😂 😂😂😂😅

If I had a 40 year old fridge that still works, I'm keeping it. New fridges might last you 5 years if you're lucky.
Some old refrigerators waist electricity but, you are 100 % right, things are not made to last anymore.
Less than that according to my research😳😳 the fancier and more computerized it is the more expensive it will be to fix
