Thanks for putting this up. This band is one of the divine aspects of this life. Gary Brooker's voice is utterly beautiful; the lyrics, the music, the playing. It is better now than ever. It is still being born. It is not about sentimentality or reminiscing about our early days. It is not about you, or me and our memories. It is timeless, vital, provocative art.

How very sad to lose yet another GREAT singer and muso of the 60s, Gary Brooker! Of course everyone associates Procal Harem with one of the greatest songs to have come out from the 60s , A Whiter Shade Of Pale , but Gary's voice GREW EVEN BETTER WITH HIS AGE !! I always said he had a great voice till I saw his last rendition of their great hit A Whiter... and I just couldn't believe how great he was sounding , even recorded LIVE (I think the show was in 2019)!! Rest well Gary and rock them upstairs .

1968. I'm a roadie for a local Pennsylvania band and we're playing at a local dance hall called Tipper's A Go Go. We play the first half of the night and Procul Harum along with Keith Reid and the road manager from the Paul Butterfield Blues Band play the second half. They were touring and promoting the release of their newest album, Shine On Brightly. It was mostly, as us long hairs called them in those days, a greaser crowd. 75% of them left when Procul Harum started. We had our own private concert standing directly in front of the stage. After it I sat with Robin Trower on the edge of the stage and he showed me his old wooden tube radio that he got from a pawn shop and used as a pre-amp to get his sound. Then we all talked about who else's music we all loved. They said they were trying to find a copy of, my other favorite group, Moby Grape's second album that was just released. One of our guy's had picked up a copy earlier that day and they bought it from us. To this day, that is probably one of the top memories of my youth. And by the way, I also like Homburg a little more than Whiter Shade Of Pale also.
