Another cause of bitterness is when we don't process our pain. It could accumulate over time leading to bitterness and then nervous breakdown when it becomes out of control. As christians, we should learn to process our pain with Jesus in the place of prayer and communion with Him. In addition, we can process our pain by talking to mature and trusted mentors/friends who can counsel, strengthen and walk us through the healing process.

My own small contribution is that parents should not pressurize their wards too much and they should also stop comparing them to other kids who seems to be doing well because it could spring up bitterness on the part of their own children towards those they're being compared with.

Listening to TED is just a way of telling me that God talk to is through different means because as at yesterday I was bittered to the extent I don't pray and fast, my landlord banned us from making use of space we use to wash clothes as if that is not enough, Water is not running again in our flat without any cogent reason, I just talked to Holy Spirit to help me and I noticed that I got the peace, He also speak to me in one of my devotional and now true talk, i love you Landlord even though I don't have water to cook, I will have to go out there to fetch water. Unforgiveness can sow bitterness. Association; where you find yourself among friends who always have bitter things to say about people it can influence your mind, mann your space well and put yourself in check with the word.
Family seeds: parents sometimes transfer bitterness, by lingering in past hurtful events by in-laws or family member's or friends, they tell these stories to their children who begin to nurse bitterness towards such people.
It's important that we keep ourselves in check with the word of God, and consciously too.
Bitterness can make you loose yourself while focusing on the hatee lol. Like Dara said, you let another into your life living rent free😄. Part of it's fruits is envy, inferiority complex, usually so subtle you begin to try so hard to be seen and to outshine someone who may really not know you have made them your competitions out of envy.
Argh! Bitterness can complicate issues in ways we do not want.
While I was in school, a sister in church hurt me. She went out of her way, even made efforts to hurt me.
I was a leader in the fellowship and I had to love her, but I really didn't, I just pretended to. This began to affect my relationship with God and my walk with God generally, I had to begin to confess love towards her. I would call her by name while am praying for her and say "Sis A, I love you with the love of God", I would say this every time until it became real. I felt like a rock was lifted off of me afterwards.

So true, your company also matters in how you develop or harbor bitterness. It took a while to discover that a particular company I was keeping was fueling the fire of bitterness in me. I use to easily let go of offenses, I use to try to avoid quarrels and give people benefits of doubt before I react. All of a sudden I noticed I was getting increasingly reactive and bitter about things that usually didn't matter to me before. Thank God for the unrest in my spirit that made pray for help. Infact this particular person now started to manifest her true nature after prayers.
This was my case. I rarely pick offense, quarrel or even complain. Unfortunately I got into friendship with a toxic friend and I became easily offended haboured anger and complained easily. Thank God for the Holy Spirit. I'm out of friendship with the toxic person and I'm back to my sweet self.

I have bitterness toward my mum for a very long time,I tot I have forgiven her....I really want to.
I had bitterness toward my Dad and refused to pick his calls, only for me to hear of his death few days later. I have bn asking God forgiveness. I didn't know he was going to die so soon

😍 It happened to me severally in church, with the issue of (volume microphone). I think it stopped when I noticed the volume of the microphone was cracking, I smiled and put it aside, instead my voice suddenly became confidently clear and powerful and everywhere became silent. NO one can stop the Word of God from spreading.
