@King of Misogyny they absolutely don't buy rights lmfao what are you even talking about. The vintage synth clones are whatever since those patents have run out but shit liked this and their shameless keystep ripoff are not licensed in any way and aren't even that good of a deal.
@King of Misogyny At some point you have to throw your business to the companies who are putting the money into research and development. But I have three Behringer audio boards. Hey I didn't say that I was dogmatic.
I find very interesting the fact that all those cheap microphones are very usable. In a good song with good interpretation they all could sound adequate on many sources.
I would say that this was not a good fit for Behringer. For the $40 difference, I think most people would actually rather buy the "name" of the AT2020. Add in the fact that the AT2020 genuinely seems more pleasing overall, and I'm not sure there is all that much of a reason to choose this particular microphone over any others.
I can agree with this. When the real deal is only a little bit more expensive, it's hard to justify. Unlike the XM8500, which many say actually sounds better than the SM58 and is 1/5 the price.
Sticking to my SM57 and e609. Recently scored a 60s Square head Akai mic. Any knowledge on those? Gorgeous..was supposed to sound like the 57..but warmer less brittle. Killer $25 goodwill online score. Thank you for all your hard work we appreciate you brother!! 👊
I appreciate that for this kind of mic review everything that you compared it to was basically in the same price range (and the neumann is still funny). Thanks for the great video!
you can already modify the title of the video, as thomann here in germany is listing this mic now under a different name: Behringer BM1 (before Behringer BX2020)
4:41 Behringer C1 sounds better than all the other mics in that comparison, its more detailed on the spoken silables. i think that's a very good mic for speech. crazy how good that cheap mic sounds compared to expensive mics. i would have thought that expensive Neumann mic would be better by far.
The only Behringer microphone I'd ever recommend is the XM8500. It's an insane value and a genuinely decent microphone; I switched out all my Sure SM58s for them because my mics take so much abuse (that's pro wrestling for ya) and it just made sense to go with the $20 mic especially when it's as good as it is Everything else Behringer does not only are knockoffs but never particularly good ones either. At least they reversed the 58 and added two zeroes to their Sure SM58 knockoff, allowing it to stand on its own!
I have one, same spec's as a Shure sm 58 for less than half the price. The only thing I don't like is the handling noise, needs more shock padding inside
Like you care, but here's an old man's perspective. I started "serious" recording in the 70's with a Sony R to R deck and two of their entry level pencil mics around $20 each ($100 plus in today's dollars). There wasn't much to compare them to that I could afford on a teacher's budget. This review was truly an expose' of how fortunate we are today to have great technology at affordable costs for the masses. The differences are subtle if at all, save for lack of low response in some of the mics. Twenty five years ago, before the internet and global information was wide spread, we'd shop in our closest "music" store and chose from what they had on hand going home happy to have something new and different. Mackie was first in my mind to go after Tascam, Yamaha and others with new designs that purported to give quality signal and sound at lower prices. Behringer and other newer companies seem to have gotten into this market to cash in on the mass interest in music production that Mackie created. Opinions shown below indicate how diverse our listening preferences are. There is a mic/preamp/interface/DAW/monitor for each of us at a price we can live with that will capture and reproduce anything our talents can assemble. Ok, I ramble...
From among the comparisons, I like the Mackie and the Neat mics, and the AKG P120 is the better of the clones. (Uh, the U87 is OK too.) The AT2020 is a sentimental favorite because it was my first XLR mic, and while it's not the winner anymore, it is better than the Behringer.
@@bradbonarddelacruz2238 there is no a specific "winner", but Akg p120 or 220, Mxl 770 or v67g, Neat worker bee or blue ember are the way to go , it depends or what you want to record. Personally i love the Blue Ember and the Mxl 770 ⭐
Honestly I liked the BX2020 better. Compared to the AT2020, the AT2020 sounded a bit anaemic. The BX2020 sounded more full and more open. It sure sounded nicer and more musical. FWIW the AT2020 was my first "real" condenser mic about 8yrs ago. It's served me well. If I had to buy again based on this review, I would buy the Behringer.
I’ve been avoiding Podcastage because it makes me want to buy more mics. I came in here thinking, oh a fun budget humorous video. Then Bandrew wipes out the U87, it’s like a magnet to my money. He even gives that cheeky grin. Son of a gun. I will say for closer to the price point, that Ember ALWAYS sounds stellar for the price. What a great spoken word mic.
I have no idea if you’ll see this… but if my mic is going to be 1-2 feet away from my mouth, what condenser microphone would be best? I currently have the Rode PodMic but I know it’s a dynamic and loses so much gain the farther away I get. Thanks!! Love your videos.
A company called Tannoy created this NT1-A clone as the "TM1" Then Behringer bought Tannoy. So, they didn't even create that clone, they're scraping the barrel even lower! I would also love to see bandrew review it.
my favorite was the Blue Amber, also the MXL V67 and AKG 120... but I don't quite agree with the Bashing dished out for this mic. I actually think for that price it's a really decent mic. I would have loved to see the Speedlink podcast mic in the comparison.... (I was listening to this on Presonus Eris 5 monitors)
The BX2020 midrange probably needs a good helping of proximity effect to not sound thin and nasal. In return, I actually like its highs better than the AT2020's which is killing me with its sibilance. It sounds a bit nicer than either the NW700 or C1, too. Decent enough value for the price and workable. The response reminds me more of a condenser vocal mic than a typical side address condenser. On this side of the pond it appears we can get the Marantz Pro MPM1000 again, so that would be another good alternative alongside the t.bone SC400. If you're a diehard AT fanboy, you should find that the extra 50 bucks for an AT2035 get you a much better mic than the AT2020 (sounds better, lower noise, more features, and shockmount included). Arguably their best value offering.
Hello Podcastage, Keep up the good job you're doing. I so much love your reviews and they have guide me in make decisions in my audio production. Pleas could you do a review/comparison of Takstar SM8B and Behringer C1? I want to get one of these but I'm confused on which one to buy. Thanks
The younger generation are spoiled! I was able to use this microphone without shame on the radio for me and my guests. Of course, it is conscious that the copy of Audio Technica at2020 is conscious considering that it is one of the best-selling microphones for home users for a few years now. I own 8 at3035 in the studio since 2001, and at2020, and 2 4050 by Audio Technica. Sound-wise, your voice sounds very prominent and good to the microphone. Had I turned back the clock 25 years ago, extremely many would have run down to the music store and bought many of this microphone.
I actually think them copying the names is mostly just helpful in knowing what they are really trying to do with said product, they are clone products, and they arent hiding that fact

thank you so much for this video! was looking to buy a noise-friendly mic and couldn't decide between the c1 and bx2020, now i know the c1 would've let me down immediately
People might take this for granted but there's people who gonna use this and make great music that is gonna sale more than the ones with 1000's of dollars worth of vintage or expensive microphones.
That goes back to the saying content is king. IIRC, Bon Iver's first album was recored with just an SM58 in a cabin. That's it. No massive studio or thousands of dollars of gear, just well written songs and good performances. That's the most important aspect of any musical recording.
At2020 also has a really harsh treble But, behringer clones, fraction of the cost, decent quality... There are reasons my entire audio chain has always been behringer, and will be for the forseeable future I dont work at NPR or something, for anyone starting out or on a budget, behringer is king
Not going to lie but I think I’d take this bx2020 over the at2020 because the at2020 is quite a bit more brighter then this “clone” and it’s brighter in a bad way
That Microphone does not seem to exist now in October 2021... That model number is not on the website and the model seems to have been changed to BM-1 and is not for sale anywhere. How much do you want to bet that Behringer got spanked by audio-technica

(Skip the AKG P820) the t.bone SC400 is good mic for his price, yes, there is electret 2/3" capsule, but c'mon, this is budget mic, don't wait for the true condenser 1" capsule
I heard about a recently released cheap audio interface you might want to review: XTuga E22 Audio Interface. I've been having doubts if I should buy this instead of the Scarlett and M-Audio counterparts
Can you do a review on the Roccat Torch ? Curious to hear your opinion and how it does . First mic they’ve done and they’re a decently well known gaming hardware company
I would like to see a review from the Vanguard V13. This microphone is in my collection for a long time and is a beast for its price. Would be nice if you would consider reviewing it.
I love watching all these reviews of mic that doesn't even sell in my country and it would be so expensive to buy from another country. (I'm not joking) 😃
I thought the exact same thing. I demoed the Antelope Solo and the build was crap. the capsule was crooked and the thing sounded just ok. Also, very hard to discern the country of manufacture of the Solo. My guess is that this mic uses the exact same body. I don't see a difference.
Hey Bandrew, I know you're not a fan of the B-word as of late, but would you consider comparing the dbx 286 and the Ultravoice UV1? I'm curious to see how well they ri-, er, emulated it.
Antelpe Audio edge design+AT2020 name & sound signature with a bass boost= BS2020, what a waste of life. But as usual full marks to you brother for your hard work, but just because of Behringer’s sheer shamelessness, I am not buying this guy! Love you loads! Also, U87 wins, then the worker bee!
I'm fairly certain he records all of them in a row - he usually doesn't mention the name of the next/previous mic in the review mic samples, just a rough idea of how many comparison mics/where he is in the list
BX2020 is very good I think. But still I don't know that you are using Focusrite sound thing for feeding those all mics. On the other hand, I'm using JBL Qantum 400 headset, for me only U87 is winner against BX2020 :) what do you think actually?
I did use the focusrite for all XLR mics. If you like the BX2020 better than all the other mics, then what I think doesn’t matter. I include the samples so you can determine what YOU like the sound of. Thanks for watching. Best of luck on the recording.
No offense, but if you don't want people to buy Behringer products or to know about them, just simply don't make a video about it. You are probably one of the big and trusted youtubers for audio gear reviews, and the fact that you made a video or didn't made a video about a product can tell a lot about a product. Take PewDiePie for example, I am sure many small creators probably diss him, but if he will respond to everyone, then he will be just giving them publicity, as a reaction from PewDiePie is a big deal. You are giving publicity to Behringer.
On a proper audio set up the acoustic guitar section did make me picture a sack of needles being roughly shaken. When someone using the HD650 say they feel like they're being stabbed by sibilance it's best to take their word for it :p
I think i prefered the C1 in the test (if you compare behringers mics) the real 2020 have a little better sound. the behringer has a little bit annoying high end in my ears. The mackie sounded nice in my ears and was only 60. so thats the best of the bunch for me. I did not really like the sound of the real 2020 either actually, so its def mackie for me.
Is there a way to remove the grill section to add a thin layer of internal damping, such that the treble sibilance and external noise problems would be mitigated somewhat?
I think an external foam windscreen and a shock mount should go a long way to resolving those issues, as with a lot of mics in this price range that are sibilant, with the added benefit of rejecting plosives, being simple and being cost effective.
yeah.. I wanna think the Razer Seiren Mini was $50? And it sounds significantly clearer and more accurate.. at least, listening to Bandrew talk into it well, I don't know about accurate actually.. I mean, it just sounds a little different.. but for sure it sounds clearer
@@RainboomDash because the razor recorded in 16 bit 48khz…. With xlr mics and recording at 24 bit and 44khz and up ,,, it’s going to make you’re recording more smoother and a good way to explain how it sounds is , the higher the sample rate the more “see through” you’re recording sounds
Funny, my first impression was, not terrible, but thin. Regarding Behringer in general, I have no problem when companies clone old circuits and dozens do so. An SSL style compresso? Fine! A Pultec or 1176 clone? Ok! But ripping off recent products and mostly those which are already on the lower price end, is a shame. Not impressive to make an affordable clone, if the original is already affordable, doh!
i think i'm gonna end up buying the bx2020/bm1 nonetheless since i definitely prefer brighter sounding mics, the mxl does sound incredibly good tho...if any of you have suggestions for something that sounds close but in the same price range as the behringer I'd def be happy to hear them :)

I'm conflicted on behringer clones On one hand I don't like what they're doing, but on the other hand I'm okay with products like the warm audio WA87 Both are blatant clones of more expensive mics that steal the name and looks. I'm okay with one but not the other
One is a cheap clone of an already cheap mic that’s still in on the market. The other is a usable clone of a classic mic no longer in production. They at least put in the effort to capture the same basic tone.
@@PSColdFire i agree for the most part, but the at2020 is already a cheap mic. I doubt behringer skimped much on quality and were able to bring the cost down because they have more production capabilities

The mic doesn't sound half bad for the price. But... very interesting that they made their own "2020" microphone.
And made it look like the AT

Audio Technica: "yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious...
Behringer:
I really don't know why Behringer needs to clone a buget microphone, which itself does only cost 100$. Still interesting to see what they have done 😉
Makes a big difference to me personally. 40 bucks saved is 40 bucks earned. As long as the quality isn't widely different

which country are you from?
@@bradbonarddelacruz2238 I'm from Brazil.
Why does this mic look completely identical to the Antelope modeling mics
I thought the exact same thing. I demoed the Antelope Solo and the build was crap. the capsule was crooked and the thing sounded just ok. Also, very hard to discern the country of manufacture of the Solo. My guess is that this mic uses the exact same body. I don't see a difference.
Hey Bandrew, I know you're not a fan of the B-word as of late, but would you consider comparing the dbx 286 and the Ultravoice UV1? I'm curious to see how well they ri-, er, emulated it.
Shouldn't they call it the Behringer BX2021? Because it's 2021?
100% agree regarding the internet...You Tube is right up there Too!
Thanks for the review!
V67G is hard to beat under $300: I love mine! The Behringer has its noted drawbacks. Certainly not on my 'acquire' list!
Facts
I'm diggin the Mackie at or below the $60 price point.
you ever gonna try the behringer tm1? its there nt1a clone
I bought it and will be reviewing it and bitching about the unoriginality.
@@Podcastage couldn't be Beringer if the product was original
@@atariglo b1 and the b2… original
We need a edge solo review!!!
You’re absolutely correct about their intentions.
Kinda sad to think that anyone would buy a microphone because its name sounded similar to another company's offering.
Antelpe Audio edge design+AT2020 name & sound signature with a bass boost= BS2020, what a waste of life. But as usual full marks to you brother for your hard work, but just because of Behringer’s sheer shamelessness, I am not buying this guy! Love you loads! Also, U87 wins, then the worker bee!
nice catch! I thought it looked just like the antelope!
@@badmiddens Thankyou, and yes it does
Do you guys think Bandrew records all the (review mic) samples in a row or do you think he swaps cables back and forth behind the scenes?
I'm fairly certain he records all of them in a row - he usually doesn't mention the name of the next/previous mic in the review mic samples, just a rough idea of how many comparison mics/where he is in the list
now I want your review and comparassion of the TM-1
BX2020 is very good I think. But still I don't know that you are using Focusrite sound thing for feeding those all mics. On the other hand, I'm using JBL Qantum 400 headset, for me only U87 is winner against BX2020 :) what do you think actually?
I did use the focusrite for all XLR mics. If you like the BX2020 better than all the other mics, then what I think doesn’t matter. I include the samples so you can determine what YOU like the sound of. Thanks for watching. Best of luck on the recording.
Whatever happened to this microphone? I can't find it anymore in behringer's website or retailer websites
Can't wait for the BX2040 😏
The first mic I ever got was a Behringer xm8500
Just wait until Bandrew hears about the Behringer 1820 interface
BS2020 is a budget "meh" tier mic, stay away. Though AT2020 is an "ok" mic at best, there are better mics at this price range.
yeah.. I wanna think the Razer Seiren Mini was $50? And it sounds significantly clearer and more accurate.. at least, listening to Bandrew talk into it
well, I don't know about accurate actually..
Ah Behringer, you always make me say "HOW is this legal?" without fail
Because you don't understand patent laws.
@@MJanovicable Uh..... I know it's still legal. Doesn't stop me being shocked when they release another blatant ripoff

Behringer B-1 & the B-2 pro…..what were you saying about original what??
atleast their synths are original. oh wait...
@@rylandweet7750 Try Samson CL7 and CL8... not so much the case design, but the sound.
@@PileOfEmptyTapes they are like the exact same price as the Samson’s and I’ve used them both, they are similar just like the shure pga27 is similar … the Behringer are not clones of the CL’s , they are legitimately their own original mics, google about them, it’s interesting how they made them
I'm conflicted on behringer clones
On one hand I don't like what they're doing, but on the other hand I'm okay with products like the warm audio WA87
Both are blatant clones of more expensive mics that steal the name and looks.
Do you know anything about the C100? is it worth it or would the tlm 103 be bettwr
neat worker bee sounds very realistic, i like this one the most
Umm...all the mics that carry the numbers 47 and 67 in their model names?
What brand and material is that pop filter @2:19 ?
Can you do a Review for the Roccat Torch?

I really notice the change in the AKG. I will get one... in the future.
Hello,
Can you find somebody to sing Classic with this mic!
I heve 2 rode micro,s for singing, Maybe you see the diference.
My budget for a mic was only $20. I only click on these reviews now to hear the music test and lyrics. Am I dumb? :\
At 4 feet the off axis coloration was very noticeable. 😳
I really don't like the sound of the BX2020. The highs sound so artificial, yet the top end is really unprecise. I am also not a fan of the AT2020.
Please review the Tula USB microphone.
you're not going to like it, but i think the other mics in that comparison do not sound better than the behringer bx2020.
