They don’t have the money for a quality head coach right now. The other factor is Mark Davis himself. Even if the Raiders go 2-15 this season, Davis will still be reluctant to pull the trigger. Look at how long it took him to finally fire Dennis Allen. In this organization, failure doesn’t mean you’re gonna lose your job, and success, especially in Jack Del Rio’s case (or Rich Bisaccia for that matter), is no guarantee you’re gonna keep it, either.

      Yeah, the Raiders were not good on offense in that game, and have been terrible this season offensively. It's been a LONG time since the Raiders' defense has been the reason why they won a game. It's really weird to be honest. I guess it just shows how much of a mess the Packers are since the Raiders defense is still one of the worst in the league.
      Though on the bright side, this game made McDaniels look AWFUL. Keep it up please; we need more evidence of your incompetence so Mark Davis can't ignore it any longer. The Raiders aren't going to be a good team until he's fired.

      Granted, it's not _all_ his fault. This franchise side-steps Great Prospects every draft so consistently that *I'm convince* they try to draft well enough to keep their jobs but want to be rewarded by not having to work over the Holidays (miss the playoffs).
      & let's face it, _he _*_wants_* Joe Barry gone. But we all watched him stare at the field in incomprehension after those rookie receivers dropped Rodgers; perfect dimes as if confused & continued to ignore Rodgers' ideas while his own continued to fail.

Then MLF and company refuse to throw the ball more than 10 yards down the field, despite the average yards to gain for a first down on third down being almost 7 all night. I'm worried if the play calling doesn't improve we will not have an accurate evaluation of Love. As an outsider, I see the coaching as problem number one because if you read Love's face and body language it said 'why the F did you call that play'?. Issue two is the O line. They to me looked confused and didn't communicate well in blocking assignments (see Crosby for more info) and lastly it not taking advantage of Josh McDaniels idiocy. There was blood in the water and no one went in for the kill.

    • @tomatoisnotafruit5670
      @tomatoisnotafruit5670 11 месяцев назад +1

      Yep, well said. Love had a bad game but a lot of the blame for that goes to the coaching and play calling. It was atrocious, There was so many plays that even a casual fan is scratching his head thinking wtf are you doing and like you said you could see it on Love's face as well. It's hard to play well when you are forced into plays that make no sense in the game situation.
      And McDaniel's and his raiders tried really hard to lose this game too. Seems Mcdaniels is making the wrong call in every single critical situation and the decision is not even a hard one, but Mcdaniels got lucky the Packers coaching was somehow worse this game otherwise Mcdaniels would be the butt of the bad coaching jokes for another week.

      Receiver was waving I'll get it. The coach was waving throw it there and probably throwing there the plan. And the Receiver is way taller than the Defender and probably likely to get the win but the defender timed their jump perfically to get it. So it not Love stupidity. He not Brady or Rodgers to put it on other side of the receiver in a much harder throw so no chance it gets grabbed but he might be there in year or two or not Rodgers first year he was not that good.
      As a Bucs fan watching Brady throw to what must be a slightly larger than the football spot in end zone while the receiver not anywhere close to the end zone just knowing they would beat there man and the ball most often hit that spot it was amazing. And the receiver able to trust bRady to hit that spot so face into the end zone so the ball went over their shoulder and into their hands while never looking for the ball took skill as well. Rodgers could do that too but I did not have the opportunity to see that as close up. It was sad half way though last season when Brady fell apart other than two minute drills as he started missing open receivers a lot of the time.

    In Rodgers first year as a starter (2008), the Packers went 6-10 with Rodgers throwing 28 TDs to 13 INTs at a 63.6% completion rate and just over 4,000 passing yards. Through 5 games, Jordan Love has 8 TDs to 6 INTs at a 55.6% completion rate and almost 1,100 passing yards - the seasons are roughly comparable to date. I don't recall anyone calling for Mike McCarthy to be fired in his third year at that time, but maybe the difference is that Rodgers already was showing flashes of accuracy in his rookie season, and so far Love looks like he only has the arm strength but no deep ball accuracy.

      Three things, one, multiply Loves numbers by 3.4 to actually get to the proper “pace” and you’ll see that Love would have fewer yards, fewer touchdowns, and more interceptions (actually on pace for over 20). Two, the league is in a completely different place in terms of passing statistics than it was in 2008. Three, go back and watch some of those games from 2008. Rodgers was already making quite a few “wow” plays. Throws into tight coverage, downfield shots, etc. I’m not saying Love won’t be serviceable, but if he were going to be really good we’d have seen something by now.

  • @rw2382
    @rw2382 11 месяцев назад

    When the Jets drafted Zach they literally told him on draft day, don't worry you're not going to have to carry the team, we'll carry you. They then put him with a rookie head coach, rookie OC (MLF), a QB coach who got killed before preseason, and was not replaced, no mentor older QB, a terrible OL, WRs at the top of the league in drops (none of whom are starting anywhere now), and forced him to start in the most hostile city with the most hostile fan base. At a position that usually requires time to develop, that's how you screw your future. How long has it taken Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, etc. to show that they may finally be getting it? And none on their original teams. Jaguars fans were calling Lawrence a bust through 4 games last year. But he had the good fortune to get a Super Bowl winning coach who has a knack for developing QBs. What a concept.

    Matt's been out coached every week and the 1st half stats prove it. An to make matters worse it feels like he's terrified to call plays because Love doesn't have any grasp on the plays or Defense he's going against. These past few weeks it comes across like we had zero scripted plays because nothing looked like it had any resemblance of being rehearsed. No innovation, no speed motions, nothing to attack an aggressive D. Hell when Watson got us on the Goal like instead of sneaking a tight end out to counter an aggressive Crosby, we just ran it in the middle over an over. Its Mike McCarthy play call all over again, predictable an shallow.

    I think most of us Packers Fans aren't used to losing and panicking. We've been a bit spoiled by having 2 Hall of Fame QBs since I've been alive in the early 90s so I think our expectations are quite a bit too high because we have just way too high of standards from the latest almost 30 years of the Franchise. I didn't get to watch this game, I dominated my Fantasy Matchup (Thanks Jamaar Chase, ETN and George Kittle) and didn't have anyone in this matchup tonight as I was working, might be glad I didn't see it lol.

      I went through this same feeling with the Red Wings. I grew up with them as a kid in the 90s when they were in the playoffs annually every year I was alive until 2015, and ever since I've had to deal with the harsh reality of "wow, so this is what it's like not having a playoff team" and how awful that is. Seems like Packer and Patriot fans are collectively having to accept that fate now at the same time after being spoiled with success for decades. A lot of the younger generation isn't used to seeing them struggle this way and don't know how to handle it or react yet. I'm sure they'll figure it out again soon (though being a Lions fan, I'll hope it isn't too soon of course), it's a franchise that never is content with being down too long.

My QBs throughout the first 3 weeks on fantasy were Burrow and Ridder (bc I’m from Ohio, so UC and Bengals)… I traded for Love last week since both of my guys were playing bad. As a long time packers fan it definitely sucks to see that this is how things are going, sure Rodgers didn't do well in his first few seasons and maybe we can see the same with Love. But as it stands the inexperience isn't just with one or two players, but it feels like it's for the entire team. That is often times the gamble you make when having a young team. As for this loss it pains me in 2 ways, being a Packers fan and Sub Chargers fan this felt like a double loss because the Raiders are divisional rivals to the Chargers but then again Chargers fans rarely have any expectations. Which is why when the Packers face off against the Chargers, despite me loving both teams and me being more a Packers fan, i might have to go for the Chargers just for the simple fact that at this rate i don't see the Packers really going far. So at least i can't be disappointed in that game. Never had much expectations going into the season but it's still frustrating to see this happening. Because now the question feels less of "is Jordan Love the guy" and more "What is this team doing with him?" But it's safe to say that if we lose to the Broncos, it will be panic time for the Packers. As well as a serious wake up call which i doubt will wake up the Packers.
    But i 100% agree about the team not helping Love, and with how the team is performing it's very hard to tell what's in the future.
