    As a kid born in the late 50's and growing up inthe 1960's, my Grandfather was the milkman, and milk was delivered in GLASS 1pt bottles every morning, it was cheap, nutritious, but most of all recyclable, as we used to rindse out the bottles used and leave them out for the next mornings delivery- then Supermarkets came along with their pkastic bottles and screwed up a whole industry. My granfathers supplier went bankrupt just five years after he retired, and luckily sold his business and rounds for a lot of money-(he had a massive round with three carts) Such a shame that now we hate this pkastic as it is killing our oceans. Please go back to the milkman- even if it does cost more!

    • @cormorant4161
      @cormorant4161 27 дней назад +2

      We have milk in glass bottles - it's a bit more expensive than in the shops, but we're lucky enough in our home to be able to take that on the chin. What surprises me is that we don't recycle beer bottles in the UK. They do in Germany and Scandinavia. It works really well: you buy your beer in a crate and return the empties in the same crate, in exchange for a discount voucher for the next crate you buy.

    Back in the 70s when i was a wee bitty teenager, my mum used to say that the seasons would change. It does seem that her Biblical based view has in many ways come to pass. It does seem to be the case that the seasonal cycle has shifted some. Christmas and New Year are rarely cold these days and are often much more autumnal in nature, whereas any cold weather we do get is far more likely to occur in the February to April even into early May period. I was camping in the west midlands last week and on a couple of occasions temperatures fell below freezing and i was shaking ice of my tent as a result 🥶

    Why bother naming depressions? for people to be more aware or what? wasn't it a US thing for naming hurricanes

      It's to help raise awareness yes. You'll notice that videos with named storms have lots of views as a result. This does bring in a mixture of people though as you get those who laugh at it and say it's silly alongside those who appreciate it but regardless, it still brought in more attention.
