Chilly this week! Its been chilly since October 2023
Try chilly since December 2022 - most of last year was rubbish too. 😕There are many things I love about this country... but the weather is NOT one of them!
I can't believe it's been a higher temperature than usual this year, it's been bloody freezing!
Glad you said it, as I thought I was going nuts as I put my fleece on indoors!
I love it cold I not well at the moment colder temputers help
February was mild - a fair bit of Feb was warmer than this week we are in of April.
Listen more carefully, the man said earlier in the season not year, doh!
I've been in my t shirt twice this month at work. Normally in April my jumper doesn't even go on, but I've been wrapped up in a coat for the most part. Bloody cold, not near record temps for sure.
I don't recall any record high temperatures this year. The woodburner has been on non stop since October 2023!!
You must live in a better place than me (Nottingham). Last year I had the heater on in July and it seems to have rained non stop since about October 2022. Perhaps cold wet weather doesn't fit the narrative.
'This week'!! It's been chilly for about six months now.
Chilly weather is not wanted
Grim, Spring is almost over and still no signs of improvement
As a kid born in the late 50's and growing up inthe 1960's, my Grandfather was the milkman, and milk was delivered in GLASS 1pt bottles every morning, it was cheap, nutritious, but most of all recyclable, as we used to rindse out the bottles used and leave them out for the next mornings delivery- then Supermarkets came along with their pkastic bottles and screwed up a whole industry. My granfathers supplier went bankrupt just five years after he retired, and luckily sold his business and rounds for a lot of money-(he had a massive round with three carts) Such a shame that now we hate this pkastic as it is killing our oceans. Please go back to the milkman- even if it does cost more!
We have milk in glass bottles - it's a bit more expensive than in the shops, but we're lucky enough in our home to be able to take that on the chin. What surprises me is that we don't recycle beer bottles in the UK. They do in Germany and Scandinavia. It works really well: you buy your beer in a crate and return the empties in the same crate, in exchange for a discount voucher for the next crate you buy.
Nice deviation from weather to plastic waste. Well done.
@@dominicmonaghan9887don't be a prat. At least he's not making stuff up about what they are wearing.
Great one Alex, just want warmer weather so I can put my coat away and get out my shorts
Still thick coat at the moment
Don’t change your clout before the Mays out
@@absta100 I was just saying it would be lovely if it was a bit warmer, sick of cold weather it's being like this for the past few months
@@philipmurphy2 totally so bored of it now 🌻🌻🌻
@@metofficetime to permanently move to middle east, UK is finished by all possible metric, always cold, even cold in June and July, there is no hope, englands weather never recovered since those 3 days of record breaking temperatures of 40c plus, since then it's been coldest summers ever,
felt like winter for so long now i need some sun now
Thanks so much for doing the Global Overview too! Love this.
Thanks, Alex - about time we have high pressure. Unfortunately it’s not lasting that long, so flooding remains an issue
I hope it’ll be hot and sunny in summer spring has been rainy and cold 🥶
I hope it’ll be between 25 and 40 degrees Celsius in summer
You might but I can't stand anymore than 22 😢 don't mind in the daytime but heat in the night cripples me an my cat can't take his fur coat off 😅
ps. I lived in Africa 110 in the shade but the evenings were cool not humid and muggy.
Very interesting, thank you Alex & the team.
I agree it was a interesting forecast for sure.
I appreciate your/teams work.
A very clear explanation here.
Thank you.
Nice to see what's going on weather-wise around the globe Alex
As a gardener I’d love some sunshine I want to get my shorts on and put the long johns away 😎☀️🤣
Thank you, Alex
Have a great week.
“Ohhh! My birthday!”
Love this guy! ❤
Thanks Alex and the team, keep up the great work.
Been dry here on the Wirral for about a week, bit chilly ,bit of frost, nice in the sun, typical April and i spend my working life outdoors so whatever the weather chuck's at me i just get on with it without the moaning
Thanks deep dive fantastic weather information class 👍
Athernoon see you on gavin live stream soon.
Quite agree was a wonderful Deep Dive 👍
Love these forecasts well done all involved
Thank you,I find all the weather facts interesting, in particular the Global section.
Thank you, Alex. Loved the world weather report bit, and would love to see more of it in future episodes.
That damn jet stream....definitely need to think about moving to Spain 🏝
I’ve said the same or Australia 😂
Wondering if it has been the dullest spring so far. I feel like we've hardly seen the sun shining this spring. Great Deep Dive once more and thanking myself lucky in comparison to what is happening and possibly about to happen in Asia. And we think We've had a lot of rain!
Damn I need to start watching the weather
Many thanks Alex. Not a great forecast temperature or rain wise, I just hope we get a better summer than we had last year! Take care everyone, thanks a lot to all at the Met, especially those behind the scenes😊
Nice One Alex! just need the sun gods to come out please! 😁🌞🌻😎
No record breaking warmth in Aberdeenshire , a late Spring here about 2/3 weeks later than last year
It would be interesting to see the figures for the south of England alone for spring rainfall . It's been closer to average in the west of Scotland so if it's above average in the UK some places must have been extra wet.
Seem to remember the rainfall in Kent this February and March was record breaking Alex? Thanks for another enthusiastic and informative presentation
Can we have more information about wind please? As a sailor, this is something I look at. It seems like we have had a lot more wind of late than normal. Love the deep dive btw.
It's been bloody freezing for the past 7 months.
freezing!
Liking the global view, keep them coming
Really interesting. I agree it has felt cold, but I guess we haven't had the usual couple of weeks of frost in January.
Interesting to see the rainfall in other parts of the world……and I thought we have had a lot of rain🤭
Loved all the graphs at end
nice one Alex😋
A great video, thanks. I do like the world view section, its really interesting to see how everywhere else is doing, particularly unusual rainfall, or lack of rainfall. 👋 🇬🇧🇪🇺🇺🇦
“Record breaking warmth for sometime now?!?” must have missed that lol
It's the usual SE bias
I guess its more of a steady line rather than sharp up and down weather, that's why it's felt like it hasn't changed at all since last October
Beautiful weather in Ireland for the last 4 days!
Love the feature of world weather very interesting.
Excellent info on bottled water and what's required to produce that. Thanks for the plastics reduction piece 👍🏼
Thanks
Doesn’t feel like the warmest spring on record! Or perhaps I’m just getting older…
Back in the 70s when i was a wee bitty teenager, my mum used to say that the seasons would change. It does seem that her Biblical based view has in many ways come to pass. It does seem to be the case that the seasonal cycle has shifted some. Christmas and New Year are rarely cold these days and are often much more autumnal in nature, whereas any cold weather we do get is far more likely to occur in the February to April even into early May period. I was camping in the west midlands last week and on a couple of occasions temperatures fell below freezing and i was shaking ice of my tent as a result 🥶
Been very sunny/hot for the last week in Bantry area/West Cork. Sunburnt , shorts and T shirt weather.
Well that is wonderful thanks Alex but we need this Omega block to do one now
10 months of bad weather continues...
He says this year's been warmer than average, I can't see how!
Thank you Alex
I enjoyed the weather highlights around the world. Keep sharing the interesting stuff and feel free to nerd out 😊
In Bangladesh we are experiencing 43-44℃ and the weather forcast is saying heatwave can last for atleast one month if not more and temp can rise further. We need some cold rain🙂
Trust me I think most of the UK would happily share some cold and wet for some dry and sunny. That way we'd both get something in the middle. Sadly we can't quite manage that... :/
Just 600mm of rain in China?...Pathetic...THATS ROOKIE NUMBERS!!! Feels like Ive had well over 1000mm per day since last June here in Yorkshire.
It has felt like it!
Just put the heating on........again.
That wobbly jetstream is going to bite us for a while yet. I hope I'm not still here once it settles down again.
42c in N E Thailand. The locals believe its a 60 year record.
The rainfall charts reveal exactly how wet it's been. When will it end???!!!
We had a few warm ish days earlier on in the month but now it’s definitely gone chilly again hopefully some warmer weather in May please
Alex where have you been. Love the weather now
Hello Alex
Hi
Thanks you Alex
Hello Alex, I really appreciate your forecast. Explained really well and I’m looking forward to yet more wintery weather here on the Norfolk coast! 🥶
Late Happy Birthday to Alex!
Let me guess .... another washout summer on the way .... I haven't seen any sign of spring, except longer days.
How far ahead can you look in terms of predicting seasonal average temperatures?
Where do you get the temperature from for the total accumulation charts? How is it worked out? And the rainfall charts too. Is it an accumulation of all the weather stations of Britain?
We know it's cold. Can we stick to the jetstream and dynamics of the moving weather systems. That's the challenge!
As the Weather Person on the local news said it's going to be a dry sunny day, today, the heavens opened with hail on the skylight above our bed! Accurate forecast for Reighton please? Not once in 15 years... Love you though....
The only reason I would be interested in the weather in the US is if it will affect the UK, and even then, I'd be more interested in the meteorological science behind the interactions (i.e whips up the jet stream etc).
Staying chilly for now.
Most unwelcome, need warmer weather so you wouldn't need a coat
Is the omega block due to the 5 area block. One of your colleagues mentioned high pressure to the east of high ground in USA and Russia. Hope I am making sense.
What's wrong with the water from the tap?
Nothing wrong with the water from the tap, quite nice to not pay bottle water prices in a bar
When will it change 😮
After a lovely few days here in Ireland 🇮🇪 its gonna turn to more average conditions, 20.1c yesterday it reached ,great drying weather
Where in Ireland are you? It's freezing in Dublin
@Zoe-dr5ps I'm in Leitrim lovely and warm here especially in a sun trap
@@darraghgregory1269 sounds lovely. Nice and quiet. Unlike this hell hole
@Zoe-dr5ps ah well I used to live in Dublin originally from Tallaght but moved 5 years ago and we down here gets about 30 more rain days than Dublin a year so at least yous don't have that
@@darraghgregory1269 I'd take the rain tbh. Id be afraid i wouldn't get a job if i moved. Is there much work there?
Freezing cold winter in scotland as usuall!!
does anyone know where spring has gone ?
It is in a cupboard somewhere I think. Not seen it around here that I am aware of.
I would never have guessed that our warmest month (on average) is October!
Thanks ,Alex . I wonder how long it will be before we are complaining that it is too hot ? I do like the idea of possible thunder storms this coming weekend , though .
Enjoyed this deep dive? Not the word I'd use. Glued to it in horror, misery and resignation more like. Warmest April on record, you say? Err....OK.
It would be interesting to see more data about wind speeds.😀
Not sure about back in to the mid teens temp ,in the north we've not had any days above 14 degrees since last September a very long winter, with a lot of rain all winter especially nov, December were we had rain most days apart from the week it dropped to minus 6 for a week ,very unusual thinking back to lock down were march and April were it was in the 20s ,maybe El Nino has caused it .
Can u compensate us for this weather for a first class flight to any destination in the world 🤔
(Jk lol)
I've put in your request
there are many methods on plastic recycle, especially making the patrol out of and with no losses, means total plastic can be converted but will you mention that? I don't think so.
I heard him say the weekend would be warm and wet. He got the wet right but it is v cold I am just outside North London.
Note parts of East Africa , example Kenya are suffering severe drought ! the rain will help ?
Its not cold. I live in a van and its really not cold.
will there be thunder near london
Thanks Alex maybe the sudden stratosphere warming is another cause that happened in March that can have an impact slow moving as you’ve said before a number of weeks later.
Unsettled lol been like that for 6 months
The Brit and the Ire isles are the Atlantic weather break for the european continent... It's like Philippines isle being Pacific weather break for southeeast asia, or Indonesia being indian weather break for the same region. They take the brunts from the weather violences before waters hits the mainland continent. Thou it's not that easy to trending the brit weather because of the north pole low pressure during the season change.
I don't use shower gel or cream and instead have moved back to soap bars and there are less plastic bottles in the shower unit now. plan to do the same with shampoo
Not been warm in s East at all
Do you think we will have a storm, Lillian
How's the new baby Alex?
hi
Gale = to windy how can it not?
“chilly” 😂😂. it’s been 16c in glasgow with the sun out third day in a row now
It's cold
just make up the weather as you go think i will just put my head back in the sand like the rest zzzzzzz
Why bother naming depressions? for people to be more aware or what? wasn't it a US thing for naming hurricanes
It's to help raise awareness yes. You'll notice that videos with named storms have lots of views as a result. This does bring in a mixture of people though as you get those who laugh at it and say it's silly alongside those who appreciate it but regardless, it still brought in more attention.
