I loved Roy on his ESPN show. He was a great interviewer and communicator. He got on an elevator I was on in Phoenix. He smiled and then turned around. Pretty cool.
I wish they would bring back Up Close with Firestone even if it was for a limited time. I miss the long format interview like Up Close and Later with Bob Costas. Doesn't seem like those would be expensive to produce.
Roy was the best! never had a bad show, very talented and should still be on TV!!
Roy Firestone. Larry King. Tom Snyder. Best ever, all!..
Roy Firestone and Geroge Michael Sports Machine remind me of when I was a kid!
Loved those shoes. Very underrated.
Great memories -- those two.
I could listen to Roy stories all day long
was in another room when this interview was playing and i thought Sir Paul McCartney was on with Dan...spot on i say
Enjoyed “Up Close”. Watched it often back in the 90s. Been wondering what happened to Roy.

Watched Up Close a lot, even when it was then known as "Sports Look"

Me too. Much better than "Pardon The Interruption".
Roy began doing local sports in late 70s and early 80s on Ch.4 in L.A.
Al Bundy's interview was fantastic.
Roy is a Great Storyteller.
Great Charles Barkley answer.
