Just as a precaution go ahead and inject the squash vines with BT. Cover areas where the vines touch the ground with some soil or mulch. Most varieties of squash will set root and it will be like you’ve planted another squash plant.
Yes, today Fridays heat index is 109 in northern Mississippi. I do water as much as we can with rain water but when that runs our you have to use the county water hook up. Take care in this heat. God Bless.
Everything is looking good! Automation is key so don’t view it as not being grateful. Helps you grow on the homestead. Also check out Melody at Bake a Leg and Let’s Dig it on YT. She talked about squash bugs eating her zucchini stalks in a recent video!
I'm so relating to your watering wants! We are completely off grid, without a well, using IBC with a pump at the moment, saving and praying for a well for water. We aren't saving enough water to get us through the dry seasons.
Oh my goodness!! Do you have any form of rain catchment set up? That helped us a lot. Plus our friends that let us fill our IBC’s at their houses. I truly hope you can manage to get your well (and it’s a successful dig) soon!!!
@@arusticrenaissance Yes, we have 4 water catchment systems with a total 6 IBC tanks. Having to make real life with water conservation decisions is sometimes a tough part of this life right now. Lack of rain has been a real issue.
@@thewildingslanding Totally get it. We used to have “competitions” of how little water we could use to shower. Sounds ridiculous but when we first moved here and had no set up our only friend was an 1-1/2 away and getting water was an ordeal. The competition kept up moral. Sending you best wishes for an early solve. Please share when you get your well. We can all rejoice!!💚
Hello, I wish I had a weedy garden right now… it was so wet this spring we didn’t get a garden out this spring maybe I can get a fall garden out. Enjoy the heat, Lisa @moneypit homestead
@@arusticrenaissance yeah. We just moved to our new home in February and then quickly decided to get chickens. So many things I want to do but with limited funds and time it is so hard sometimes. And weeding always sounds like the thing to put off first.

Oh no!! Im SO sorry to hear this!! Wishing you a glorious fall garden!
I am guilty of that as well; eating stuff straight out of the garden and not have enough to can or freeze! Oh well!! :)
Just rewards for our hard work!!
My garden faced a lot of neglect this year as well.
It’s like the busiest time of year! Everything happens when it’s garden time 🤣

@@GunterHomestead Lol! Yes! “Put weeds off first” We are gonna get along JUST fine 🤣
@@arusticrenaissance can we call it ground cover and pretend it is intentional?
