RIP Tiote and RIP the Boss Keshi. Sunday Mba scored 2 of the most important goals in Nigerian football history in one tournament and went back to league 2 obscurity. What an era.
Yeah I remember. Rumour had it that a return flight had already been booked before the game for super eagles. Ivory Coast were also hot then. But our boys turned the narrative around and became favourites to win the tournament.
@@chrisrebirthhow can you compare them to this Ivory coast side? This win then was the one that decided the final sef. We were underdogs here bro. Maybe you weren't watching football then
Wow..this was prime Ivory coast team with some of the biggest names in world football..Yaya, Drogba, Kalou, late Tiote etc...Sunday Mba..the reason Nigeria was able to win Afcon again after so many years..he stepped up and score almost all match winning goal in knockout stages that year..but not appreciated enough even by the late Keshi..he was dropped before confederation cup and world cup eventually..that Mikel, Mba, Onazi midfield could match any top team in Europe then..sadly the main plug of the group was taken off
I almost didn’t want to watch the match because I was scared of ivory coast at that time. I would have missed an historic game. The Nigerian team was highly spirited even the Ivory Coast players could feel something different. The super eagles wanted the victory more.
They had Drogba, Yaya Toure, Kalou, Gervinho, Tiote all playing well for top Premier league clubs. I didn't think we would win. History has shown Nigeria perform better as under dogs than when favourites
NIGERIA SHOULD HAVE JUST CONTINUED WITH STEVEN KESHI.. EVEN TO THE WORLD CUP WE WOULD HAVE DONE WELL. ITS FOOTBALL POLITICS AND GREED THAT IS KILLING NIGERIA FOOTBALL
This game made me to believe that football is a game of 11 vs 11.... on paper they wrote off Nigeria 🇳🇬 but a team with Vincent Enyeama at the back should be given more attention
As a Nigerian this game make me love Drogba more he's strong emotionally despite the fact that he never won any afcon he play without letting the emotion take over him, despite he lost he's strong and doesn't let down emotional, one of the greatest player that deserve to have won the afcon I remember when he lost the final against Egypt I was a bit defastated.
@@gracetograce9058 yes I remembered every bit of the final he lost, I'm a Barcelona fan but I started loving him at late of his career even more after his demise, man deserve the trophy and doesn't deserve my dislike during his pick time, I love him as a footballer. I'll never dislike every African footballer again no matter the rival.
MBA really gave us this trophy he gave us the lead against strong cotdevoir team back then and also gave us the only goal in the finals to win the trophy
The only thing we lacked then is the only thing we have in abundance now... Good strikers. From coach to keeper to defenders to midfielders, Nigeria was a complete team.
WOW! those teams i think were much better than current ones. the talent level was amazing. many guys in the premier league, not just as players but as star players. miss those guys!!! imagine drogba, the toure brothers, wow!!
I still ask myself if Nigeria can still discover a talented goalkeeper like Enyeama.Well I believe we will. Because he have had great ones like IKE Shoromu and Peter Rufai. Currently we lack good Goalkeeper and defenders , perhaps midfielders too. Our forwards are strong
Nigeria were the underdogs in this tournament. We went into the AFCON 2013 with majorly average players. only a few big names like Enyeama, Mikel, Musa, Onazi
I remember the late coach Keshi made it obvious that whoever was in the team (super eagles ) was there by merit, both home base or foriegn, I believe that if a home base player is allowed to keep, Bonniface and Sadique in the bench and some of our sluggish midfielders, most of them will sit up. What a humulating loss to Rwanda
Victor Moses was always running and celebrating every goal. Moses played with passion for Nigeria.
He came, did his best and left.
And Ademola Lookman is now currently holding down dat position perfectly now✅
RIP Tiote and RIP the Boss Keshi.

Thank you for the archive. R.I.P the great and legendary Stephen Keshi.
The last coach we had was Stephen Kechi
The last goalkeeper was Vincent Enyeama
Obviously, pathetic watching Nigeria football now and their so called adminstration.
A coach that that's always taking bribe.
The influence of a good great coach can never be erased.
😅 maybe future ones will come up na. You can't tell
But I admire the Ivorian jersey and kit 😂😂😂
The dedication and commitment of this Nigerian Team was something else
Seeing Enyeama in goal with so much confidence make me miss those wonderful days
Thanks to NFF for hiring and retaining a lackluster technical team
Now there's NWABALI
Rip legendary coach Stephen Keshi
Whoelse noticed having a good keeper and defence saved Nigeria in this match. I wish Nigeria all the best in this AFCON
Memories…especially Sunday Mba winning the goal for us ..Emenike was on fire for us
I remember how super eagles were written off before the match. They stood their grounds and won
Yeah I remember. Rumour had it that a return flight had already been booked before the game for super eagles. Ivory Coast were also hot then. But our boys turned the narrative around and became favourites to win the tournament.
Noting like written off, even u urself thought d same tin dat ivorycoast had already won d match lols
Even you wrote them off.
😮
Ten years later, Côte d'Ivoire get its revenge in AFCON Final
Yeah but they also won it in 2015, the afcon, I'm talking about cote d'ivoire
And the First goal is exactly the same as of 2024 AFCON FINAL 😮😮😮😮😮

Sunday Mba's goal was a classy one.
Quality of the Nigerian League.
The deflection made it classy. Not who he meant to do, thank God he turned winner.

And those guys were so committed
Emenike was top notch that tournament pls..his combination with vuctor moses was glorious
Emenike and Brown Ideye were top notch in that tournament. Ideye was the silent achiever paving way for other attackers.
