IMHO, the addition of the Creamback seems to add a smoother, full range component. In addition, I think I'm hearing cleaner upper transients.
I agree. Overall a nice rounded sound.
I have a question! If playing live and you can only mic up one speaker (I.e. we decide micing up the V30), how much would the Creamback vibrations affect the sound coming through the miced speaker?
@@pedrogarciarobleto it might do something small that probably wouldn't be very noticable. Dual micing cabs isn't all that uncommon though.
@shimelberger would be very interesting making a test and see the differences.
I have a 2x12 cab with chinese v30s and a creamback arriving tomorrow. So thank you for confirming my choices. That's the difference in sound I'm looking for.
I am happy I could help!
The Creamback H75 thickens up the sound. I like it. Using this combo in my Fender Twin Reverb.
Def could tell the difference, smoother mids. That being said, I feel like if you’re a rhythm player the “chugs” suffer a bit, but if you play mostly leads it’s a no brainer win!
For sure. I think in a 6x12 config it would be nice to have one or two to mic up.
I think it sounds great. Love from your Madre!
Thanks Madre ❤
I had the same combo. Love it. Changed the cream for dv77. I like the cream and v 30 better.
Was playing around with this combo and couldn’t really get with it. On a whim I tried the G12M-65 and the relatively dark DV77 together, and I’m pretty well settled on that combo. I thought I’d want a creamback and something brighter, but the newer creambacks are pretty bright to start with, and the combo of it and a dv77 is great while allowing the presence knob of my head to have some actual usable range
Honestly both sounded pretty good, matter of preference only.
Fair!
I like it with the creamback.
Me too :-)
both sound great, still prefer straight 30's
Yea, they are goated for sure.
Interesting video! What’s the guitar (s770?) pickups and signal chain?
Thanks! The guitar is an Ibanez S2170FW Prestige. That runs into my Quad Cortex (it's a Hermansson Mesa Triple Recto capture with a Precision Drive in front) to a Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170. Maybe I should do a walk through video of presets and gear 🤔
Which Creamback were you using in this video?
Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 12" 75-Watt 16 Ohm Speaker 2010s
I love Creambacks but I have to give it t the V30/V30 in this demo. IMO, the M65 Creamback is way smoother than the H75 if that's your goal. The only issue in a horizontal 2x12 is that the M65 is 97db (H75 and V30 are 100db). I use the M65 in the top of a vertical 2x12 and 4x12 w/UK V30's on bottom. so the sensitivity difference gets remedied and it really smooths out that V30 spike. Many argue that the 97db vs 100db isn't a problem in a horizontal 2x12 (Bogner uses that combo in their Helios 2x12 cabinet) but I can hear the volume difference. BTW, did you say the V30 in your Mesa was Chinese? It should be UK made. Pretty sure all Mesa V30's are UK.
Interesting. I didn't know about that dB difference. Yea, I misspoke in the video but corrected it on screen.
I think it does add a touch of smoothness in the same way that alnico over ceramic magnets impact an otherwise similar pickup. In conclusion I don't think one is "better" - they both have their place
Apt comparison! Yea, I like this mix specifically in the 2x12. I think when I combine it with the 4x12 full of v30s it's going to be perfect.
hi what years v30 do you like? thanks
2005 is my favorite
Enjoyed the video. I’m wanting to put an H cream back along with my 2004 Mesa 4x12. Could you do some content on that?! Thx!
I don't think I will swap a creamback into the 4x12 but if I change my mind I will def post it!
Creamback is BEEFY
Hey man, is this a H-creamback, M, or what?
It is the H
Not bad. Would’ve preferred hearing what a Creamback M would’ve sounded like instead of the H
Bogner Helios 2x12 has V30 + CB65-M combo
Really? I’ll have to check it out then. Thanks for the info! 👍🏼
@@sordid_mind Actually, I have the Avatar G212 Vintage cab. You can load the V30 + CB65-M speakers or MANY other speaker types. You can even order the empty cab and put your own speakers in!
GB×CB is totally worth it
Do you think a green back would complement a V30 in a similar way?
It actually doesn't, I have one set up I need to switch out
@@howardgillingham4763 good to know.
@@shimelberger Friedman uses V30 + G12M-25 in their cabs, and the Dr. Z Z Best cab uses a V30 + G12H-30. Greenback + V30 is a classic combo.
However, I think the Creambacks are increasingly popular for blending with V30s because the power handling is more similar and they hold together a bit better for heavy, modern playing.
To my ear, Greenbacks are a little more hairy, classic, vintage, raw, etc. and Creambacks are a bit more smooth, modern, and refined.
That being said, M and H magnets make a difference in both - I'd go for M magnets if I wanted something more throaty/vocal/full and the H magnets for something more tight/aggressive/defined, generally speaking.
Who could tell with all that gain
😂
You tone chaser/pickers…😂
Good luck finding your perfect tone
You more of a set it and forget it kinda person?
That’s the fun part.
Perhaps it's the journey.
