🌊 Kia Mataara: Celebrating every safe return. 🌊
The ocean can be a dangerous place. Every boatie heading out on the water needs to follow the 3 safety rules. And every safe return, deserves to be celebrated.
So we did exactly that. We welcomed an unsuspecting group of safe boaties returning to shore. How? With a huge fanfare, live on the Orakei Marina.
Our welcoming party included a brass band, dancers, Safer Boating NZ, Police and Customs boats with sirens blaring and lights flashing. We even had an honour guard of Safer Boating NZ members whooping and cheering on the jetty.

✨About Coastguard:
Coastguard is powered by volunteers. In the last year, our 2,000+ volunteers gave an incredible 273,269 hours of their time to saving lives at sea - a remarkable statistic by any measure. They conducted nearly 2,600 operations and brought 6,300 people home to safety, rescuing 142 people and saving six lives - all in the face of adverse weather conditions, particular in the North Island.
