My mother laundered textile for a long long time. Hydrogen peroxide cab restore the white without causing any damage at all to the fabric. At the most 3%
How beautiful is this family that even in their sadness they still want to find whoever owns this dress to return it. Bless this family & all of the families that were affected by the store’s ignorance & closure!!!! 😢❤
I got married the 1st time in 1975. My mother made my beautiful dress. My daughter didnt want it. When my 3 granddaughters were in their teens they each tried it on. Only one of my granddaughter's wanted my dress. She probably wont wear it but wants to have it updated and maybe dyed for a fancy dress. I'm very happy to give it to her.
I see a lot of people asking about or saying to make sure you check the dress but that DEFEATS THE PURPOSE! The entire point of having it preserved is to have it folded and SEALED to be able to take it back out many, many, many years later for an occasion JUST LIKE THIS! It keeps it from yellowing and disintegrating!
Why all the nasty comments? It’s beautiful that she wants to wear her Moms dress. It may be out of date but it can be altered or pieces of her Moms dress can be used in a new one. She wants a piece of her Moms big day on her person when she gets married. I understand that. Why can’t others get that? Men do pass items down. Handkerchiefs. Cuff links. Watches. I do know someone that wore his Dads shoes. ❤️
I understand also. I wear a pair of my mums shoes. She’s passed and when I miss her I walk around in them.I feel like she’s with me. I worked in a nursing home. An old man passed and his kids told us nurses “ take anything you want bc we’re throwing it all out” I took a belt for my sons pants for high school and he loved wearing it bc he had met the man a few times at my work and it kept his school pants from falling. Win/ Win 😊
I wasn’t apart of a family that did these traditions. But even if I was, Id definitely want my own dress. Keep it for memories but not to let others wear or destroy for pieces.
Hope you could find your mom's wedding dress, it was beautiful. My mom's wedding dress in 1973 doesn't fit me at all when i was in my mid 20's (she was 30yrs old when she got married). It look like a dress of a teenager, like super small and slim, like the waist was 22 and my waist that time was 28, the chest was 32, mine was bigger.
I feel sad for the mum. I understand trusting someone to do the right thing and it wasn’t. You’re heart would break. I had my mums baseball jacket preserved and my dads football jacket persevered. but they just came in clear plastic wrap so I could see it . But I would have been livid if someone stole or mixed them up. her daughter actually looked gorgeous in the other dress . Either way the daughter is going to look beautiful ❤
@@Narutocoolcat I agree. I am 60. People back then usually had pride in their work. Now they throw things together and call it done. Young people now don’t know what our mindset was back then. This is so heartbreakingly sad ,this Mom was almost in tears the whole time she was talking about her dress 😭😭😭😭😭 When I saw the short I thought it was going to be found and get another happy ending but nope ,shame on ehomever messed this up ,her dress was gorgeous ,just gorgeous .
Funny. Similar thing is happening to my friend. Her mom passed away a while ago. And in all the chaos I guess her mom was known for wearing 2 certain scarfs, that may have been sent to goodwill or some type of donation thing for clothes. She put the word out there to hopefully get them back or someone being able to spot them.
After my divorce I donated my wedding dress drop it off in one of those boxes you see . I also donated a maid of honor dress the same day. My wife's was from 98. We took bad damage in hurricane Irma. We decided to open the box because the box was damaged, but we found the dress was missing. Only satin material with glued on beads and the Vail.
Had my dressed preserved in 1971. Took it out for ourv25th wedding anniversary party. Then I failed to have it preserved again and after another 25 years I took it out of 1971 box and it had yellowed. I took it to a cleaners to try to have it restored & preserved, but it did not come out as hoped. I would still like to try to have it whitener. Any suggestions?
