Your combinations are marvelous. I’m currently having to fire at an outside pottery. They fire to cone six. I throw white stone wear. Have tried to recreate some of the combos I’ve seen, and they don’t usually come out the same. Frustrated, because I love the art of glazing on my pottery art. Thanks for sharing.
@@betsykanteles4533 aw thank you so much! Hmmmm maybe I can help figure it out..which combos have you tried and what did they come out like? Also, when in doubt..I go a little more heavy handed on the inside of pieces!
These are sooo gorgeous!! Wow!! Great tutorial as well!! My pearl white is pretty thick and was drying really fast, to the point I couldn’t get it to spread so I put a few small drops of gum solution in it and mixed it well and it’s perfect now. I did the same thing with the power turquoise!! What a great idea to buy the tips instead of the small squeeze bottles and having to transfer the glaze into them and then having to clean them etc. Such great tips and tricks.
Thank you sis!!!!! Omg yes you told me about the gum solution! Can u send me a link for that? Also, the caps are awesome but because the bottle is big, u gotta shake it really good otherwise it comes out so thick! At least the moody blue did 😂
@@thehappyhomesteadnh I got my gum solution from Minnesota clay I think so it’s just their brand. You just have to use the tiniest bit then mix to see if it’s right. I did this too a bunch of my glazes recently. It’s so much better than adding water because water just dilutes the product. The gum solution makes it spread so much better. A lot of glazes get what is called thixotropic which means if it is left to sit it is very thick but once you shake it it will flow well. Can’t wait to get the tips! And I was just thinking that o don’t think I have a big bottle of moody blue so I’m going to have to order some! These glaze combos are gorgeous!!! Loading the kiln today! Not sure if I’ll get it done in one go or take 2 days but it’s finalllly happening! The first one of the year and it’s April for crying out loud.

Hey Molly Thankyou so much I love this video! My pearl white is like runny custard. My reactive red n soft red are like thick blobs I have to scrape out like oatmeal. I’ve been wondering if I can add water to them?
Hey!!!! You are so welcome 🤗 Michelle Dickey recommended gum solution instead of water, which is what I normally do..water it down 😆 I’m going to try the gum!
@@mervebkm9197 not at all!! You can play around with different glazes and get really cool effects! But if you are looking for runny glazes, make sure to use those in combination! how does a stroke and coat run like it has here (the moody blue) when they usually stay put like an underglaze usually? Is it due to the muddy waters over top?
@@MissJB1985 it definitely needs a runny glaze under or over for it to run. I usually use pearl white or soft white by spectrum or honey flux by amaco. The muddy waters may work in its own w the stroke and coat but I’ve never tried it!
You said the pearl white was thick for the 2 first layers, why did you do the third? Is it the thicknes of the layer that give pinholes, not the combined thickness of the glaces?
@@ingegerdandersson6963 I think it was definitely the thickness of the glaze itself. I wanted to make sure I got runny oozy deliciousness..but sometimes I over do it 😂

It CAN be glazed if there’s a foot on the bowl and room between the bottom of the bowl where it’s glazed and the shelf. I always measure the depth by laying a ruler or something very flat and sturdy across the foot to make sure there’s space so when the bowl is on the shelf in the kiln, the bottom of the foot is sitting on the shelf - and the glazed portion is slightly higher giving space. I also wax the foot ring on the bowl as I would the bottom of a mug, leaving a little of the raw clay. Hope that makes sense and great question 🙋🏻♀️!!
Both bowls are stunning. Love that you share your combinations. Thank you.
