It's like any other brand. People tend to stick to very few colors so they don't stand out. Also a too personal color would make a change to a new car a costly business as it would be hard to sell.
Martin Allen but you have to remember that bmw has to make useless expensive things for money because if you didnt know bmw is the most poor company on the planet soooo.......
Oh that's what I thought too before I joined PPG and learnt a little thing or two about color. They started to show me the thousands of variants for a single color. PS: we manufacture paints for all the OEM"s!
After waiting 6 months for my 2015 BMW M5 Pure Metal Grey, I can honestly say it was worth every penny. The color is outstandingly brilliant and much better looking in person.
Retards are everywhere. Searching for a relation between brand and person is nonsense. But BMW is a relatively common car but not everyone can afford it so stupid people with a BMW stand out more than a stupid VW Polo driver. Or a Citroen Xantia.. or whatever. It is usually simplier minded people who do such corelation with each other.
***** who in their right mind would spend 8 hours on that? Ours spend 3 since that's what their paid for. They hand wash all the cars and hand dry, then wax and buff them. Good luck in finding a "real" detailer spending 8 hours on your car...
Brandon Friesen it's clear you know very little of what you're talking about. To detail and protect a car properly some would take longer. You can't put a time limit on perfection.
And this is the sad reality why India keeps being what it is. You guys have no understanding of true quality and no eye for the small line that separates the average from the outstanding.
Cricis11700 most new BMWS don't come with signal turners anymore but there is a 200£ option which includes a white short sleeved shirt , sunglasses and a Bluetooth hands free.
...and then some jackass sideswipes your car in a parking lot. Good luck recreating that immaculate paint job with its "aluminum flecks all going in one direction."
My 2003 5 Series got hit three different times last year, and only in one case did the person responsible pay (I was out my thousand dollar deductible for the other two, even though I had zero percent responsibility.) That said, I don't take up two spaces because I think the odds are pretty good that some resentful person will key it just out of spite. I just wish people were more careful and courteous.
Or, matters could take a different path. I leased my current 2003 5 Series for three years, and promptly purchased it once the lease expired. Continuous care by Otto's BMW's service department (West Chester, PA) has yielded 13 years (and counting) of supreme driving pleasure.
Each to his own. I got an excellent price for what became a BMW Certified Pre-Owned vehicle with an extended warranty. As the sole driver for those first three years, I knew both the use and service history. Nothing hidden. I haven't gone back to check the specifics -- and I could have a major expense coming at any moment -- but my annual "cost of ownership" on my 5 Series (excluding tires) averages about $500 per annum. I just hope nobody totals my car. There's no way I could replace it for the insurance.
The cost of this paint is 40x higher, because there are people stupid enough to pay for it, just BECAUSE it is expensive. It's not even nice. Looks silver, not chrome.
i use the same types of finishes "chrome" "ghost chrome" "shadow chrome" on alloy wheels, its only about 20% more expensive but you only need arround half the volume, with the extra prep reqired this paint costs twice as much at most
Having Painted professionally before, I can really appreciate what happens here to get this perfect.. Painting metallics is really an art and robotics can absolutely get it perfect.. Notice all these craftsmen use their bare hands and fingers over the paintwork? It is the only way to really feel the paintwork.. No stupid plastic bags - I could never understand why everyone says you need one to feel the paintwork better. And no, no idiotic "sand down" etc., is ever going to equal this.. You dont need to "sand down" this because you are starting out with perfectly straight, prepared, panels.. Is it worth an extra $10k ? If you could get something this good from a Paint Shop somewhere, it would probably cost MORE.. How many Bimmers do you see running around with clear coat/single stage, failure, fading, etc.. ? Yeah, none, except maybe one that is 30+ years old, never repainted, and never cared for.. :)
Silver is also the national racing colour of Germany. It is the perfect combination of practicality and visuals since it's bright and underlines the shapes of the car but also hides most of the dirt that would otherwise be visible on a white paint.
Yes,yes, I sure love my Estoril blue ///M 328 . I could have had any other car any color but I had to have this one. Everybody from gas stations to traffic lights always say I like the color.
i am sure turn signal light is included coz it cost BMW extras to install a cover for the turn signals. but i am pretty sure the signal stalk at the steering wheel is a $6,669 option
MKRM27 any car by any brand that is high end? at least at the shops i visit. but don't buy a 1 or 3 series and think they are gonna spend 10.000s on paint lol
Has anyone ever tried to keep a car without orange peel looking good? Every little swirl shows up 5x worse on a show car like finish, not very practical on a car that likely goes through an automatic wash on a weekly basis!
I think now we all understand a bit more about what it takes to be premium and perfect :) Mad respect, people who've been doing their jobs for 37 years!
Very nice and very exclusive. But, what happens if you have an accident which needs a major repaint job? Send the car back to the BMW specialist paint shop in Germany?
+Ivan Nichols I believe your cooling system and water pump impeller are metal, they have been plastic for the last 18 years or so. My e39 cooling system has been replaced 4 times with 115k on it. When the 335i came out they were overheating like crazy that they had to go back and add oil coolers to existing cars.
The brilliance of this type of this paint job can only be truly appreciated by professional techs in the auto paint industry. It's more of how they paint it than the actual color itself. I imagine that seeing this color with the naked eye in natural lights is also night and day from seeing it via YT.

Damian but repairers don't match paint for age anyway. the colour swatch and the colour that's on your car isn't the same. either way, your paint isn't going to match.
sultanabran1 my painter color matches by code and then makes adjustments by eye based on conditions like age. My paint matches perfectly for simple colors.
"This color is a real expression of personality." Yeah, the kind of personality that says, "I waste money to make my car look like a Camry from Enterprise."
This shows how much BMW work hard to keep there paint jobs bang up to date without any mistakes what so ever. It's not just with there posh ///M cars either, i'm on the BMW website all the time and these fancy colors are available on something as basic as a BMW 1 series diesel, THEY DO! That's what i love about the BMW car makers they just want to make everything as high tech and great as possible, not like the basic stuff you get in VW,s.
Just put in my special order few days ago for Malachite green metallic; production week is on the 50th of this year, so hopefully by end of December/beginning of 2023 I should have it in my garage!
AlinMusicForLife I don't care if it has diamond and gold dust in it to give it a multi-tier sparkle. it's still fucking silver. It may be the best damn looking silver there will ever be on the road, but, it's still silver.
Steven Zettel If everyone would think like you, We would still be left with a Nokia Phone, A bike, ITS CALLED THINKING CREATIVE, DESIGNING NEW THINGS. Its like saying A Nokia and an Iphone 6 are no difference because "its just a fucking phone" Bruh... Open that hard brain of yours.
AlinMusicForLife That's an unfair comparison, an iPhone 6 can do massively more than a Nokia 3310 (assuming this is what you are referencing). This paint, however, is still...paint. Does it look better than any other silver on the planet? Possibly. Does it look even better than true refined silver itself? Possibly. But...can it do anything more than a regular paintjob? No. It is still, just a paintjob. Now, maybe it's the best paintjob in the world. Maybe it has more hours and care and R&D into it than any other car paint. Maybe that price is actually a steal for how much goes into it. But...it's still just a paint. And it's still fucking silver.
Clear coat application. It doesn't always dry completely smooth. You can remove it by wet sanding, which is, I think, the step where they "polished" the car.
+jzizzles thats correct... old cars have an alot smother looking surface... the newer paint (since 90s i think) is waterbased and doesnt dry out as uniformly.
Anyone remember the Ford Mystichrome Cobra. That was a special color. This silver is nice when seen in person but doesn't impress like the Mystichrome blue that came on the Ford Cobra.
A pepsi rolex looks like a 200dollar pepsi seiko... so what is your point? High prized items have to be obvious so any fool can give you credit? lol buy a lambo then and some blinged out watch then
I work in a body shop doing insurance jobs. A black 2019 sedan came in my way. I would buy a manual transmission personally, as the automatic functions feel like an arcade toy, but this point I was making, I really appreciate the quality of the paint and it's denseness. It's not super soft like an American car, stripping it off easy, and it's not rock hard and dense. It was a medium firm if I had to describe it. Made for a flawless blend job that was simple. Car looked as if nothing happened to it before once finished. Details like this is what makes an auto company famous among car enthusiasts
Imagine if BMW did a 2 tone custom paint job like blue on certain parts the hood, trunk, roof, side skirts, and mirrors are painted in silver to give it kind of a sporty look.
James Mac Well colours for Range Rover autobiography top 14k$ so 10k is a bargain. Well it's "only" silver but it actually looks pretty fantastic in city lights. Saw one in London last week.
Best thing is, a guy in my neighbourhood has a m6 in this colour. Unless you put your nose on it you dont see a fucking difference with any other silver car
"What sort of BMW Individual paint schema defines me as a person....hmm" I appreciate the automobile craftmanship that has been put into this, but it's clearly marketing at it's best. You can get a sand down and a new paint job for $8,000 USD in my city that is on par with this paint job. But this is my point, there was no sand down and this is factory mass produced (Sorry but that's the truth). There's no way this is worth $10,000 USD. Just catering to the boring yuppie crowd of "Hmm I need a $10,000 silver paint job to define myself....but I'll get it on a lease" ROFL
I have had a brand new BMW each year for the past 3 years and I have to say the finish is pretty shocking. Very noticeable orange peel, very thin paint that chips easily (Water based) and I have even found lacquer runs on my 2015 4 series. You can certainly tell that a production line has been involved in the painting process. You cant beat a professional doing it all by hand.
Ask any professional painter and they will tell you factory paint jobs are some of the best. Maybe a smidge of orange peel but a production shop doing it by hand can't match robotics. Custom car paint jobs are wet sanded and buffed meticulously that takes enormous labor.
It's funny that BMW offer so many color variations, but I only really see 3-4 colors on the road normally
It's like any other brand. People tend to stick to very few colors so they don't stand out. Also a too personal color would make a change to a new car a costly business as it would be hard to sell.
Yes, try to get a pink paint job and see who will by it when you sell.
Chuck Norris Katie Price
Because they only offer a few colors to the US market.
black , white , blue, grey .
Just looks like silver.
Martin Allen The camera doesn't do the color justice
Eh, it's pretty, but not THAT pretty. If it was a bolder color that did the same, I'd be more interested.
Martin Allen
Martin Allen but you have to remember that bmw has to make useless expensive things for money because if you didnt know bmw is the most poor company on the planet soooo.......

Now do a video showing your customers how to use indicators.
lol
Dave johnson the reason why BMW drivers like don't indicate turn is because the signals are built so poorly
best comment yet
They come optional and you have to pay for every extra.
Retards are everywhere. Searching for a relation between brand and person is nonsense. please excuse my profanity but it looks like any other fucking silver out there
Florin B nope, sorry, canadian. hence the sorry
i think BMW has forgotten more than America could ever learn about car production...i thought America only made buses??
True
pictures and video never do things like this justice..
trust me I know. I use high end cameras for photography and now matter how good the picture/video it always looks 100× better in person.
Is it me or is this meh? M colors are soooo much more hot damn than this.
I think we all agree
You should see it in person. Beautiful color
+lupinearsenalALT I agree. This is... bland. I feel like the Titanium Silver Metalic is so similar it wouldn't be noticeable?
lupinearsenalALT ... I really think seeing it in person will be completely different.
Kr3wXv true, it's so much better in real life
Only to be completely ruined by the bumbling buffoon that "cleans" it when it arrives at the dealership.
Hahahahhaha So true. Also if the car ever gets damaged good luck on blending /matching it.
I work at a Bimmer dealer. Our detailers have proper equipment so that they do a proper job for a delivery clean.
You can have all the equipment in the world, doesn't change the fact they wont spend 8+ hours, doing a proper job like a real detailer would.
***** who in their right mind would spend 8 hours on that? Ours spend 3 since that's what their paid for. They hand wash all the cars and hand dry, then wax and buff them. Good luck in finding a "real" detailer spending 8 hours on your car...

Splendido Splendente silver not grey I think

lol, and they fucking painted it silver. the most bland color for a car ever
silver underlines the shape of the car.
Kokainsamurai no, silver makes a car look cheap and older than it really is. Black or white - and that's it
Andy B so not true, have we watched the same video?
Have youseen a gt3rs in gt silver in person? Silver van look awesome
Silver is also the national racing colour of Germany. It is the perfect combination of practicality and visuals since it's bright and underlines the shapes of the car but also hides most of the dirt that would otherwise be visible on a white paint.
For the amount of work and cost you would think they would wetsand and polish the clearcoat as a final step to get rid of all the orange peel.
Was thinking the exact same thing
If you pay attention you’d understand why there’s no need to because of the extensive prep of the paint and procedure
Orange peel is from contaminants and uneven application of paint, leave that for the American cars lol!
I'd take estoril blue over this any day
+George Patton for the 5 series you can get that only as an Individual Color option, and it's expensive, 3600 euros
Yes,yes, I sure love my Estoril blue ///M 328 . I could have had any other car any color but I had to have this one.
Everybody from gas stations to traffic lights always say I like the color.

Motecarlo Blue for me, Or if possible Laguna Seca blue. Not sure the right spelling for both, correct me if possible.

@Nomore4x4s Sue them
I wouldn't say its an expression of personality. Maybe something more like a "I have more money than you." kind of thing.
*well thet had more money, but spent it lol.
Alpine white nice and simple ...
Seaside Blue is one of the best colors they've produced, IMO. I absolutely love it. Pure Metal Silver is great, as well!
This "special" silver color looks about as "special" as a silver paintjob on a 1990 Honda Civic
Lil Bill I think you need to go and check your eyesights. “Same” lol
I bet the artists only like it because they get paid 40x more for it.
Alex Glase " capitalism "
@Brandon Plata They work for free?
Looks much much better in person the camera can't pick it up
Yea I thought the same
Get a better camera.
I'm sorry but I assumed that if people were paying over 10k for a silver paint then maybe they could afford a camera that might show it off a little
Does it comes with a turn signal?
I think you pay extra for those. I don't see why you would pay extra for those, though. It's not necessary like this immaculate paint job.
well said
i am sure turn signal light is included coz it cost BMW extras to install a cover for the turn signals. but i am pretty sure the signal stalk at the steering wheel is a $6,669 option
Verdy Verdiansya is
Offer paint work from factory without "orange peel".
stop buying low end vehicles then

ill just read the paint code from the door and ill have myself a $100 job. LOL
NUCK CHORRIS they ahould learn to but a decent and reliable car first lol
I would understand if it was a blue color, and I'm not even a fan of blue. But silver. Hell no, I wouldn't even pay $500 for that.

Only thing you need now is an option for MANUAL, for any model.
Bulletproof M50B25 with ZF 5 speed manual transmission
Dont forget that they unscrew the blinker lights before the car gets sold off. THAT IS A MUST
I wish you were this accurate and detailed with your engines and transmissions as you are with this paint job ....
Rather have a matte black
Me too
satin black, matte black looks too dull and lifelless
But it looks beast doe.
Matte silver is better
Lots of "if i can't have it, it's stupid."
what incredible workmanship - artistry happens in many ways. . .
BMW, how about making a cooling system that doesn't fail, then worry about the paint.
+Ivan Nichols you just wait

I think it's funny them putting there oily fingers on the unpainted metal
Greasy german fingers are the secret ingredient in a silky smooth paint :))

exactly

Oscar _jcd waste*
Oscar _jcd they will get it wrapped to protect the paint for resale

Oscar _jcd it's the BMW way personally I don't like it
Dj Mystery same tbh
I don't see how this is so special.
It just looks metallic... and that's pretty much it...
bad thing is that no bodyshop can replicate this paint if you damage the car.

That's what i love about the BMW car makers they just want to make everything as high tech and great as possible, not like the basic stuff you get in VW,s.
Just put in my special order few days ago for Malachite green metallic; production week is on the 50th of this year, so hopefully by end of December/beginning of 2023 I should have it in my garage!
...it's fucking silver.
See it in person & not on your on 19 inch tiny dead pixel monitor.
AlinMusicForLife I don't care if it has diamond and gold dust in it to give it a multi-tier sparkle.
it's still fucking silver. It may be the best damn looking silver there will ever be on the road, but, it's still silver.
Steven Zettel If everyone would think like you, We would still be left with a Nokia Phone, A bike,
ITS CALLED THINKING CREATIVE, DESIGNING NEW THINGS.
Its like saying A Nokia and an Iphone 6 are no difference because "its just a fucking phone"
Bruh...
AlinMusicForLife And my monitor is 15.6in, thank you very much.
If you have so little personality that a special paint job will help you express who you are... well... go for it man, you deserve it.
Now answer me the question. Why every new car have paint like orange crust in it ? Its not like mirror ?!
Clear coat application. It doesn't always dry completely smooth. You can remove it by wet sanding, which is, I think, the step where they "polished" the car.
Because it's applied by machine and not buffed/cut afterwards.
It's due to the water based paint. Back in the old days, no one gave a shit about the environment.
+jzizzles thats correct... old cars have an alot smother looking surface... the newer paint (since 90s i think) is waterbased and doesnt dry out as uniformly.
Anyone remember the Ford Mystichrome Cobra. That was a special color. This silver is nice when seen in person but doesn't impress like the Mystichrome blue that came on the Ford Cobra.
i want to see how they make the frosty semi matte paint
Looks like nothing special to the normal person on the street. Looks like normal grey color like 50% of the cars out there
A pepsi rolex looks like a 200dollar pepsi seiko... so what is your point? High prized items have to be obvious so any fool can give you credit? lol buy a lambo then and some blinged out watch then
You're blind, Rusty.
lmao that's one way to come up with one hell of an argument. good job bruh
Hahaha looks like a normal silver
Imagine if BMW did a 2 tone custom paint job like blue on certain parts the hood, trunk, roof, side skirts, and mirrors are painted in silver to give it kind of a sporty look.
Only the Germans would have a special paint color
Ze Germans*
...wud häw a späschäl pehnt kolor
Mike Theunissen good catch
Travis Dezellem Hahaha, thanks. Also had a good laugh at HCL991's comment ahah :D
BEST OF BMW
So you pay 40 times the price of a baseline paint to have your car painted grey?
*silver. There's a difference.
AR1G3 that means that's like a $10,000 color... who tha fuck....
James Mac Well colours for Range Rover autobiography top 14k$ so 10k is a bargain. Well it's "only" silver but it actually looks pretty fantastic in city lights. Saw one in London last week.
This the best thing that human being have ever created ! Love it
Best thing is, a guy in my neighbourhood has a m6 in this colour. Unless you put your nose on it you dont see a fucking difference with any other silver car
I like Mineral White paint! Please, make a video about this great colour.
so this is most expensive color? Silver which I hate? I can live with that :D
This paint looks exquisite. I love it.
"What sort of BMW Individual paint schema defines me as a person....hmm"
I appreciate the automobile craftmanship that has been put into this, but it's clearly marketing at it's best. You can get a sand down and a new paint job for $8,000 USD in my city that is on par with this paint job. But this is my point, there was no sand down and this is factory mass produced (Sorry but that's the truth). There's no way this is worth $10,000 USD. Just catering to the boring yuppie crowd of "Hmm I need a $10,000 silver paint job to define myself....but I'll get it on a lease"
ROFL
Oh it's a shame people are so jealous.
The only colour in my local used BMW dealership is sun faded black.
@@jostrander71 Yes, but with time car paint services improved and factory quality degraded significantly, so difference used to be bigger than now
