As far as we understand it, it's caused when the guy grabs the ticket which then spawns an object in the same hitbox as Octodad. It appears that two objects being in the same space forces one away, in this case Octodad.

@@Joe_789 if you’re on console this trick doesn’t exist at all. Stick sensitivity, graphic settings, older map versions and certain tricks are PC only

The map has been patched for a while, but the game allows you to use the older maps by replacing them in the game folders
