I think we all have been there Gavin. Now I don't do an rc until I have plenty of free time. I am not a content creator however so I can understand where you are coming from. The blue really does look amazing.
Gran Turismo tells me I should put the harder compound tires on the drive wheels and the softer compound on the non drive wheels. If you don’t plan on driving it hard though it shouldn’t matter, considering you don’t really beat on any of your cars the tire setup should be totally fine 👍
Team Associated RC10 B6.4 2WD racing buggy is on its way from Rochester RC so stay tuned for the next series of, “Noob goes racing” I’ll still be racing my Cougar to compare times.
We have all done it! The two biggest things in painting is preparation and patience and both are ones that are often rushed a bit! I recently royally messed up my Dirt Master body by rushing it and trying to get too much done in too little time. Glad you were able to find another body set and great idea for the one with issues. A beaten and weather one is a great idea!
Good idea to do a weathered look to try and rescue the body but I wouldn’t do any rust because the the actual cars bodywork is made out of fibreglass which doesn’t rust!
Happens to us all at some point , the barn find sounds good though , look forward to seeing that . I built the lotus europa on that chassis and you need the cream springs on the back shock units, the manual does state which tyre compounds go on which end of the car but I can remember from memory . Looking forward to P2 ;)
Gav, there can't be rust on a fibreglass body like these cars have in real life. It's a real shame, but it happens to all of us at some point. I'm sure you can park it and fix it some other time. It's not going anywhere!☺️👌🏻
Mine was converted to hand formed steel back in the 1980s after a crash at a track destroyed the fibreglass. Five years later the engine went on it and since then it’s been stuck in a barn slowly rusting away. 😂
I also like that metallic blue. I used it to paint the wheels of my Lunchbox. No way was I ever going to have a yellow Lunchbox. 😁 I then decided to paint my Tamiya Racing Fighter metallic blue as well but this time I went with Absima paint instead of Tamiya (a quid cheaper and 50% more in the can) and it came out great. It is lighter shade of blue than the Tamiya but it looks great. Good luck with part 2. Mistakes are only bad if we fail to learn from them. 😉
Awww! The truth came out😂 u was trying to get ready for racing and got a little excited because u was rushing our video so ur selfish self could go racing. Lol.. but it's OK. Take ur time. We will be here👍I'm glad u messed it up! Because I like the sound of the rusted and beat up body. So do us all proud and give us a good video. And also I hope the racing went well for u.
I am doing the car in blue same as rally car I got the proper wheels from Japan and am going to put led in it also bits it’s not a hurry a bit at a time it should look like the first release version when am done. 😊
I like your videos, just a "realism hint" on your weathere shell project: the real car body was made of frp, so you would never see an alpine with rust!😉
I'd do the second body in any colour, but that one, as that's the rallye team colour we all have seen on it for five decades now. Without the familiar rallye decals it might look unfinished also. I think, the Alpine looks nice and elegant in light, pale metallic yellow and green hues or sporty in bright primary/secondary colours. The rust idea is quite queer, as the original body is from fantastic plastic…
I think you should consider adding an alternative long/detailed build&paint videos (along with detailed talking on why/what/how, even a live build?). I'm betting that there is a good chance that also for some of the experience builders, it is nice to see a through build without the 'blink of the eye' magic.
I’ve done loads more detailed builds in the past along with step by step painting guides. Most viewers don’t bother to look at channels back catalog of videos and only watch the latest one or two.
@@RCKickschannel I think (most/ or just me) watch the new & whatever RUclips suggests and catch the eye. Having said that, you have no guide to M06 (yet ? 🙂)
Hi Gavin. Quick question, how happy are you with that SPT servo you installed ? Go-to cheap servo ? Thanks mate, looking fwd to seeing your imagination in action re the beat up body. Greetings from New Zealand.
This is an issue I have with buying Tamiya, it’s quite a lot of money and you end up having to upgrade it because of getting things like friction shocks on a £150+ kit! It sometimes feels like Tamiya get away with scrimping simply by trading on their name! I just find it a little disappointing and tend not to buy Tamiya. Great video and glad to see you’re as human as the rest of us 😂
Yeah I love that blue as well. Shame about the cock up, but it happens. I’d probably use that body as a runner. I bought the M0-6 kit with the Lotus Europa body. I have to say, the M0-6? I don’t love it.
Another mistake you made was painting the separate pieces that go on the rear wings silver, they are supposed to be body coloured. It’s definitely a shell that requires patience to achieve results! It’s a great looking car & I’m interested to see this turned into a beat up version.
Patience is very difficult while painting the body, everyone makes their experience with that, it always takes too long somehow ...you know... I'm kind of a rusher myself🫠...

HEY!! We got gaven back. He's going back to the ROOTS and doing a complete build👍heck yea. Cool video. Let's see more of these please.
You can find hundreds of builds in the channel back catalog 👍🏻
It happens to many of us. You have good advice.
verry good to show us this, i like it cus we all have these probleems every now and then
i rush it also want to see this finisd
The modern Alpine shell would look great!
It's comforting to know that someone with your experience can still sometimes have a full-blown painting disaster like us regular guys. lol
That is a Beautiful chassis! Great design.
Carson Paint killer FTW

Good honest vid👍
Awesome looking car, and agreed the blue looks better! Hope you get to fix it up soon!
Always enjoy your videos !! Especially the track ones. Keep it up!!

Ps-15 is lovley colour! Not nice to see but interesting that pros can mess up paint jobbsr aswell. Good video!
We (I) are still watching the vid, even when it comes out a day or 2 later. It's not like you have a schedule to adhere to, right?
No schedule, I release videos when I can and when I have budget.

Been there....done that.....I feel your pain 😎👍
Eucalyptus oil works great for removing paint from polycarbonate for future reference.👍
Softer springs and softer tires on the back. You want more rear grip, and less front grip. UNLESS, you just like spinning out everytime you turn.
Nothing worse than when it all goes horribly wrong, but sounds like it could turn out to be a winner, like the sound of a beaten up shell 👍
It happens to us all trying to repaint when it’s just not dry enough 😢
🖐️here!

Don't worry....that's my usual.👍decals hide a lot on that one.
You're right about the tyres. Soft on the back. For Springs and Tyres check the manual 😅 it' in there
Awesome such a cool car 😊❤️
Been there done that several times sadly and most recently with my Monster Beetle……on my 3rd body now!
We've all been there and no doubt we'll do it again and again...
Its my bad point unfortunately too
Careful, fiberglass doesn't rust. However is a very good idea to have this damaged body as a rally unit.
I’ll put all the rust on the underside lol
Number,#1😊

I didn’t know these came in anything but orange
Yep, original was metallic blue

I had a bad meltdown with a Bigwig bodyshell disaster recently. It took me a week before I could look at it and order another one lol :D
LOL Not alone :)
😆
Hi Gavin. Quick question, how happy are you with that SPT servo you installed ? Go-to cheap servo ? Thanks mate, looking fwd to seeing your imagination in action re the beat up body. Greetings from New Zealand.
SPT servo is fine for normal garden driving and a little bashing. I wouldn’t race it but for the money I’m happy with them.

agree. But look at it differently: you can get a TT-0X kit for about €80. The bodies alone sell for half that money. So in a way, a TT-0X costs €40 :)
What's the beginning piano sound track please??
Thanks
soft tires go on rear!
what bearing set works with this car?

Looking forward to see rust on an A110 LMAO. It has a composite body so the white "rash" is actually very realistic.
Oh dear gavin oh dear 😢
Yep, oh dear is what came out of my mouth a good few times. Never mind, I have a new body set on its way to try again lol
Another mistake you made was painting the separate pieces that go on the rear wings silver, they are supposed to be body coloured. It’s definitely a shell that requires patience to achieve results!
It’s a great looking car & I’m interested to see this turned into a beat up version.
Rust on a GFK-Body? Really?
Why not, it’s not real?
Please don't do a rust effect in a car with a fiberglass body. It will look so rare.
OK, I’ll put all the rust on the underside
Patience is very difficult while painting the body, everyone makes their experience with that, it always takes too long somehow ...you know... I'm kind of a rusher myself🫠...
