Osage is a wood like no other... I cut a lot of it for bows, fence posts and firewood. It earns your respect the moment you cut into it with a chainsaw by refusing to fall to the ground. Once down, it will be turned into the best bow wood, posts that will stand proud for a century and firewood that will make you open your windows in January. I will admit, I am an osage junkie, but for good reason, the stuff is incredible... Your father was an incredible man, I lost my dad last winter, I'd do anything for just one more fishing trip with him.. Take care my friend.
@@stevedaughton7247 I gave what you said a lot of thought and the simple response is, we were truly blessed to have active fathers in our lives. Yes, sometimes circumstances create single mothers, but people who say we don't need a strong MALE figure in the picture are totally misguided and DANGEROUS.
@@UncleDanBand64 That gave me a pretty good laugh. I also thought of bows made out of mesquite. I NEVER saw any form of straight piece on a mesquite. That reminds me of a story about a Native warrior captured by the calvary. A soldier asked him what the best wood for bows was and he said osage. The soldier asked him why he answered honestly because now he knew what to use to make a bow, and the warrior just laughed.
Your dad was an amazing man with so much wisdom.
@@andyrunkel8296 We were both pretty fortunate. Had educators for parents.

To me it is amazing that anybody ever even tried it. A straight piece is a rumor at best.😂
