Awesome test! This actually makes me love my 1000d codura bags more. I know this is way outside the normal use cases, but it confirms my suspicions about the VX21 bag. Great for keeping the bag weight down, but be careful with it on the ground or brushing against stuff, if you want your expensive bag to stay pretty. I have only bought VX21 for slings and pouches, and I have one backpack that is VX42, so I kinda wondered why Goruck haven't tried the thicker material.
Thanks so much for doing this comparison. It's extreme, but still can give insight into which material is more durable. GoRuck should be paying you even for videos like this. I would love to see what happens if you did this durability test with the heritage one day.
Really interesting to see, thank you for doing this for us and the GoRuck community 😅 gotta say I am pleased how the 210D turned out was expecting it to be way worse. This is something I can live with for the benefit of comfort on my back. Glad I got the GR1 26L with the new 210D as my first Ruck a few weeks ago. And also big thanks to you and your channel which was an amazing ressource for deciding on which one to get and great entertainment!! Cheers from Germany!
Yes I don’t think this “proves” anything but I think it’s reasonable to infer that the 210d back will hold up to anything that a human will put it through even with aggressive use. Fun video, just to see what would happen!
Interesting that the VX21 fared so much worse than the 210D considering it also has 210D face fabric (probably identical?) I guess the X ply really accelerates the abrasion. Awesome test!
I would assume it has to do with the thickness. Example: a solid piece of pine would still be pine all the way through. Pine veneer on whatever substrate would come out to the veneer getting destroyed but all you could see is the substrate. Just my take on it. 😊
Was hoping to see how the heritage holds up comparatively! I was considering buying one. As someone who has handled most of the goruck fabrics, would you say it’s less durable than the 500D? I have a bullet that’s 500D and that’s probably around where i’d draw the line on the durability i’m looking for.
Yes I would too. Hoping to be able to do a similar test. Overall strength is superior but not confident Dyneema would do very well against the gravel road. We shall see.
great video. i wanna see dyneema but i know i won't buy dyneema anyway but i am curious. i have both a vx42 xpac and an 1860D ballistic nylon bag tho. i now know which one i can drag a mile through open road and which one that can't.
do you think vx42 will fare better in this scenario? i'm quite rough with my bags and planned to upgrade my current bag to xpac (ACDP in Coyote or OD Green)
Great idea, this should be a recurring review of bags in different torture scenarios. Let me know if you need a new VX21 GR1 with tags to replace your dearly departed.
Well I’m certainly open to doing this again. But getting the bags I’m willing to destroy will always be the problem. I also have an another VX21 on the wall ready to jump in…but thanks!!
I don’t watch all your videos but this one is golden. I wish you had this video before I purchased my x-pac GR2. Scars has already approved the repair I am about to send it in. I’ve never done anything rough with it other than carry some heavy stuff with it for work, manufacturing industry. VX21 is not a tough enough fabric. I wish Goruck sold the QAP on their standard cordura bags.
So, if I´m getting this right the 500d did best?! The 1000d was the yellow rucksack, and a good part of it´s backside was rubbed open, while the black 500d rucksack stayed mostly intact.
Possibly! Never say never but the problem with the first video was getting the test articles. I’m working with Scars for another round of some interesting items to do another test.
#REPORTED to the Bag Protection Agency!!! Travesty! Torture! Bag Lives Matter! Great destructive testing, eagerly anticipated and appreciated. Fabulous photography too.
How does this guy not have 100s of thousands of subscribers yet? Quality content!
Seriously 😜 tell your friends! 😎

Totally agree! I like VX42 or better personally
Haha great video. When I saw the Samurai in the trunk I thought "ohhh, god no please!"
I know, right? But wouldn’t that be fun?
The only reason for me to play the video was to see how dyneema and other fancy samurais hold on...
Awesome. Thanks! Just bought a 21L GR1 Dyneema and 14L Bullet in prep for international trip. You’re helpful. Thanks!
Cool! That should work great

I agree, but I don’t think I could bring myself to do it!
@@JBOutside1you can do it!😂 The people wanna see it
great video! looks like the 1000D did well with nothing major like holes with the others?
Yes, exactly
Thank you! I’ve always wondered how they stack up against each other.
Happy to help! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! Yes, that 210D did surprisingly well!
Awesome test! Thanks for sharing this with us - curious to know how the Ripstop Robic would have faired.
Yes, that’s a great question. Plan to do that test at some point
Interesting that the VX21 fared so much worse than the 210D considering it also has 210D face fabric (probably identical?) I guess the X ply really accelerates the abrasion. Awesome test!
That’s a great question and I don’t have a good answer. They both had the same weight plate inside. 🤷🏼♂️

Tough to say really. I need to drag one to see and I just can’t bring myself to do it! 😬
1000D All day. Test well done.
Thank you! 👊🏻
My heart dropped when I saw the results of the VX21. I now have both the GR1 and GR2 in Navy XPac. Ouch.
Yeah, I really can’t look at them the same anymore!
The video we all needed - thanks JB, your videos are awesome and you definitely deserve WAY more subscribers
I appreciate that! Tell your friends!
Rad video. Cool to see how each material holds up to worst-case scenario type of abuse.
😎👊🏻
Awesome vid. The zippers on the VX21 goruck are horrendous, hopefully your VX goruck zippers are loosening up mine haven’t.
Not really.
I wish to know if Dyneema is more durable than the 1000D or not
Yes I would too. Hoping to be able to do a similar test. Overall strength is superior but not confident Dyneema would do very well against the gravel road. We shall see.
Yes! Drag the dyneema vs 1000D!

1000d for life
Boom!
do you think vx42 will fare better in this scenario? i'm quite rough with my bags and planned to upgrade my current bag to xpac (ACDP in Coyote or OD Green)
Better compared to VX21, absolutely
Great idea, this should be a recurring review of bags in different torture scenarios.

Thank you! I LIKE this even before watching it! Totally worth it. Thank you so much for this informative video. Awesome
Glad you liked it! 👊🏻
Oh snap, you actually did it. 😮
Oh yes I did! 😜
Please test Ultra 400X, Dyneema VS Cordura 500d please. Thank you
We will try!
I'd still use that 1000D with the 210 back panel after the test. If fact, if you want to get rid of it let me know.
It’s still totally functional. The internal part was already unrepairable. This one came from the Scars bin.
@@JBOutside1 That SCARS bin is kind of a hidden treasure trove. Alot of frankenstein with.
What are your thoughts on Tactical Tailor, LBT, Or USGI 500d assault packs? I have one and thinking of using it with a goruck sand Jerry Can.
Good ones! But I haven’t handled any of those.
@@JBOutside1 How much weight do you think a 500d mil-spec pack could confidently carry? I was thinking of doing the Goruck Jerry Can at 30-45lbs
Been waiting for something like this! Awesome!
Glad you liked it! 👊🏻
Can you do dyneema guerilla? really want to see if dyneema really is superior.
Working on it! No promises though

Wonderfully fun video, thanks for this!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 👊🏻
If i fill it full of rocks and use it as an anchor, will scars cover it
Sadly, no 😁

No...the back panel on that one was made of 210D so THAT is what shredded on that tan/coyote design
@@JBOutside1 Oh, Ok, thanks! The rest of the coyote/tan backpack was made of 1000d then? Looks like 1000d withstood the test quite well.
@@JBOutside1 On a sidenote: I wish there were smock-style, tactical jackets made from 1000d cordura, with lots of pockets.
@@pixelpusher1393 Yes. 1000D everywhere else
Sad that they decided to use 210 for the back panels :(
I like it, personally
Nice! So glad you saved the nicer bags!!!
Me too!! 👊🏻
Honestly was worried to see the samurai at the back of the truck. Nahhh this cant be for real 😅😂
@@HarimaKenji22 Exactly!!!!
I hate myself for liking this as much as I do
😜👊🏻
I was so hoping to see the Samurai dragged!!! 😂
I think Taylor would ban me 😬 (even though he’s watch it 😜)
Bros answering all our questions lol❤
😁
awesome video!
Thanks!🙏🏻
I feel bad for those bags. I wonder if the test would’ve been different with weight in them? Probably be even more shredded.
10 lbs in each bag to make it even
Haha this is awesome…..Jerry rigs everything of bags lol
Nice! 👊🏻
I guess I’ll worry about my VX-21 bag if I get strapped to the back of a truck, otherwise I love it !
Nice!! Yes, these are obviously extreme conditions. Lightweight and look great!!
Thank you for doing the test!!! Any possibility about doing 1000D vs. heritage and wax canvas tests?
Possibly! Never say never but the problem with the first video was getting the test articles. I’m working with Scars for another round of some interesting items to do another test.
So the VX 21 isn’t as durable 😂
Haha, science proves!

Thanks but it's hard to watch for a bag lover HAHA
True that! 🫣
A moment of silence for our fallen VX21 comrade.
😔
For me 500D is the go
Nice
Anyone want to buy my Kaidan GR2 v2 ? 😅
Haha! Tough to watch I know!
I know that it was for science, but it made me a little sad.
The good news is the two of the bags were decommissioned by SCARS
Need to subscribe to this channel ❤️
You should! It's free! 😜
I wonder if SCARS will consider this normal wear haha
Sadly, they were briefed on the whole thing beforehand so no dice there.
Moment of silence for these bad boys
Indeed! 🫡
💯🤟
👊🏻
The content I really need. Technically that's how I use my backpack... Best vid review of backpack since I started preppen
Thanks! 👊🏻
Dyneema would have been destroyed. Dragged*
From what I’ve been able to find its abrasion resistance is not that great so I agree.
