- I had a boot rip on my 1500 4wd. I pulled the cv axle and replaced the boot.

Lol sometimes it’s a struggle
It’s a good idea to clean out and repack the ball bearings, since a torn boot could’ve let dirt / grit in. Yours looked barely torn, but otherwise it’s wise to do it while it’s all out.
Good advise, yea I noticed mine after it threw a little grease behind the wheel. So I wanted to change it asap to prevent anything else l.
You can remove the strut by just taking the sway bar links off and not messing with the control arms its much easier.
I have a 2023 Silverado with a busted boot, will this fit my truck as well?

you didn't even have to remove the strut. All you had to do was disconnect the CV axle from the flange on the differential and then loosen the axle nut through the hub and bang it right out. You just made a whole bunch of unnecessary work for yourself.
Do you have to take the strut out or was it needing a replacement too?
No you can just take the cv out without removing the strut.

How long could an average fella not knowing a bunch expect to take , also is it necessary to remove brake lines?
It could take about an hour or 2 if you’re not familiar with doing stuff like this. And no you should just have to take the wheel, axle nut, and axle bolts off.

I’m not sure. I haven’t looked up the spec on the 2500s.
If I tried that with 1mm too big socket I would’ve rounded it and been in a world of hurt.
Sometimes I’m lucky, sometimes I’m not…. I’ve broken quite a few things with wrong tools lol
I put a rag over mine and hammered it on to make it tighter, did the same thing for my cowokers chev at the company shop cause they didn't even have a 35mm socket
the bigger the socket and nut the less it matter if its exact
