Lyrics
For Richard Swift
For John and Bill
For every gift lifted far before its will
Judee and Smith
For Berman too
I’ve met the myth hanging heavy over you
I loved you long
You rose to go
Beneath you, songs, perfect angels in the snow
So time to stage
Forget reserve
The type of great coronation you deserve
I’m going out for a weekend
I’m gonna borrow a Martin or Gibson
With Either/Or and The Hex for my Bookends
Carrying every text that you’ve given
I’m gonna swim for a week in
Warm American Water with dear friends
Swimming high on a lea in an eden
Running all of the leads you’ve been leaving
I’m overmatched (For Arthur Russell)
I’m half as wise (Duncan and Curtis)
If this is flat, brother I apologize (Jimi and David / For Nick and Otis)
No one alone (For Bell and Buckley)
Can leave the cave (Marvin and Adam)
And all you’ve loaned won’t be kept inside a grave (For Arthur Russell / For Arthur Russell)
I’m gonna swim for a week in
Warm American Water with dear friends
Just intending that I would delight them
Swimming high on a lea in an eden
So I dream
So I dream
I’m gonna swim for a week in
Warm American Water with dear friends
Swimming high on a lea in an eden
Running all of the leads you’ve been leaving
And in your rarified air I feel sunblind
I’m looking up at you there high in my mind
Only way that I made it for a long time
But I’m loud and alive, singing you all night
Warm American Water

Okay when that final chorus hits with the rarefied air line...
I know it’s so damn hype!
Yup
Gives me the shivers
@@jaguarhotrod1852 💚
Yeah you’re totally right and the “American Water” with reverb is so complimentary
This album is totally one of the highlights of this year. everytime I go out on my bike I put this album loudly on my speaker (best therapy ever) thanks for that!
Amen!
@Maddie 99 thanks! you should go out and try to bike a little if you can :)
@@nugrohoamar8038 yeah right?!
I’ve been listening to this record everyday for days, probably my favorite FF record yet... but I think that with every new release.❤️🚴🏻♂️
@@jaguarhotrod1852 yes I've been listening to it quite a lot but not too often so I can appreciate it always like the first time. I really like all what FF has done so far.
This album blew my mind! And it came with the right tone, and message at the right time.
Every Fleet Foxes video created by Sean Pecknold is an absolute delight but, since the very beginning, nothing has brought me more joy than a live, behind-the-music style video such as this 😊 . Beautiful visuals for an incredible album. Bravo, and well done Sean! Bravo, and thank you Robin 🙏🏻

Idk ;) The one for Shrine/Argument has traumatised me for ever. I watch it once and was almost sick afterwards. Never made it past the first 15 seconds since. He’s a bad bad man.
I love this song. Also, Robin's smile is so warm and genuine, he looks like a happy cat.

I am 60 years old and I was listening to alternative rock when it was called new wave . I still love so many of these younger artists . "Sunblind " , moves me . It is nice to know that indie and Alt rock is still in good hands with musicians like "Fleet Foxes " .
Wading in high waist water always makes me want to tear up and is just the most amazing intro to a beautiful album.
The transition to sun blind is just one of the most beautiful transitions I’ve ever listened to. 🤍
Four years today ❤
"And in your rarified air I feel sunblind, I'm looking up at you there high in my mind, only way that I made for a long time, but I'm loud and alive singing you all night"...May your sweet soul rest in peace, Mom ❤️
I love love Fleet Foxes ✌🏽🇬🇧🤎.
Thank you thank you thank you.
From Facebook - "Happy to share a video today for Sunblind that was filmed by Sean Pecknold during the recording process in upstate NY, Paris and Los Angeles and also features footage captured by Kersti Jan Werdal. I wanted to make a song that celebrated my heroes in an explicit way - people who have passed and who I want to honor in the music. That was a big focus of mine, helping them stay alive through these memories. Music is this weird invisible form of immortality for these people, and I wanted to do it in a joyous way and reframe some of the sorrow of loss into a kind of celebration. Big thank you as well to Beatriz Artola as always. 🙏"
I keep hearing Americans say that this is an amazing fall album. Where I am in the world it came out during spring and was so fitting and appropriate for that season and it’s still sounds amazing as I move into summer. And I can’t imagine this not sounding amazing with a nice cup of soup with a blanket on a winters day. I think this is an album for all seasons!

One of his best songs ever
I'm new to Fleet Foxes and thought it was a group, but it's a solo artist?
@@HypnoticHollywoodthey are a group, “he” refers to the main singer and songwriter, Robin Pecknold, he writes like every song of theirs
I thought, "Hey it's been a while since I listened to fleet foxes, I wonder what they're up to." Then I find this posted six minutes ago.

This song is so warm and carefree, it just makes me really happy. Once the pandemic is over, I wanna go on a long road trip and play this song on repeat
I also gotta be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of this album at first. Most FF albums are growers for me, but this one was taking especially long. It only started getting cold here in California within the last two weeks, and I decided to give Shore another chance. And now, I found myself completely immersed. I think my summer self just wasn't ready for this album yet, it really encapsulates Fall and Winter for me.

Why can't you go now?
Music to live by ..
In 2021, post covid-19 gather your friends, family, neighbors and sing this song. Remember those gone, still here and the lives to come...thank you ff.

Robin, if you're seeing this, WATCH OVER THE GARDEN WALL BEFORE FALL ENDS! Thank you.
Funny, I just recommended this to someone a few hours ago. She said she loved it.
That's a rock fact!
@@allach_mclanlin ain't that just the way
Shore is an exceptional album... it feels like Pecknold's Pet Sounds. A career high and a unique piece of musical Art.
I was just thinking before I read your comment that Robin Pecknold is like the modern day Brian Wilson.
I'm just crying. Lots of love from Brazil, guys.
this song is a warm blanket
I remember years back how Robin dropped out of life because of the struggles of dealing with fame. Its an absolute joy to see him centred and making an album like this even during such a difficult time. I dont know if the child in this is your daughter, if it is it would explain a lot. Happy for you , and thankful for what you have given us.
I believe she’s his niece. I agree it’s good to see him in a happy place. :)

This is a summer album.
To me it's a late summer band
And spring and summer
I think I speak for everyone when I say WE NEED A FLEET FOXES STUDIO FILM. please.
I wasn't sure how I felt about such a huge mood shift when this came out - the album (+ especially Sunblind) is overwhelmingly positive and I think I was holding out for the melancholic broodiness I adored from Crack-Up. But recently, I'm so thankful to say, that has completely lifted. This album fucking rocks. And the positivity turns out to be EXACTLY what I needed. It's Robin's familiar gorgeous sound making me so immensely happy. How could I have ever doubted him?
Feelings are mutual. I was not ready for how uplifting this album would be even though I knew it would be the best medicine for this year. It definitely aided in some mental recovery~
I was very slow on this album, thought it was boring at first. Really simple songs that somehow grow on you and become sometehing greater over time.
Hands down best song/ album of the last decade !!!
Technically, we are only 11 months into the current decade but I get what you mean
@@johnberesford9906 lol I meant like the last ten years
ahhhhhhhhhh! it's so good to see skye!
Best song on the album
This is a jewel in the midst of a staggering achievement...
I'm so fond of this song. It's a delight.
Eu sou do Brasil e amo essa banda, cada música é uma sensação diferente. Que genuino
I have listened to your music in Canada, Barbados and now London. The venue has changed over the years but the song remains the same. Thank you.
Anyone else have this gem of a record on repeat?
Robin is the biggest man crush on planet earth
He is a handsome, handsome man
What about Julian though
when he sings "Jessie" in TMPS....whoooweee my fave
Amen to that brother
Along Chaz Bear and Alan Palomo. 😍
Best album of 2020 hands down
We love you so much, but don’t want to overwhelm or smother you. Thank you for everything, we can’t wait for anything more you do but will. If you never made a single thing again. You’ve made enough to last several lifetimes of beauty.

Mine too. An extraordinary song with beautiful lyrics.
Is it Skye i see there?
I'm in love with this
So, so lovely. Calm & joyous. What the world needs
For Berman too.
Love that song ✨✨❤️❤️
This whole album is an instant love for me.
Loving this. Shore is such a great album.
Merci pour votre musique, elle est merveilleuse.
Such an honest and fun homage to the inspirations Robin draws on. What a lovely and yet heavy way to honor the greats that give us all more reason to keep going. Robin has long been an inspiration to me like the folks he talks about in this song are for him.
Y'all can we give a shoutout to the genius Chris Bear for drumming on this record? I had no idea!
I think Daniel Rossen plays also in one of the songs.
@@StratoHari2 Daniel is on "Cradling Mother, Cradling Woman"
This album has been such an aphrodisiac for me over these past several weeks. Driving on brilliant fall afternoons to this hopeful, optimistic, and beautifully nuanced music gives me a clear spiritual lift. Knowing that it comes from such a giving heart as Robin's and his fellow musicians has inspired me to look ahead to the promise of a new day that awaits all of us.

My favorite track from Shore. What a beautiful song and visuals to take you away to another place.
My kind of vaccine :-) A beautiful tonic in these trying times...
"The Hex" by Richard Swift is a great record.
My song of the year
Those opening lines are so epic! The opening is epic! What a way for Robin to introduce himself on the album. It took me a good while to get past this track when I first listened to Shore. I kept hitting repeat and rewind. Definitely my favourite song on the album
I’m not lying, I listen to this album at least once during the day.

Love the vibe of this whole record, it's probably the only good thing that I'll gladly remember of 2020
Gorgeous! One of the albums of the year!
These harmonies just really work on me. Thank you so much.
One my favorite tracks on this album. I actually love the whole album. Sunblind makes me miss all my friends back home. Thanks for this song & video....
SHORE SAVED 2020. Hands down. Love this behind the scenes style video filled with such beautiful smiles - a perfect fit for such a beautiful song ☮️💟
Thank you Robin for such glorious music , love FF.
I Love Fleet Foxes
Amazing stuff. Robin’s voice and songwriting is the medicine the world needs right now.
LIKE GOLDPLAY......
So beautiful
Just ordered a Fleet Foxes sweater today, and this was a nice way to end the night. Cheers Robin! Glad I got to see you at live at least once. 🙂
Musicaa muito linda, parabéns 🇧🇷❤
What’s better this or can I believe you? Might be a tie for me
I'd say Can I Believe You is a little bit better just by the music and choruses, but Sunblind has deeper lyrics and has more meaning to Pecknold than all of the tracks in Shore iirc.
If you make me choose, I'd go with Sunblind, but Can I Believe You is a gorgeous masterpiece.
Dante Taylor well said
This.
Oh thats such a tough one
Exactly what I’m thinking when I’m trying to rank each tracks from Shore. Lol
The Shore makes me feel nostalgia for being outdoors. Especially now, in 2020...
A long time from now, this song is gonna remind me of the time I sold everything I owned, and moved half across the country in my car. This album got me most of the way there, this song particularly.
"I'm looking up at you there high in my mind,
Only way that I've made it for a long time,
But I'm loud and alive singing you all night"
That line is perfect
as a brit I have never been to America but to swim for a week in American waters with dear friends .... would be really nice....
This is such a gorgeous video. Every shot is so perfect, I adore it.
such a beautiful celebration of life while simultaneously acknowledging all of its loss
This video and song it's just like coming home from a rainy day and see your mother waiting for you with hot chocolate and cookies
Y’all see that baby TEARING UP that xylophone?
Mexican in love with Fleet Foxes, this music gets me chilled and take me back to Seattle Washington (band is native from there), and your music gets me in that place, the pine smell, and all those little cafes spread around town and staring at the ocean; thanks Fleet Foxes to keep on doing all this great magic with your music, I hope to see you soon in Seattle 😎✌️
I don´t know particularly why, but I am so moved by the vocal at 3:46 , it's so laid back, but endearing at same time... anyone else catch that? (maybe the whole song is like that, the mixing on this record is beautiful)
The best song of 2020. One of the few tracks that made me actually tear up this year.

Love the shots of him on his guitar in his groove.

Robin working with Aaron Dessner at his place brings us one step closer to a Justin Vernon, Robin Pecknold collab
Robin smiling 3:43 saved my year
ok but maestranza video WHEN
He has a nice warm smile! His eyes squint up like a happy cat😸
Apparently the name Fleet Foxes is just a pseudonym for Robin Pecknold now.
My favourite song on the album ❤️
This video simply brings me pure joy
Now upload a version with Great Gig in the Sky playing afterwards
Of course this is nothing like REO Speedwagon's "I can't fight this feeling anymore" at all.
Fleet Foxes just brings a pureness in music you don’t hear anymore in music today. Thank you for this. Truly.
This song makes me feel like living
Wonder if Tillman listens to this? This whole album is sick. Just makes me wonder if he puts it on occasionally.
Oh! You came to Paris to record this song! I hope you had a good time in my city :) I sure have a nice time listening to your songs!!
4:33 an then it plays The Great Gig From The Sky
Fleet Foxes is the curent imbodimant of 1960s folk music and continues to carry the torch. They are pure talent and a rare breed of musicians who have yet to make a bad album. Shore is as great as anything they've ever done. Musical mastery at its finest.
