These are all OUTDATED teaching practices and it’s time to throw them into the trash. 🗑️
The science of reading research shows us over 30 years of effective, reading research of how the brain actually learns how to read.
Based on this research, it has been proven that children learn how to read by having explicit literacy lessons taught to them.
This includes spelling patterns, letter sounds, and even how to decode unknown words.
So long are the days were children use the pictures to determine unknown words instead give children the rules and support they need to know how to truly tackle the unknown word in front of them.
