Had my first flight in one of these in 1954 going to a small forest fire. It was a yellow painted Beaver of the Ontario Lands and Forest near Gogama, ON. Had many more flights in the summer of 1955 on a forest fire at Horwood Lake. Met Freddie James there who was a De Havilland test pilot and flew a bit with him. Then met him again in Churchill, Manitoba and the summer of 1965 when he flew me into the barren lands west of Eskimo Point. Flew me back out in Sep. I just love the sound and feel of this aircraft. For several years they were the work horse during our moose hunt at my dad's tourist camp. Loaded and flew lots of moos meat in them. Always felt safe. Probably the best bush plane aver made for floats or skis.
+James Wade That's really interesting, sounds like you've had a lot of great experiences with the Beaver over the years. Definitely an aircraft I'd love to fly in some day.
Lovely video - brings back many memories, put in many hours in Johnny May´s beaver in Arctic Quebec. Both Johnny and his beaver named ¨Pengo Pele were legends in their own time back in the 1970s. Juniper
Flown in and out of Kamuchawie Lake in Northern Saskatchewan & Manitoba a half dozen or so times in a Beaver. First time in the lake 70’s when I was 16 with my dad. I miss him.
I usually see the Otters taking off from this spot when my father and I are there close to noon. Rare for me to see a Beaver active at that time of day. Have to find the schedules.
It's always fun to see all the action going on down there, a great place for a bit of seaplane spotting. I'm not sure what time the Beaver's are usually flying.
***** Thanks Steve, I always love seeing the seaplane action at the Harbour Airport in Vancouver. Always lots of interesting stuff going on down there, with Otters, Beavers, and Twin Otters everywhere! (I also saw a seal :-))
This is what I like about your channel. You so rarely find these kinds of videos at Vancouver, so when you do see them for me they are very cool and special
Thanks so much, I appreciate the kind comment! I always love checking out the seaplane airport every time I go to Vancouver. Always lots of interesting stuff flying around down there.
Love the round engine sound! Bush flying in the beav or B-18s in Canada. I'm hooked. Thanks so much for the effort putting the vids together. Best from Sconnieland USA!
What a nice looking ' water-plane'! Very beautiful footage, mate! :) Always enjoy seeing those plane. Oooh, and congratulations with 5K subscribers! :)
Prototype flew 1947 (the year I was born) and they still haven't found a proper replacement for them. The more things change the more they stay the same. That's got to be some old footage as I think everyone is more used to their blue and yellow colours now. That scheme is reminiscent of Baxter Air.
Is it normal to push it by the elevator? I would have though that it's fine to push the horizontal stabilizer, but the control surface? Anyway, always nice to see a Beaver. On float, doubly so. Thanks.
PilotZCoyfox I always wondered what kind of maintenance that is needed to keep these seaplanes going that operate in salt water. Must be pretty corrosive landing and taking off with salty spray all day.
Your kind of a bone head eh! The original wasp junior radial had 450 hp and the turbo beaver had 600 u p. So no not under powered but over powered with a huge wing. Just because a pilot doesn't take with high climb rate doesn't mean its under powered . He's taking off from one of the busiest seaports in the word with many air freight and amphibious air service companies so along of traffic. Best aircraft ever built.
Nothing beats a Beaver for rugged reliable travel. It’s like the Harley of float planes.

Round sounds! How perfect! I really miss the voice of the R-1820's on our Dear old Trackers.

This seaplane's engines sounds are really agreeable...

At idle, it has the sound of a Harley Davidson

I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I have one other Beaver video that will be coming up in the next month or so.

Отличные кадры! Берегите эти харизматичные машины, у нас живых Ан-2 в гидровариантах не осталось.

Awesome stuff. I loved it
Flightbudy2channel Thanks for watching!
In my dreams I own a P-51D Mustang and a De Havilland Beaver. What beautiful machines!
Those would be two very nice aircraft to own, a dream hangar!
Epic video!
I like the sound!
EDDH Hamburg Thanks a lot!

Igor Barros Thanks!
What the fee. To fly
It sounds like a big block Chevy :)
Love the sound of these old radials!
If ever I have an extra million bucks I will have one of these baby's!
That would be a lot of fun, the old Beaver is a great aircraft!
Great stuff :)
Thanks!
Pratt & Whitney Wasp Junior
And the best starter motor sound in my opinion, the wine always makes me fill with glee.

Anyway, always nice to see a Beaver. On float, doubly so. Thanks.
That's a good question. I'm not really sure what the procedure is for the push-back with these. Thanks for watching.
Is this water salt or fresh?
+PilotZCoyfox This is salt water.
+TheHDAviation Ahh cool thanks :) Must mean all these Beavers are protected against the corrosion. Interesting :D

Who are the three Pree Ass (Prius) owners who could not find the proper "thumbs" button?
nice beaver!
Ya, this one is a beauty. Great to see these classics still working hard!
He didn't catch the joke, But I did ! Lol
fly wayne ;)
Nothing saids, CANADA better than the Maple Leaf and Driscoll and.
🐓😡🤒🍯⛈
look at that pitiful climb. Thing seemed to have barely enough power to fly.
