Badlands Dispersed Camping? (Our Best Campsite!)

  • Boondocking, Dispersed Camping, Dry Camping whatever you want to call it, we finally did it just outside of Badlands National Park just South of Wall, SD!
    We wanted to stay here on our way out West but didn't want to just have to sleep then leave the next day, so we decided to camp here for awhile on our way back East from Idaho.
    The Nexus Wraith Super C RV did a great job on the bumpy dirt road leading up to the ridge where everyone is free to pick their spot, on a first come first served basis. There is no fee, but please pickup after yourselves. (People who had the site we choose before us, did not do that, unfortunately.)
    The views were amazing and it was the most peaceful time! We took the dogs on plenty of walks and just watched the beautiful landscape across the horizon.
    After awhile we decided to pack up and head off to another spot. Mike was thinking of going to Missouri to the Lake of the Ozarks sate park, but the weather there doesn't look favorable so we haven't decided if we want to still do that.
    Just another reason why we travel without reservations! We are free to decided where we want to go and change our minds at any time!

    Until next time, See ya!

    I can’t wait for the day that I can get a dog again! I miss having them so much. I’m still working full time and I’m gone for 5-8 hours a day and that’s not fair to a dog. But as soon as I can, I’ll have one. Till then, I’m living vicariously through Piper and Guy. They’re my favorites out of all the RV’ers I watch. Thank you for featuring them so prominently in your video!!

      Just get one. 5 to 8 hours is nothing. A lot of people work full-time jobs, including me and have dogs. You sleep 8 hours a night right? What do you think your dog does when you sleep? Adopt a dog and save it's life!

    Out of curiosity when you first turned on the dirt road I saw a small bridge. Would that have been able to support a large diesel pusher bus conversion? Also if the bridge could, would a bus conversion be able to drive where you were without getting stuck?

    • @johnnylightning1491
      @johnnylightning1491 3 года назад

      That little bridge is a cattle guard to keep the cattle on the inside without a gate. They have them all over out west. They load the cattle on the inside of the cattle guard since they won't cross it. As to whether or not they will take a DP depends on the rating of the cattle guard, they come in different ratings but I'm thinking most will.

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  3 года назад

      It's a cattle guard and they're even on the interstate exits and entrances to keep cattle from going that way. We saw every size motorhome and trailer get up there when we were there, but it is advised not to go if it has been raining
