    It all looks so simple! The technique of tapping with the brush however many times is necessary is something I have seen you do before but I'd completely forgotten about it. I really must try harder!

      Thanks Peter, with the Brush tool Adobe set that so it does not go on 100% right away, this is done to help smooth out brush strokes when you are using it like a paint brush. But when using it as a stamp it takes a few clicks to build up full strength, the number of clicks depends on the brush but I have found that 5 usually gives 100% coverage. I tend to use only 3 clicks when using brush stamps like the Snowflake as that just looks about right to me but when using on a layer mask I always go for 5. It is the same concept as when you are actually painting, like painting a room for instance, you go over the same stroke a couple of times to get full coverage.

    George. Just tried the color change of eyes on my wife's photo. I gave her blue and green eyes. It worked really well and fairly easy. I made some silly errors but referred back to your video and saw my mistake. FYI to others this technique works even if your subject is wearing glasses. Thanks

      You're welcome Al, You can also have a bit more control over the quality of the color by adjusting the Opacity of the colored eye layer, allowing some of the background brown eyes to show through. For a more natural look set the opacity to around 80% or so, the eyes will be a bit darker but this will take off the edge of the colorizing. Good tip on the glasses.

    George, thank you once more for a great example of some real fundamentals on PSE. In its simplicity, you cover such a large area of real estate in learning this program.
    Thank you sir!

      George,
      Does your PSE course teach in chronological order -- from straight out of the camera, to head-to-toe editing, to background changes to finished project?
      Thanks!

      @HTGGeorge  4 года назад +1

      @@dianeprewitt6339 Hi Diane, Photoshop Elements doesn't work that way. It does a lot more than just edit photos. But I changed the format for my newest training for 2021 and it is much more project based than previous versions of the training and the projects do go from start to finish. Consider my training like a college course. Once you finish the training you will be able to do a project from start to finish with no trouble.

      @@HTGGeorge Thank you! I currently have PSE 15, but am hoping to upgrade to 2021 over the holidays. I feel like I'm doing some to most things out of order -- replacing backgrounds before learning how to smooth skin, or enhance contrast/lighting, or even create layers. Because of my novice, I feel like I'm jumping in the deep end missing all the start-to-finish tasks that are important to the finished photograph. Does that make sense?

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  4 года назад +1

      @@dianeprewitt6339 Makes perfect sense, but don't worry about it too much. Most things can be done in almost any order. Each job will consist of a few sub-jobs and those sub-jobs can be done in any order you like. I try to do projects in a sequence that makes sense to me, but other sequences will often work out just as well. As a general rule I try to do the big steps first and the detail stuff later.

    Didn't realize that you could change the hardness of your brush. That was a wonderful eye opener! (pardon the pun) Thank you

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  7 лет назад

      You're welcome Brian, most people ignore the brush settings and just use the default set of brushes. Unlimited possibilities once you move to other brushes and begin playing with the brush settings.

    Thank you so much. I was just wondering....do you do any teaching using PS? I'm trying to adapt my PS to your elements. Love your style of teaching.

      Hi Dela, I have a lot of Adobe Photoshop videos here on RUclips and of course I sell complete Photoshop training on Amazon. Just click on the Videos link in my channel and scroll down to find the different PS videos. This eye color change video can be done exactly the same way in Photoshop but I did a different version for Photoshop about a year ago, here is the link: ruclips.net/video/GVla3kKTzh4/видео.html The main difference is that I use a different tool in PS for the color change which gives you more options, but that tool is not available in PSE. I also use selections to mask out the eyes instead of just using a brush, a little more complex. Both techniques will get the job done.

      Hi Dela, forgot to mention that I will be doing more PS videos this year. I have been focusing on PSE since I just like the program but I will try to not neglect PS as much.

    What exactly are you tapping when you get the white eyes in the layer?

    • @HTGGeorge
      @HTGGeorge  6 лет назад +2

      Hi Amanda, what I am doing at that point in the video is painting a white circle onto the black layer mask. When I say tap 5 times I could re-state that as click the mouse button 5 times. Basically you are tapping the picture 5 times with the paint brush. The reason for the 5 clicks is that the paintbrush is not painting a solid white, so you need to do it 5 times to get a solid white.

    George - All of a sudden I am unable to access the PSE15 tutorials. I have entered my email address but am getting a message that there is no user with that email address or even the user name I set up. This would explain why I was getting directed to the Buy PSE training page on How To Gurus. I would be grateful if you can look into this. Many thanks.

      Hi Peter, double check the log in page address, it should be georgepeirson.com/pse15/wp-login.php. Actually it will work as either http or https. I checked the user list and you are there. It is also possible that there was a temporary internet glitch with the user database but it all seems to be working fine for me right now. If you have any more problems email me directly and we can fix it.
