I just ordered a 32T Drive for all my R3D & Blackmagic RAW files to live on. Its not the most sexy thing to spend your money on but so important. Especially when shooting for clients.

Yeah I have a nas storage that I use to store all files that aren’t completed I plan on expanding that storage as well so so I can sleep well at night
Aw sound! Yeah I think im going to purchase one of these and have as my main one and then use other drives to mirror this. I shoot A7Siii 4K 50 files do you think I would be able to edit some work from this drive? @@FlashForwardmg
Honestly, it’s speed isn’t the greatest, it takes a moment to like access the files each time you want to do something on your time line, I think where this drive will perform best is for pure storage. So like back up to this and edit on a ssd drive
Great review! Did you use the blackmagic disk speed app to test the actual speeds this drive is getting? It's advertised at 550 "transfer speeds" but doesn't specify if both the read and write speeds are that fast. Would really appreciate if you can test it and let us know. THANK YOU. subcribed.

Do you have it in RAID 0? If you did it might seem a lot faster. Of course then you'd only have 20TB but that's how I use my GRaid.
You’re talking RAID 1 which is mirrored, redundancy if one drive fails so half the space RAID 0 is striped so it’s all the space, increased speed with no redundancy.
How quiet are these drives? Do you think they’d also be good for plex?
They aren’t super loud, but they are very audible. And what do you mean by Plex?
@@FlashForwardmg good drives to store movies, shows and any video you edit or capture. Plex is a server for your own personal media. I’d assume these drives would work quite well for that.
Would you consider them too audible for on-set/near-set operations? My referral are owc arrays, they can be crazy loud@@FlashForwardmg

hey it's not a ssd drive for my G-drive. Nowadays I'm using those SSD drives from sandisk to edit and the G-drive and Glyph as just storage.

Yes, it’s much faster and convenient
How well does it handle 4k video?
From my experience, it handles it fairly well... I wouldn't say it's perfect by any means, but if you are ok with short delays each time you start or stop the play head, it works just fine.
This is designed for stills or backup not 4K video. You want 4K video look at a G-Speed shuttle or an SSD solution.
