Nothing happens when you move the kick pitch knob?

It affects the pitch of the resonating part of the kick, not the "slap". Listen as he turns up resonance more, then adjusts the pitch, you will hear the pitch change.

You can build this DIY and the schematics are all in the back of the build guide. That's about as close to open source as it gets ;-).
