Snell is quickly becoming a legend man. 2 Cy Youngs, and although this year didn’t start off great for him, he quickly turning it around and showing us the ace that he is.

i blame the slow start on his agent, letting him go deep in the pre season with no signing

I was at this game and it was frustrating as a Reds fan to see it happen to your team in the first time I've been to a game in over 10years. It took seeing Snell getting mobbed on the pitchers mound to remember that I'm a baseball fan overall and what I just got the privilege to witness in person was pretty special. Congrats Snell. What a Giant.
Takes me back to that playoff game against the Phillies where the Reds were no-hit by Roy H. Feeling of frustration but if you love the game you got to appreciate it either way.

Yes Reds fans, remember the playoff series where the Reds flew to San Francisco and won two straight then just needed to come home and win one more game with three tries. They lost ALL three. Including a critical error by now Hall or Famer Scott Rolen in Game 3. Grandpa Rolen, the one who got all those rest days during the season from Dusty. By the time Rolen made it to Cincinnati he was old and over-the-hill. Yes, great memories. Like many of you were not alive back in 1990 when the Reds won their last World Series or, and I would need to check, last postseason series I believe. Sooner or later, or annually now it seems, you have to admit that the Reds just are not good enough. They may see postseason again with the current format. Perhaps get shut down and shutout like they did vs. Atlanta. Not only did they get no-hit by Halladay but they got swept there also by the Phillies. Lot's of great memories since the start of the century. Ken Griffey Jr. trade, still paying him deferred money, the Reds never saw postseason with Jr. In fact, since he was hurt so much they never saw him either. When the Reds were decent and needed something they always had/still have an excuse to go cheap. Trying to swing a bargain player. Guys like Joey Votto deserved better. Jay Bruce, Mike Leake, not household names or superstars and players that do turn into an asset this organization ships them out for prospects. Most prospects do not pan out. But, they are cheap enough. De La Cruz will soon be unaffordable though. Luis Castillo is Seattle's ace. Reds hopes are on guys like Ty France, Mike Ford, Slater(?), along with others they soon will not be able to afford. Some guy that gets an 80 game suspension, Marte. The Reds love to say they have injuries because it is an automatic built in excuse. Yes it isn't easy being a Reds fan. Ticket prices do not come down if they are not performing either. Just another day (game) off the schedule. Oh, Snell is nor that good, he just faced a team of hitters who are NOT GOOD. A team of guys who can only hit mistakes by opposing pitchers. Wait until Snell's next start.

Good for Blake. Good for the catcher for going out and settling down Blake after those two missed strikes by the umpire. Good for Melvin for keeping Blake in the game. Good for the Reds fans for acknowledging Blake's performance. Good thing this didn't happen when Blake was a Padre.

It's funny that Snell's manager Bob Melvin was also his manager the last two seasons in San Diego. So Bob is very familiar with what Snell is capable of. I really love Blake. He played for the Friars for three years, and although his first two seasons weren't the greatest (each year he started out real slow, and then came on like gangbusters in the last half of the season), last year was pretty special, obviously, as he won the NL Cy Young Award.
As talented as Blake is, I think he finally figured himself out. And I figured out what he figured out. And that is that he is just a different kind of pitcher. He won't throw pitches that can be hit. Period. Because of that, he gives up a lot of walks. But walks don't drive in runs (unless the bases are loaded), hits do. So even if he has a bad inning and issues a couple of walks, it doesn't matter as he'll get his three outs and then boom, the inning is over. No runs. To have a WHIP below 1.20 when you walk a lot of guys, is insane. But it's because he doesn't give up many hits. That is his formula, and it seems to work really well for him.
Anyway, big congratulations to Blake on the no-hitter.

Agreed. It's been a pretty frustrating season overall but moments like these make it still worth following. Who knows, they might be able to make a run with this.

Coming from a Reds fan, this was a pitching clinic. Not a single player was comfortable in the box. Also, if Frisco can get into the playoffs, especially in a short series, this is the kind of guy that helps you win championships. Wow a complete game no hitter for Snell. I'm very glad Bob Melvin let him pitch the 9th inning. I saw a no hitter at Candlestick Park on Sept. 17, 1968. That night Gaylord Perry beat Bob Gibson and the Cardinals 1-0. Gibson allowed just 4 hits and one of those was a HR off the foul pole in left field by 2B Ron Hunt.
Now THIS is a REAL No-Hitter - not like those other "it's a no-hitter by definition, even though 120 pitchers threw one pitch each" ones. Love to see it.
