एक राग में जो सुरों का उतार चढ़ाव है वह हर बंदिश में एक जैसा ही होता है और सुरो का चलन भी एक जैसा ही होता है इसलिए कोई धुन भी एक जैसी बन जाये तो कोई आश्चर्य की बात नहीं है। बल्कि एक राग में बने गीत एक जैसे ही लगते हैं।

मदन मोहन की धुने खुद भी लाजवाब होती थीं, फिर उन्हें सजजाद साहब की धुने चुराने की जरुरत न थी। लेकिन जवाब देकर खुलेआम अपनी चोरी तो कबूल कर ली। यह था पुराने कलाकारों का बड़प्पन जो गलती को कबूलने में शरम नही महसूस करते जिस के कारण दिल साफ रहते थे। वरन् कोई भी धुन क्या किसी की जागीर होती है?

कई बार हमारे मन में कोई tune ऐसी बैठ जाती है कि हमें पता नहीं चलता कि किसी गाने को पहले भी ऐसी tune में गाया जा चुका है और सुनने वाले यह समझते हैं कि यह नकल है। दूसरी ओर यह नकल भी हो सकती है जो जानबूझ कर की हो। बाकी फिल्मों में संगीत की नकल कोई नयी बात नहीं है। बहुत सारे संगीतकार विदेशी फिल्मों के संगीत की नकल करते रहे हैं। तब इतना पता भी नहीं चलता था। पर अबका ज़माना और है। अबतो एंटरनेट का ज़माना है। जल्दी ही नकल का पता चल जाता है।
Madan Mohan is my mothers most favorite music director and both share same date of birth JUNE 25. My dad also considers him second favorite after OP Nayyar, while I worship only Shankar-Jaikishan and Ilayaraja. . On neutral stance Madan Mohan has borrowed/copied/plagiarized/sampled/stole many olden era music given in B and C grade movies which even O. P. Nayyar also did. . I remember Madan Mohan used Kaifi Azmi sahebs sher "yeh maana meri jaan" And made it a song for the 1973 movie HANSTE ZAKHM. . That tune he borrowed from music director RAVI, who had composed in 1965 a song "Tumhi meri mandir, Tumhi meri pooja" for the film KHANDAAN and for the stupendous music Ravi had even got best music director FilmFare award in 1966. . There are many more anecdotes where Punjabi, Ladaki, Haryanvi, Rajasthani, etc lehja from the folk was adapted by MM in his music. . Nothing wrong or right in cinema world. Everything counts on how apt that song is for the movie in that situation. 😊😊😊
शास्त्रीय संगीतके रागपर आधारित गानेके सुर सिमीत होते है। ईसे कोई अपनी जागीर नही समझ सकता। नौशादजीका "एक शहनशाहने बनवाके हसिन ताजमहल" की धून हूबहू एक पुराने मराठी गीत "ते माझे घर, ते माझे घर" जैसी है। उस मराठी संगीरकारने कभी उसका जिक्र नही किया।
और जरा सुन हसीन ए नाजनी मेरा दिल तुझी पे निसार है (1960 रवि ) कौन अपना कौन पराया को भी सुनिये जो सज्जाद के गीत की सबसे अच्छी नकल है। और इस धुन पर आधारित और भी कई गीत है

But, for info Madanji himself told Sajjad sahab that he liked the tune very much and used it. Sajjad sahabgot angreebut Madanji pacified him, this is an open sscret. As for as copying, it is not only L. P. & N. S. but seniors like C. Ramchandra, S. D. Burman, Shankar Jaikisan, R. D. Burman, Kalyaji Snsndji, Ravi, O. P. Nayyar etc etc too have lifted music of other, mainly foriegn songs.

So far I know, Sajjad Hussain was an able and knowledgeable music director, but a bit erratic and uncompromising. He thought himself no less than anyone. V. Baksara was a great admirer of him.

He was a versatile musician, starting from piano to flute to accordian to harmonium to so many. He invented an instrument named Unibox. He initially worked in Hindi films at Bombay. You'll find him scoring music in ''Sangdil'. He did play the accordian in 'Aye mere dil kahin aur chaal'(Daag). However, he later settled in Calcutta and died at the age of 84.

सुर तो सात ही होते हैं और किसी एक राग की छाया कभी-कभी किसी दूसरे राग पर भी पड जाती है वैसे दोनों गीतों के गाने के अंदाज़-ए-बयां अलग अलग हैं....

As for as copying, it is not only L. P. & N. S. but seniors like C. Ramchandra, S. D. Burman, Shankar Jaikisan, R. D. Burman, Kalyaji Snsndji, Ravi, O. P. Nayyar etc etc too have lifted music of other, mainly foriegn songs.

So far I know, Sajjad Hussain was an able and knowledgeable music director, but a bit erratic and uncompromising. He thought himself no less than anyone. V. Baksara was a great admirer of him.

He was a versatile musician, starting from piano to flute to accordian to harmonium to so many. He invented an instrument named Unibox. He initially worked in Hindi films at Bombay. You'll find him scoring music in ''Sangdil'. He did play the accordian in 'Aye mere dil kahin aur chaal'(Daag). However, he later settled in Calcutta and died at the age of 84.
