For someone who was 10 at the time, she really had a great notion of which colors blend well, how space works, and the techniques. I could probably never do something as good as her.
Love the design! I am an artist and I have a tip for you when you need a simple scrapper tool that will hold up better and make crisper edges than cardboard ... go to your local hardware store and buy a roll of aluminum flashing. You can cut it with scissors (old scissors!) to whatever shape you need. I know aluminum reacts with soap, but since it won't be used for very long, it may be okay. If not, cut out the design then spray it with a clear coat of polyurethane (Krylon brand works well); wait for it to dry (an hour is more than sufficient) and then use it. That way, the soap will not be coming into direct contact with the metal. As a substitute--if you have it--stencil plastic or something similar cut from old bleach bottles--will also work quite well.
@@katelillo1932 Yes, any similar plastic that is stiff enough to handle the pressure of pulling through thick soap batter will work. The nice thing about plastic is that soap doesn't stick to it so it's easy to clean AND you can reuse it!

I do that too. I'm allergic to fragrance (as well as some other things that are common in handmade soap and just soap in general) so I tend to go for unscented or maybe lightly scented things. I love the way handmade soap looks but I can't use it.

MORE 👏 FAN 👏 DESIGNS 👏😤 I love these videos so much- watching you interpret the designs and bring them to life is so fun, and the community interaction is always so supportive and kind! I’m sure it makes the day of whoever’s design you pick too, the good vibes we all need 💛
You friggin nailed it!!! I’m ok with a gorgeous soap that doesn’t smell so sweet, as long as it’s pretty. I do have a favorite soap that turns itself brown (I’m lookin at you vanillin!) but I love it even as a brown soap. 🥰 I usually do half unscented and swirl the two with no care for colorants. 😇
Scent is most important to me, I just happen to be lucky in that fruit smells are my favorite so most soap designs with those scents look bright and fun too.
I can't wait to see more fan designs!!! Question of the day: In a perfect world we would have both lol however, i love ALL the fruity smells and don't care what it looks like lol 💜
Scents are important but a great looking bar of soap visually is a plus. So both for me would be equally important. But what about the benefits to skin, how do you incorporate that along with everything else in your soap making?
This was such a good design Amina! Tons of fun to watch and thank you for sticking to the design specifications! I see tons of potential for fabulous collaboration.
i just wanted to say how much i appreciate your use of “they” as a pronoun. i assume you don’t know the identity of the fan who submitted the design and i just think that was really thoughtful. ❤️
Katie: “I’m going to use this tiny spatula.” *it’s a small Popsicle stick* 😂😂 Edit: there has to be a brown design you can have a vanilla scent to! 🥰 even if it’s just like ombré stripes with like coffee grounds or something simple like that!
I can't handle a lot of "good smells" that people like. Almost all floral smells give me instant headaches. Whereas a lot of fruit and spices are fine. Like, from you I've gotten the great Gatsby soap and the champagne smell was fine, and the red sun rises soap is delicious and wonderful, but I've gotten a bunch of the sample soaps and almost all of them are headache inducing. So I don't pick up new bars very often, and when I do I carefully pick them by what kinds of smells and how strong, but I'm not gonna settle for a soap I don't like the look of, y'know? If I'm gonna get a nice thing for myself I'm gonna be picky.
I'm the same way with the floral scents and hardly any spices. I can do some fruits, mainly citrus. I'm waiting for her to do a lemon scented soap so that I could purchase that.
Floral scents tend to hurt my head too. Except lavender (is that floral?). The scents most easy going on my head are dessert scents and other other food scents.
@@TheSlipperyNUwUdle I feel like lavender they usually use the actual plant for the smell, whereas a lot of other florals are chemical recreation, maybe that's the difference, because most lavender is fine for me too (though it's not a smell I prefer)
My #1 is the way the soap smells. But a bit of layering or swirl is nice. I sometimes don’t even want to use the really pretty soap. Because it’s more like art and I don’t wanna ruin it
Having had a hard year mentally losing multiple family members I love your energy and positivity to bring a much needed smile to my face and a lightness of spirit. ❤️
Awesome soap design, Amina! I hope you continue to create fun soap art! As for Katie's question of the day: I appreciate the single food scents over any scent blends. I don't like the musky/amber/cinnabar type scents. They make everything smell like bug spray. I prefer the artisan soaps with single food scents like vanilla, orange, cranberry, blueberry etc. I have only been able to buy three bars so far because most have some masculine scent in the blend that I have a strong smell aversion to. Thank you for asking us this question. I believe you can sell more soap if you do simple in pot swirls, artisan tops and food scents. Thank you for your consideration! 😊
Love this idea and visual. It’s such a fun design. Having a sweet scent will appeal to a lot of people. So creative. Love that you are encouraging a potential future soap maker.
Answering your question: I get migraines with certain smells, so while I love the pretty soaps I'm stuck window shopping those, and practical *very* lightly sented or non-sented soaps are what is safe. Thank you for letting me see them more upclose than I can ever get in person!
First, AMAZING DESIGN Amina! Love the shark design soooooo much! Second- if I'm buying this kind of soap, I'm buying for aesthetics over scent. So to me, its more important it's pretty.
For the question of the day, it depend on it use. If its for display or gift, design was more important. But if its just for personal use , smell was better. If its smell nice, a little discoloring was worth it.
This design is so cute! You should do a Christmas tree soap with white glitter for snow top.. a coconut mint smell! I have a perfume that has that combination and I love it!

Jaws is one of all my all time fav films and I am loving this soap! So great to see you using some different techniques for the top too. Loving it.
I love the design. Sharks are such an important part of the ocean ecosystem. Thank you for bringing awareness to them!
Smell is more important. I get overwhelmed by scents easily. I love the colors and designs, but the scents have to be right or it's overwhelming.
I really like that you followed directions! Suggesters often have a vision in mind and too much ‘artist’s creative liberty’ could disappoint. Thank you!
Wow katie it came out just like the design! love seeing your go from design to end product and all your troubleshooting,.
MORE 👏 FAN 👏 DESIGNS 👏😤
I love these videos so much- watching you interpret the designs and bring them to life is so fun, and the community interaction is always so supportive and kind! I’m sure it makes the day of whoever’s design you pick too, the good vibes we all need 💛
Shark diver here, I would buy all of this soap! Never see much hand made shark inspired bath products.
Katie, you're incredible! Making a 11 yo kid design and teaching us that no matter the age, kids and adults can be good creating designs to soaps!
Question of the day:
In a perfect world we would have both lol however, i love ALL the fruity smells and don't care what it looks like lol 💜
Scents are important but a great looking bar of soap visually is a plus. So both for me would be equally important. But what about the benefits to skin, how do you incorporate that along with everything else in your soap making?
OMGOSH here i am in bed feeling like crap and this pops up 🥰 Best timing . You always put a smile to my face ❤️
Hope you feel better soon!
The artistic value is more important to me than the smell because I can’t afford to buy a bar of soap from Australia but I love watching you make them
ME: "OK, now the glitter....where is the glitter?? Oh. That makes sense..." Fun design, excellent job!
I also really appreciated this!! 😊
Noticed this too. 💜
I’m impressed by this kids design skills and understanding of soap!! This soap is really cute
That turned out cute :)
I love that you made another fan design :) I miss you making fan designs :)
🥰🥰🥰
That's so cute! Exactly like the design. The swirls look like paua shells 💙
I love these! I hope you do them more! I sent in a design during the beginning of Covid, and love seeing others designs!!
Amina's design was fabulous!! I definitely don't mind sacrificing smell for more colors and designs.
Katie: “I’m going to use this tiny spatula.”
*it’s a small Popsicle stick* 😂😂
Edit: there has to be a brown design you can have a vanilla scent to! 🥰 even if it’s just like ombré stripes with like coffee grounds or something simple like that!
That swirl!!!!!!!! Is everything!!!!!!!!!!! Im obsessed with it
the ten year old: *screams in ten year old*
😂😂😂
As a sinus sufferer I prefer scent to anything. I have had expensive soaps/shampoos/lotions that I have had to give away due to the scent.
@@TheSlipperyNUwUdle I feel like lavender they usually use the actual plant for the smell, whereas a lot of other florals are chemical recreation, maybe that's the difference, because most lavender is fine for me too (though it's not a smell I prefer)
this is my first video of yours. i love the respect you showed this young person while making their design. i will be watching more for sure.
I prefer my soaps to smell good as opposed to looking good in that sometimes, some colorants actually irritate my skin.
🥰🥰🥰
My #1 is the way the soap smells. But a bit of layering or swirl is nice. I sometimes don’t even want to use the really pretty soap. Because it’s more like art and I don’t wanna ruin it
Having had a hard year mentally losing multiple family members I love your energy and positivity to bring a much needed smile to my face and a lightness of spirit. ❤️
OMG!!!!! The Scent definitely needs to be there !!!!! that's number 1# I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!!
Awesome soap design, Amina! I hope you continue to create fun soap art!
As for Katie's question of the day:
I appreciate the single food scents over any scent blends.
That in the pot swirl is amazing! That color combo is definitely the perfect ocean combo- so much movement & life.
Love this idea and visual. It’s such a fun design. Having a sweet scent will appeal to a lot of people. So creative. Love that you are encouraging a potential future soap maker.
Answering your question:
I get migraines with certain smells, so while I love the pretty soaps I'm stuck window shopping those, and practical *very* lightly sented or non-sented soaps are what is safe.
Scent is very important to me when it comes to soap! Pretty is a bonus!
This design is so cute! You should do a Christmas tree soap with white glitter for snow top.. a coconut mint smell! I have a perfume that has that combination and I love it!
