I struggle with public speaking too but the public speaking professor told us, the audience wants you to succeed. I know when I am listening to a speaker struggle, I am wishing success for them. This was decades ago, but for some reason, it has stuck in my mind and still helps me.
Hi Gemma. Yes, Saturn and Neptune both going retrograde so close together is quite the deal! I agree with you that it’s a lot about karma because Neptune was at 29° 54 minutes of Pisces when it stationed direct and then went retrograde. Almost at the end of the entire astrological cycle, which is a very karmic point and of course Saturn rules karma. I also agree with you that it’s about looking back and assessing what you’ve done, how you feel about what you’ve done, and how you’d like to feel going and what you’d like to do forward. As you said, it’s an internal energy because of Neptune, but I also feel it’s about external reality because of Saturn. And Since they’re both in Pisces, I feel like it has a lot to do with how we’ve expressed ourselves in relationships with others, including ourselves, and how we give and receive love. Saturn can be a hard taskmaster, but he gives us the opportunity to take a look at reality and ask ourselves what we would like to do differently. I also feel that since Saturn rules time, and Neptune is basically timeless, being the ocean, that the quality of time feels very odd right now. It’s almost as if we’re in all time, and no time at the same time, if that makes any sense. What is most “solid”, i.e., corporeal, can feel empty right now, and what is not “solid”, like the imagination or lost loved ones or whatever, can feel very present. It’s a good time to manifest anything creative, but I’m not sure it’s a great time to take large material steps forward, at least not for a while. It’s really throwing me for a loop! Good for you for conquering your fear and agreeing to do some public speaking. I used to be terrified of that as well until I became a teacher and discovered I enjoy it as long as I know what I’m talking about. The first time I went to a public poetry reading I was so terrified I had to tranquilize myself (I almost fell off the podium, not because I was tranquilized, but because I was gripping it so tightly, that when I went to turn a page, I almost fell over). A trick I discovered that helped me was to think of my most outgoing, positive friend (or role model), and I pretended I was that person. I also had a folder in front of me, and I wrote on the inside of it, “don’t be afraid - Cherie wouldn’t be.” It seemed to help. Good luck and let us know what happens! Just be yourself and you’ll charm everyone. 😊💕

I just finished writing a book on public speaking, called SPEAKEASY. You have an incredible knack of making everybody feel special, and as if you were speaking to them individually over the camera. Your own secret is that you make everybody feel so special. It’s the exact same thing in front of an audience put the spotlight on the audience and take it off yourself and give generously like you always do and you will be brilliant
I’m probably too late with this but my husband, who was a musician, always said that the audience just wants to relax and have a good time so if you’re relaxed and having a good time, they won’t care if you make hundreds of mistakes. When I taught baking classes I would think “there are people here who can bake rings round me what have I got to tell them that they don’t already know”? But then I realized they really just want to have fun even the ones who think they don’t want to have fun, so my job is to provide a space where they can experience fun. It doesn’t need to be perfect, it just has to be honest and full of your love - and you are astounding at that form of communication, Gemma! I hope you enjoy yourself, if you do, the rest will follow, I promise!❤
I’m totally comfortable with public speaking, but it took a long time to get there. I had to perform a lot in front of others in my youth when I played piano, and I believe the sheer repetition of being in front of a lot of audiences eventually gave me confidence. So first recommendation is to find more reasons to speak to audiences. The more you do it, the more comfortable you’ll become. Second, when you speak to an audience, don’t speak to a lot of people. Direct your speech to One Person. It can be a specific person who looks friendly to you, a friend in the audience, or a person you imagine whom you really want to get your message. Place that person in the center of the audience and speak directly at him or her, occasionally turning your head from side to side as if to include others. That’s all I’ve got.
I taught dance and English Lit for about a hundred years, but public speaking is a whole different kettle of fish and I would near panic when public speaking until I found a secret way to fool myself ----I just pretended that they were students and for some reason it worked for me. When you know what you're talking about just talk like you're teaching and I found people listen and appreciate it. And each time I spoke I became better at being comfortable in front of large crowds and looking them right in their eyes. It's amazing how you can just be yourself and people will enjoy themselves. Cuz anyway you're the best and make me laugh everyday and teach me stuff so just put your mouth on auto pilot and go girl

About public speaking ;
taken from Liz Gilbert in an interview, she talked about this, saying she thought (to herself beforehand) 'these people didn't come for your fear, they came to be inspired- so give them that - ' I heavily paraphrase and i guess it depends on the speaking itself, but in other words it seemed to mean to come at it from a state of service (or gift giving), rather than the default performance anxiety state that you experience in that moment - and that helped her with stage fright. If that helps - best of luck !!🎉

I just finished writing a book on public speaking that will be out in the fall called SPEAKEASY. .you have an incredible knack of making everybody feel special and it is if you are talking to all of us individually. Lots of people don’t like to speak in public, so the audience could put themselves in your position.
It often goes automatically (a little practice at home helps). And if nerves get to you, just say so. People understand and you lose your nerves.

Nice reading with great energy, Gemma - thank you! Good luck with your public speaking, too. One technique is to imagine you are welcoming everyone to your living room for a nice chat. I think it helps to practice what you’re going to say a bit, too. Plus wear clothes that you love and make you feel comfortable,, confident, and at your best. Stand up straight and be sure to speak up. You will be terrific … maybe this will lead to new paths for you! I think it relates with today’s reading - coming to the edge, fire energy (confidence), and the peaceful, inspiring message you will radiate to others.❤

I would love to hear you speak publicly! I took a class at University on public speaking and our assignment was to speak for 15 minutes on a subject of our choice. I chose an event from my life that was significant and had a very easy time,even though I was nervous. It was a huge breakthrough and now public speaking comes easy as long as I’ve prepared and feel at home with my subject. I consider it sharing my thoughts and feelings with others and I don’t focus on the outcome, just that I have shown up is enough. ❤

I just finished at the called speakeasy unfortunately won’t be out By the time you have to do your public speaking. But it’s exactly the same as talking into the camera the intimacy, how you have this incredible way of making us feel like we are each special and making it about the audience rather than the audience looking at you. I’ll keep you posted about my book. You’ll do fantastic.

Thanks Gemma! I feel like Saturn is kind of the opposite of that root chakra energy. I mean, it is the structure of things, but it’s also associated with old age, poverty, and death, and if you’re always saying no to things, it’s kind of anti life. I’ve got Saturn conjunct my sun sign and sometimes it feels like I was born old and tired. It’s fair to say that I have root chakra issues, lol. On a lighter note, I saw a very amusing cartoon by the Australian cartoonist Leunig: a man is sitting at a desk in front of a wall plastered with post it notes. Two women are standing behind him and one is saying to the other “My Bert’s making his bucket list: a list of all the things he never ever wants to do again before he dies”. It’s a Saturn joke if there ever was one, and I think about on a regular basis and indulge in a grim chuckle 🤭😈

Mercury in Leo seems great for public speaking! Though, it’s kind of funny that Leo is your 6th house which, in ancient astrology, was the place of slavery and servitude (I have most of my planets in the 6th, lol). But it makes sense because it’s an act of service that you’re doing for someone else. I feel for you because I tend to get tunnel vision and completely shut down when I have to perform… but maybe you’ll just happen to say something that somebody really needs to hear… I’d pretend that we’ve all managed to come out to hear you and that it’s just like a live for the gemstars 💖 However it goes, I’m quite proud/inspired. I’ve been only doing what I’m comfortable with for some time now and ended up really walking myself in.

Public speaking is more about the audience than the speaker. I believe you will be able to perceive their level of interest and understanding of the subject. Just be yourself, perhaps include a story or some humor, if appropriate. You’ve got this. Lorry driver Gemma can be waiting in the car park to drive you home to tea, chocolate, and a nap.😂
