  • Tom Schreiber is widely considered the most complete lacrosse player on the planet. Being born into the sport, Tom has shouldered the challenge of winning since a child. He’s done almost everything… his next goal? Winning a PLL Championship with Archers LC and his long time coach from Princeton to the pros, Chris Bates. We traveled to Long Island, NY to help tell his story.

This is a really awesome series. Do you also plan to involve some D guys or Goalies?

I Played with Doug Schreiber at Nassau CC in 1970, when Nassau won it' 1st JUCO title. Doug was a great player at Maryland. I coached at St. Anthony' HS in Huntington NY, I had the freshman team called JVB. I wrote an article for Lacrosse Magaine in April, 1993 called "Go to the Wall, That's one of the best places to build the skills you'll need for the college game." It was big sensation, with Jack Moran, Richie Moran' nephew and a great coach @ Chaminade for many years, posting it on the locker room walls, St. Anthony' great rival. I wrote the article as I was disappointed in the overall stick skills around Long Island, sure LI had great players, but the overall play needed to improve. I started against the wall in 1961 as an eleven year-old kid, by watching Jimmy Lewis, arguably the greatest attacker ever, play against the wall, for Uniondale HS and then the Naval Academy. People tell me I was a great player with a great stick. I'll credit the Wall for my improvements as a teenager, and I became the featured shooter on Nassau' power play. I played with a hickory lacrosse stick, I played with both hands. You will too. I'll mail you a copy if you'd like. The Schreiber family rules to this day, Doug coaches at St. Anthony' and his son is the best player on the planet. Lacrosse Royalty. These days I take my grandson to the Wall at Prospect Park.

Love a lot of the ideas coming from the PLL, super unique and really helping to grow the game. But they could really improve the production on some of these videos. Tripod!
