Fanboys are equal in all regards, people who say differently usually ARE the fanboys. The reason you notice those trends on videos is because the PS4 (and even the Wii U) have done a better job appealing to people, and thus people have less hateful opinions of them.

Most of the Amazon reviews are real and are confirmed buyers. Ps4 does have a lot of issues, they will be ironed out over time. I can't stand how people expect brand new consumer electronics to be flawless. That mindset is unrealistic.
It's concerning that we're starting to accept flawed products, crashing games, day one patches, incomplete games etc. and consider it as a norm. Is it really unrealistic to expect any company to aim at making a flawless product right-away? Also, just out of curiosity - did you consider the Xbox 360 RRoD also as acceptable, normal and something we should expect at first?
Sir Cas Tick You have to remember that the company who designed the console (in this case Sony) isn't the same that is assembling it (in this case Foxconn). Sure Sony could have some QA there, but it having a third party assemble your hardware is a different story than building it in-house.
Sir Cas Tick They are making millions of the things. I will accept that a small % of a million are going to have problems. The % of electronics in general that fail will lessen as time goes on. This is different however than the xbox 360 that had flaws in design and or the manufacturing process; wrong soider as I recall was one problem. Bad, lazy, or unfinished code is unacceptable. Day 1 patches on the operating system is the future. They are continuing to work on things, but at some point that have to load the data on a HD and ship the product.

I actually got CoD Ghosts on the Wii U thanks to you Rich. It has run online a heck of a load better than the 360 CoDs online, and I have not noticed a frame rate drop at all. Looking forward to playing it on the PS4.
Xbox One is having more malfunctions than the Ps4 apparently. Ps4 is obviously better designed. Xbone is twice as big and still runs about the same temp. as Ps4. Microsoft's consoles are poorly engineered. Microsoft just slops them together just to make sure they can release the same time as Sony. Thats my take anyways.

The ONLY thing better about PC games is its freedom for mods like GTA games but Console games could have just as much freedom if it wasn;t for companys being total censorship control freaks for their console titles,we would have it made..

People who's PS4s were broken and got an Xbone instead are so naive...Xbone hasn't even released yet, it may have problems too. Plus Sony released a fix for the blue light of death.
And if you're like me (waiting until January or February to get a PS4), another batch of PS4s will be out, and they'll probably have less hardware issues.
If Sony fans will start a petition to bring back DRM, then XBOX fans will go the the length of making a throw away account just to bash the PS4. I would love to see ANY hardware company produce over a million units of something and not have a few hundred go bad, it's just the way it goes. You have to expect a few bad apples when the whole bunch is sooo damn big.

I like how everyone thinks that the issues are over with the ps4 because Rich lucked out and got a functional unit. The thousands of people that got a broken console may disagree. Also like to mention the fact that Rich has been bleeting on about 1080p for the last few months and now he is fine with 900p. Even tho all the comparison vids have shown the xbox version of bf4 looks better.

Sony sold over a million units in 24 hours. There is always going to be defective products for any kind of electronic device. A few people have had issues (Lest than half a percent). I think that's a successful launch. If I got a defective product I would be upset sure, but the fact is it was still a great launch and overall a huge success. The graphics are a huge improvement over the previous gen consoles. It's not quite on par with my PC but for what it is i feel that it's acceptable. I did not buy BF4 for the PS4 because I own it on PC. 900P to 1080P on my PC with my gaming monitor isn't much of a huge difference. However, 720p to 1080p is a HUGE difference in fidelity. 720P is damn near unplayable on a modern PC display. There is no reason for any game to be 720P this generation. The developers need to make better games and utilize the hardware to the full potential. The X86 cpu is supposed to make this easier. The first gen games are all pretty much written for high end pc's then being scaled back. Once dev's start learning what bells and whistles to tweak we will probably see 1080p/60FPS become a norm.
I have absolutely zero issues with my xbox one. I find it crazy that people are having issues with the Xbox one. I did have to return my ps4 though, because it overheated and got the RLOD
Actually there is, it's when the temperature gets to high on your ps4, and it blinks red and shuts down to prevent any damage before overheating, however mine practically got it right out of the box for being on for only 5 minutes and it got really hot, so It shut down then I tried an hour later and same thing happened, I returned it and got a new one that works.
All you need is an Amazon account to leave a review, dosn't always mean you've purchased the product, Some reviews on items state they bought elsewhere, and posted on the site.
He never got rid of consoles, he always had a PS3, he sold his Wii because the honeymoon phase wore off and his Xbox's kept getting red rings. He says PC is better but that doesn't mean he can't enjoy the offerings of the PS4, Wii U, and XB1. Plus he said he would get them no matter what for the sake of RTU since it's gotten so big.
***** Depends on what the person likes. If you're like me and like FPS, RTS, Turn base, and indie then consoles are a bad choice. If you like 3rd person shooters, platforms, sport games, and racing then consoles are the better choice (although you can always plug in a controller to a PC)

I been paying CoD ghost on my ps4 and haven't seen any frame rate issue at all. My ps4 runs great, the UI is fast and it looks amazing. Now I'm pretty sure there are people with brick consoles out there and that they are super mad ( i be mad as well) but this happens with any new mass produce product. There will be DOA xbox as well, but that won't deny in any aspect that the xbox one will be great console with a slick UI and great games. That most game will run at 720p is fact for now. Maybe in the future MS or developer get some sort of optimization done and games will be able to run at 1080p we can only hope but it could happen. Fanboy's and Xbox drone will always be present with there crazy conspiracies or telling you why the other side sucks. Now if you can only afford one console, the better console clearly will be the one your friend are in. That's my advice.

there is bound to be problems with both consoles during releases so its to be expected. The gamestop near me got 200 PS4's and only had 2 returns, the best buy had no returns and Toys R us near me had no returns
Rich, you have no idea how GLAD I am to hear this. I was all set to ignore Sony again, this generation, if they had such big and painful hardware issues as it sounded like they had, but now I can return to my plans to pick up the console around the time KHIII is about to come out.
Anyone who might be interested in buying a PlayStation 4, please wait until next year! By then, the console is going to have a better library of games, and there will be price drops. Plus, all the bugs will be ironed out, and all your doubts will be completely cleared. I know i'm waiting until sometime next year to get one.

i'm waiting for an action-adventure game, and a good RPG game to tie me over. I'm also waiting for a game with lots of color to show off the PS4 graphical power. Knack LOOKS good, but it's just a mediocre beat-em' up game.I know the REALLY good games will not be there for a few years, but I hope that good games will come out for the system next year. The launch lineup was extremely weak, and Sony should have done a lot better with these games. Also, these developers need to stop making these dudebro shooters, and start making some non-shooter, colorful games. This gen already looks tired, and it hasn't even started yet. Expect to see more dark-brown, grim-dark,"Mature" military shooters with no soul, or personality this gen. Anyway, i'm waiting until mid next year at best to get a PS4.

How do you know if gamefly will even port PS3 games to the PS4? Even Battlefeild 4, and CoD Ghosts will grow tiresome in a few weeks. I want a beautiful cel-shaded game on the PS4.

Aliasing is still prevalent in ths game footage, especially at long distances and along hard edges like fences and such, but that seems simply attributed to the chosen resolution of BF4. Thank you Rich for breaking down your experience so far with your PS4, it absolutely does look spectacular and I hope not only that you don't run into any issues, but also that I will be able to join you in the near future in owneing one! I knew this would be a leap in graphics. The thing people seemed to keep forgetting was that these new consoles will be running with double the framerate making the graphics look much much better.
(DISCLAIMER: I'm an Xbox user) Seems to me when systems had legit problems (ie. Xbox 360) we heard about it. When they don't (Wii U...which I must state I DO NOT own) you don't hear about it. So now when Sony has issues it's us Xbox fans or it "happens to everyone". Convenient. Everyone just needs to agree they're biased and get over it. Sony offers a great experience to their fans and people love the PlayStation for their own reasons, and they're allowed to, but just say, "Yeah, it would have been nice if this was not as prevalent as it seems to be". No biggie. Xbox screwed up and I had the RROD but MS fessed up, fixed it and made it right and I never looked back. Now Sony gets the opportunity to prove the value of their customers so let's hope they make it right. That simple.
How about heating and fan noise? Many videos of them getting loud as hell. I'm sure that the overall quality issues will be fixed but all that power in such a small case will cause overheating and loud fan that's for sure.
How come Rich hasn't purchased an NBA title since Dreamcast if he really likes basketball? The 2K series had only a couple of hiccups (2K10 & 11) and is really the reason NBA Live was MIA for a couple of years because it was so much better and was outselling it by a ridiculous amount (2K/Visual Concepts completely EMBARASSED EA with 2K5, selling it brand new for only $20 compared to $50 for NBA Live '05 and was the FAR better game). Either way, I don't doubt you'll be impressed by 2K again.
Alex Cheesman I agree, hockey football and soccer are all overhead sports, but basketball doesn't really work overhead, so it becomes a side-scrolling game. I don't exactly mind it, but hockey and soccer were probably more favorable for me
I think there has been a bit of an overreaction with PS4 hardware problems, we're in an age where it's easier than ever for anyone to voice their problems. I mean, imagine if Twitter and Facebook were big back when the RROD fiasco was around, I don't think the Internet could have coped...
I love my ps4, I love the user interface when you turn it on MUCH MUCH more than Xbox's push this gam or movie on you nonstop crap. I HATE WINDOWS SETUP! yuck. I did buy the warranty but I have no issues and love it.

Just because someone doesn't like the Xbox One, doesn't mean they are hopping on the bandwagon. I haven't experienced any of the common problems on both systems. They have both worked perfectly. Plus, last year, I was on the X360 side. It was my console of preference last gen. I personally don't like the Xbox One because it is not as "gamer-based" as the PS4 is. I want a console so I can game on it, so the PS4 caught my attention. Sony emphasized and advertised gaming more than it ever will TV and Streaming, and stuff. That's why I enjoy the PS4. I mean, for fucks sake, the Xbox One reveal was all about TV. Watch it and try and count how many times they said TV onstage. I see the Xbox One as a cable box you can play games on. But I do also like Xbox for their service. A much more secure online service, and nice exclusives like Halo and Forza. But that's pretty much it.
I agree on Killzone,the dark ambience that was Killzone 1 and 2 and a little less Killzone 3 turned into Flower Power zone. Ironically the Shadow has fallen.. lol

Hi Rick. I agree with. In my opinion: PS4 is has been a sweet experience. Everything in very smooth. I love the new dash and the way the apps and options are organized. Games: so far, I only have KZ and Yes, it feels different to previous KZ games but, after a while It started to like me. The graphics are beautiful and this is just a launch title. I'm very very happy with this baby and i can say that it is worth the money I payed for. Have a nice day.

I'm happy that their are no hardware issues with the PS4 yet (hopefully never). I didn't think they would let another RROD happen again. Now it's just waiting to see how bad the xbone is going to be failure wise.

I most say I got my PS4 at midnight and I just love it I'm a big Battlefield guy and BF4 is just amazing it's just what I wanted thanks Sony on a great job.
Playstation plus is making my gaming experience hell of fun thanks to my friend giving me a free year subscription for Christmas and so many awesome games.
the blinking red light on the ps4 is NOT THE RED LIGHT OF DEATH.. it DOES NOT mean ur consle IS DEFECTIVE.. it only means that ure console is over heated and just needs to cool down for some time, so put down that controlller and shut down the ps4 for some time... and put it in a well ventilated spot
I have had some framerate jumps in COD Ghosts on PS4. It's not bad, not at all. Most of the time it is 60FPS, but I do notice some on PS4. It is better then the PS3 version for sure. I've been happy with PSN and what it can do. I have some nitpicks with the UI, I wish i could organize the UI my way (Set up games in certain spots, etc,) but that is all software that can easily be updated. I dont have any big issue that bugs me or affects my experience in a big way. Just some small stuff, that can easily be patched up.
Glad you're enjoying it, Rich. I know I am. I'm very impressed with what this thing can do, and that's only going by the launch titles. Personally, I loved Killzone, short of a few awkward and lackluster moments during the cinematics, and some AI issues here and there. I had never played a KZ title before, but this made me want to pick up the trilogy for my PS3 and give them a spin. BF4 is gorgeous, but unfortunately I got an error 4 missions in and lost my save data. After looking into it, I'll be putting that game aside until some much needed patching is done.
I agree. Sony did a mighty fine job with an initial launch. I had a little bit of an issue with the disk drive not accepting disks after updating through a USB stick but luckily the system detected the error and downloaded the update itself and everything is running silk smooth. Now time to see how the Xbox One does.
I've had a great time with mine. Resogun is amazing and so was BF 4. I can't wait for these other games to come out like Soma, The Order, Infamous, Deep Down, Oddworld etc.
For the people who have the console, but don't have any game to play for it, try out the free-to-plays within the Playstation Store. Black Light: Retribution and Warframe is suggested.
Even though I'm a hardcore PC Gamer guy I'm definitely getting a PS4 this X-mas so I can enjoy on the couch with my daughter. Easy plug 'n play with very nice 1080p 60fps games, most of the games that are. Controller in hand for easy quick pick up and play without tinkering around like I do on the PC. And I don't have a media pc etc. yet for the living room so this could be it.
Even if you do plan to get rid of Killzone Shadow Fall, don't trade it in! That's always a raw deal. Sell it online or something instead. You get real cash and more of it that way. :p

Fanboys are equal in all regards, people who say differently usually ARE the fanboys. The reason you notice those trends on videos is because the PS4 (and even the Wii U) have done a better job appealing to people, and thus people have less hateful opinions of them.

Most of the Amazon reviews are real and are confirmed buyers. Ps4 does have a lot of issues, they will be ironed out over time. I can't stand how people expect brand new consumer electronics to be flawless. That mindset is unrealistic.

You have to remember that the company who designed the console (in this case Sony) isn't the same that is assembling it (in this case Foxconn).
Sure Sony could have some QA there, but it having a third party assemble your hardware is a different story than building it in-house.

This is different however than the xbox 360 that had flaws in design and or the manufacturing process; wrong soider as I recall was one problem. Bad, lazy, or unfinished code is unacceptable. Day 1 patches on the operating system is the future. They are continuing to work on things, but at some point that have to load the data on a HD and ship the product.

Piece of plastic? No no no no no. Whilst I agree that trolls should stop hating on consoles but a console is not just a piece of plastic. It takes you on multiple adventures and gives mind boggling experiences. A console is an adventure, you can be the greatest football manager of all time or you could defeat the greek gods all from the comfort of home. It's much much more than a piece of plastic.

I actually got CoD Ghosts on the Wii U thanks to you Rich. It has run online a heck of a load better than the 360 CoDs online, and I have not noticed a frame rate drop at all. Looking forward to playing it on the PS4.
Ghost's frame rate is super smooth to me. My PS4 works just fine. I'm enjoying Killzone and AC 4. Peace gamers.
Xbox One is having more malfunctions than the Ps4 apparently. Ps4 is obviously better designed. Xbone is twice as big and still runs about the same temp. as Ps4. Microsoft's consoles are poorly engineered. Microsoft just slops them together just to make sure they can release the same time as Sony. Thats my take anyways.

People who's PS4s were broken and got an Xbone instead are so naive...Xbone hasn't even released yet, it may have problems too. Plus Sony released a fix for the blue light of death.
And if you're like me (waiting until January or February to get a PS4), another batch of PS4s will be out, and they'll probably have less hardware issues.
If Sony fans will start a petition to bring back DRM, then XBOX fans will go the the length of making a throw away account just to bash the PS4. I would love to see ANY hardware company produce over a million units of something and not have a few hundred go bad, it's just the way it goes. Sony sold over a million units in 24 hours. There is always going to be defective products for any kind of electronic device. A few people have had issues (Lest than half a percent). I think that's a successful launch. If I got a defective product I would be upset sure, but the fact is it was still a great launch and overall a huge success.
The graphics are a huge improvement over the previous gen consoles. It's not quite on par with my PC but for what it is i feel that it's acceptable. I did not buy BF4 for the PS4 because I own it on PC. 900P to 1080P on my PC with my gaming monitor isn't much of a huge difference. However, 720p to 1080p is a HUGE difference in fidelity. 720P is damn near unplayable on a modern PC display.
There is no reason for any game to be 720P this generation. The developers need to make better games and utilize the hardware to the full potential. The X86 cpu is supposed to make this easier. The first gen games are all pretty much written for high end pc's then being scaled back. Once dev's start learning what bells and whistles to tweak we will probably see 1080p/60FPS become a norm.
I have absolutely zero issues with my xbox one. I find it crazy that people are having issues with the Xbox one. I did have to return my ps4 though, because it overheated and got the RLOD

Actually there is, it's when the temperature gets to high on your ps4, and it blinks red and shuts down to prevent any damage before overheating, however mine practically got it right out of the box for being on for only 5 minutes and it got really hot, so It shut down then I tried an hour later and same thing happened, I returned it and got a new one that works.

***** Depends on what the person likes. If you're like me and like FPS, RTS, Turn base, and indie then consoles are a bad choice. If you like 3rd person shooters, platforms, sport games, and racing then consoles are the better choice (although you can always plug in a controller to a PC)

I been paying CoD ghost on my ps4 and haven't seen any frame rate issue at all. My ps4 runs great, the UI is fast and it looks amazing. Now I'm pretty sure there are people with brick consoles out there and that they are super mad ( i be mad as well) but this happens with any new mass produce product. There will be DOA xbox as well, but that won't deny in any aspect that the xbox one will be great console with a slick UI and great games. That most game will run at 720p is fact for now. Maybe in the future MS or developer get some sort of optimization done and games will be able to run at 1080p we can only hope but it could happen. Fanboy's and Xbox drone will always be present with there crazy conspiracies or telling you why the other side sucks. Now if you can only afford one console, the better console clearly will be the one your friend are in. That's my advice.

Anyone who might be interested in buying a PlayStation 4, please wait until next year! By then, the console is going to have a better library of games, and there will be price drops. Plus, all the bugs will be ironed out, and all your doubts will be completely cleared. I know i'm waiting until sometime next year to get one.

Aliasing is still prevalent in ths game footage, especially at long distances and along hard edges like fences and such, but that seems simply attributed to the chosen resolution of BF4.

(DISCLAIMER: I'm an Xbox user) Seems to me when systems had legit problems (ie. Xbox 360) we heard about it. When they don't (Wii U...which I must state I DO NOT own) you don't hear about it. So now when Sony has issues it's us Xbox fans or it "happens to everyone". Convenient. Everyone just needs to agree they're biased and get over it. Sony offers a great experience to their fans and people love the PlayStation for their own reasons, and they're allowed to, but just say, "Yeah, it would have been nice if this was not as prevalent as it seems to be". No biggie. Xbox screwed up and I had the RROD but MS fessed up, fixed it and made it right and I never looked back. Now Sony gets the opportunity to prove the value of their customers so let's hope they make it right. That simple.
How about heating and fan noise? Many videos of them getting loud as hell. I'm sure that the overall quality issues will be fixed but all that power in such a small case will cause overheating and loud fan that's for sure.
How come Rich hasn't purchased an NBA title since Dreamcast if he really likes basketball? The 2K series had only a couple of hiccups (2K10 & 11) and is really the reason NBA Live was MIA for a couple of years because it was so much better and was outselling it by a ridiculous amount (2K/Visual Concepts completely EMBARASSED EA with 2K5, selling it brand new for only $20 compared to $50 for NBA Live '05 and was the FAR better game).
Either way, I don't doubt you'll be impressed by 2K again.

Just because someone doesn't like the Xbox One, doesn't mean they are hopping on the bandwagon. I haven't experienced any of the common problems on both systems. They have both worked perfectly. Plus, last year, I was on the X360 side. It was my console of preference last gen. I personally don't like the Xbox One because it is not as "gamer-based" as the PS4 is. I want a console so I can game on it, so the PS4 caught my attention. Sony emphasized and advertised gaming more than it ever will TV and Streaming, and stuff. That's why I enjoy the PS4. I mean, for fucks sake, the Xbox One reveal was all about TV. Watch it and try and count how many times they said TV onstage. I see the Xbox One as a cable box you can play games on. But I do also like Xbox for their service. A much more secure online service, and nice exclusives like Halo and Forza. But that's pretty much it.

Hi Rick. I agree with. In my opinion: PS4 is has been a sweet experience. Everything in very smooth. I love the new dash and the way the apps and options are organized. Games: so far, I only have KZ and Yes, it feels different to previous KZ games but, after a while It started to like me. The graphics are beautiful and this is just a launch title. I'm very very happy with this baby and i can say that it is worth the money I payed for. Have a nice day.

Look if this bs is happening at launch, even to local people you know, I am sure that after the system is 6 to 7 years old, greater problems will come.
Im not hating, Xbox One isnt out yet, we havn't seen its issues, but the same goes for it.

I'm happy that their are no hardware issues with the PS4 yet (hopefully never). I didn't think they would let another RROD happen again. Now it's just waiting to see how bad the xbone is going to be failure wise.
Man the comments from fanboys are just pretty sad, this gen is already worse than the last and it's only just getting started.

Great review Rich. I trust your reviews over gamespot and revgames. I'm even more excited for my PS4 coming now and I think I kind of always knew Killzone would be a average game but I just want a very pretty game at launch. I will betrading it in after a few weeks.

Rich cod ghost on ps4 frame rate is garbage you are lying its the 1080p it can't handle it Sony is trying to push there system as the 1080p console I have played and seen it with my own eyes and it lags a lot so I don't know what you are playing it on but I can't be a ps4 please post a video of you playing it online

The PC version is the worst. No contest. Even with a Titan, there are freezing issues and the textures still look like crap.

My PS4 had a couple freeze ups, but has been running great without issue. Got mine at Wal Mart.

I most say I got my PS4 at midnight and I just love it I'm a big Battlefield guy and BF4 is just amazing it's just what I wanted thanks Sony on a great job.

Playstation plus is making my gaming experience hell of fun thanks to my friend giving me a free year subscription for Christmas and so many awesome games.
the blinking red light on the ps4 is NOT THE RED LIGHT OF DEATH.. it DOES NOT mean ur consle IS DEFECTIVE.. it only means that ure console is over heated and just needs to cool down for some time, so put down that controlller and shut down the ps4 for some time... and put it in a well ventilated spot
I have had some framerate jumps in COD Ghosts on PS4. It's not bad, not at all. Most of the time it is 60FPS, but I do notice some on PS4. It is better then the PS3 version for sure. I've been happy with PSN and what it can do. I have some nitpicks with the UI, I wish i could organize the UI my way (Set up games in certain spots, etc,) but that is all software that can easily be updated. I dont have any big issue that bugs me or affects my experience in a big way. Just some small stuff, that can easily be patched up.
Glad you're enjoying it, Rich. I know I am. I'm very impressed with what this thing can do, and that's only going by the launch titles.
Personally, I loved Killzone, short of a few awkward and lackluster moments during the cinematics, and some AI issues here and there. I had never played a KZ title before, but this made me want to pick up the trilogy for my PS3 and give them a spin.
BF4 is gorgeous, but unfortunately I got an error 4 missions in and lost my save data. After looking into it, I'll be putting that game aside until some much needed patching is done.
I agree. Sony did a mighty fine job with an initial launch. I had a little bit of an issue with the disk drive not accepting disks after updating through a USB stick but luckily the system detected the error and downloaded the update itself and everything is running silk smooth. Now time to see how the Xbox One does.
I've had a great time with mine. Resogun is amazing and so was BF 4. I can't wait for these other games to come out like Soma, The Order, Infamous, Deep Down, Oddworld etc.
For the people who have the console, but don't have any game to play for it, try out the free-to-plays within the Playstation Store. Black Light: Retribution and Warframe is suggested.
Even though I'm a hardcore PC Gamer guy I'm definitely getting a PS4 this X-mas so I can enjoy on the couch with my daughter. Easy plug 'n play with very nice 1080p 60fps games, most of the games that are. Controller in hand for easy quick pick up and play without tinkering around like I do on the PC.
And I don't have a media pc etc. yet for the living room so this could be it.
Even if you do plan to get rid of Killzone Shadow Fall, don't trade it in! That's always a raw deal. Sell it online or something instead. You get real cash and more of it that way. :p
