  • The history I could find out on this house was actually pretty interesting! House was built around 1850. The original owner was a descendant of the Francis Scott key family. A distant cousin and the house would remain in the same family for majority of its life until the mid 1900’s. When the house was sold and then went through a couple of owners until ultimately ending up forgotten sometime in the late 1980’s. There was attempts too save the house and secure the roof but sadly now the house sits forgotten and crumbling away. Glad I could document it on video! Thanks for watching

Google "Octopus furnaces". The thing in the basement looked like an old Octopus furnace. It was old school heating using just hot air that would rise and heat the house.

What an interesting old house, looking beyond the graffiti it must have been glorious in it's day with it's beautiful matching barn. The staircase was fantastic. Kappy, you must cover vast distances to find these amazing old houses, hard for us Brits to have a concept of how large the States are but I appreciate your dedication. The very best channel for these fascinating places. Respect to you❤

WOW what a showplace this must have been, too bad it wasn't preserved before it was too late! I can only imagine what the entry looked like with that curved staircase, the whole house/barn sure is a showcase of pride of workmanship. Such a once grand farm must have belonged to an affluent family, the house looks to have been added on to with the stone/brick foundation, different staircases, and odd one stair step-ups. Sadly vandals seem to have a sixth sense when it comes to find historic things to ruin. Thanks Kappy, see you next time!

Oh wow , now that’s an OLD LADDER, with the skinny rounded rungs; they are the WORST LADDERS!
Our old family home ( a Tudor built in 1927) had a few of those old TALL ladders with the rounded rungs , to be used when the storm windows had to be taken down in the Soring, & the summer screens were hung up. And vice-versa back in the Fall..
and OH it was a joyous day when my Mom finally had the old windows replaced with new windows that matched the style of the house, & had the screens attached!
NO more rounded skinny runged ladders-they REALLY HURT your feet if you had sneakers on, and wearing boots was almost worse, your footing was hard to keep . lol your videos always seem to spark some memories, almost every house I’ve ever lived in, has been vintage!

Kappy, some of those staircases reminded me of M. C. Escher prints from lst century. That Cupola staircase was a nail biter, but then that whole place looked like it was in various stages of returning to the earth. Great old place with a frighteningly uncertain future, but isn't that the way with everything now days. Well it looks like the barn will be the first to collapse in on itself. Sad. Thank you for sharing all of these wonderful homes with us all over the Eastern US. This must have been a gorgeous Greek revival home in its day. I believe that may be a carriage house out back instead of a barn in back there but hard to say from just outside. But especially with all of the actual double-hung sash windows and the cupola on it. it reminds me of my own carriage house though smaller than this one. And Cupola is pronounced like chicken coop coopula haha. But seriously you are really so much appreciated for going all over and finding these gems hidden by years of old paint, dirt, and neglect or abandonment for decades. they must have been stunning when they were new.
Every time I used to go in one I always thought the owner carried his wife in there when they were married probably. or the first Christmas the house saw with its building original families. Or how many kid's laughter echoed in their walls and rooms over the centuries. I also think when the last parent died the children after removing all the family contents when they were preparing to sell them the last walkthrough they did seeing memories and places in each room special to them. And giving the old key to the new owners however far back that was in each home's history. And what they must have thought when they wired these houses most long after they were built and saw electric lights in them for the first time. That must have been spectacular to them. Most of those people and stories are probably now all long gone.

I really enjoyed this one. I was wondering why no fireplaces? I did notice the cutouts in some of the floors. Then you showed the big coal burning furnace in the basement. I always enjoy seeing how different places are heated or cooled. Thanks for showing that!
