If this does get a rework they really need to explain what Braum, yasuo, illaoi, and ahri were all doing while this was going on. It was explained that miss fortune was corrupted and became viego's foot soldier so that's explained, pyke actually showed up, but illaoi was absent. Riven was involved but yasuo was absent when it was highly implied that he was going to noxus to save her. Braum is a little bit easier to explain, you could say while the ruination was happening he was off on another adventure or protecting a village or something. As for ahri depending how long this takes place after the ruined king game you could say she learned all she could about her tribe in the shadow isles and returned to Ionia or something, but yes this really needs to be addressed

Thank you for making this recap. The event was very grindy and a there was a lot of characters that didn't act like themselves... so I just gave up and played for the rewards. However, I was interested in knowing what happened in the story. Your narration and editing are spot on!
this was way better than the way Riot actually presented the story. This actually made it feel decent, except for the ending which unfortunately was still pretty underwhelming. I really like how you worked in the Thresh stuff, made the whole thing feel like it was really building to his grand plan instead of the lame Viego stuff. Great work mate, gg

The despair in his face and voice after seeing his loved one die a second time, mere seconds after getting revived, realising that his 1000 year crusade, full of grieving and pain was for nothing... Indeed, this doesnt taste like a "happy ending" to me. I wished for viego to see some kind of gratifitacion, even if it could be wrong to reward bad behaviure and bla bla, but still, he was madly in love, to a bad level for sure, but i can't blame him. . .
I pity him, his story is such a tragedy, which creates a sort of sympathy for him but he was selfish and a narcissist In his eyes he was doing something right All this is what made him such an awesome Antagonist

Imagine how unfair, Lucian breaks the lantern and her soul just "escapes" and all is good, happy ending, Viego resurects Isolde and her soul just "shatters" what a joke.
Well tbh Isolde was killed by normal means and revived through some super magic waters, mean while Senna's soul was just sort of sucked up in to threshes Lantern. Isolde was DEAD dead while Senna was just sort of in Limbo, her being Sentinel of light prior to being sucked in is what made her different I would guess. But yea Viego did sort of get the short end of the stick.

Maybe Lucian could've at the very least felt some compassion with Viego's struggle but at the end of it all the means ultimately judged whether they're deserving or not.

Will power and what the soul wants probably has a big impact on the world of Runeterra I would say. So maybe if Isolde wanted to comeback all is well that ends well but it was stated clearly that she did not want to comeback and had resented Veigo for trying to bring her back, ie Her stabbing him in the chest with his sword.

What a well done, well edited, well written video. I've recently come back to League and become a Viego main and I'm just positively overwhelmed by the amazing amount of lore and content regarding my favorite champion. I just love his story. I've always fallen for the fantasy of pursuing a love so pure and strong that you'd do anything for it, and I identify myself with Viego in this fantasy. Not only that but I really enjoy tragic stories, and there is nothing more tragic than a man chained to his own emotions, destroying everything around himself for the selfish submission to a love stronger than life itself, his heart blackened by his sadness and grief, incapable of coping with the terrible experience of a loved one's death, that we all have to face one day. His story is hauntingly real and his design is not only very aesthetic, fitting my personal Devil May Cry fan criteria (abs out, giant sword, handsome badass guy doing crazy shit kinda stuff lol) and his colours are my favourite pallette. Practically a champion tailored for me, and don't get me started on his kit lol Anyways, what an excellent video man. You have a like and a sub from me E.Z.

This is an awesome vid, super glad I checked it out. Learned a few new things and the narration was on point both with the voiceover and game voices going back and forth. Can't wait to see what else comes out.
Reasons why Sentinel of Light is considered as the worst Story Event in LOL, espacially for people who dont LOL or have no Lore knowledge: 1.Blade of the ruined king is an Item in LOL and its desciption before Viegos announcement said something about the ruler of the Shadow Isles, who got driven by madness to conquer the Lands of Runeterra and spread the Black Mist. Before Viego, Mordekaiser was the warlord of the Shadow Isles but they redconed his Story after the Rework in 2019 and thats a big Problem because everybody expected a new Badass Overlord and not a Half naked Anime Boy. 2. The Lore was pretty inconsistent and had characters involved that just didnt fit in the lore like Pyke, who is an Undead Killer with a personality Disorder who just became a Sentinel of Light for no reason and no explaination how he managed to not kill everyone on his team. Rengar is also a good example, he is a hunter thats seekes after the biggest prey to proof that he is the ultimate hunter, which is kinda understandable that he hunts Viego but there is no explaintion how he knows from Viego and why did he team up with the Sentinel of Light because he is a lone hunter and the whole concept of his character is that he is a solo hunter to become the ultimate hunter. Graves is also a good example because he is an Outlaw, why should he became a Sentinel of Light. 3. They massacred my Boi Pantheon, Pantheon is a MAN named Atreus who climbed the Mount Targon to get the power of the Aspects but the Aspect of war Pantheon betrayed him and took over his Body, he then encountered Aatrox the Darkinblade (The Worldender, Godkiller, the End of all Existing) who pierced his sword into Pantheon and killed the Aspect of War . *the Aspect faded, Atreus-the man it had considered weak-awoke once more. Impaled upon Aatrox’s blade, and with the power of the Aspect’s weapons dimming, he took a ragged breath, and spit in the Darkin’s face. Aatrox sneered, and left Atreus to die. Hours later, as the crows descended, Atreus painfully stood back up, stumbling back to the Rakkor in a trail of blood. After a lifetime of defeat, his will to live, and his anger at betrayal, were enough to stave off the death that had claimed War itself.* Atreus later encounter Aatrox driven by rage and killed Aatrox with the power of the Aspects weapon which only exist in the face of death, he then became the Aspect of war himself. Driven by Rage against the Aspects who betrayed him, marching against the Aspects, Darkins and every other Celestial beeing to protect the Humans. In the Sentinel of Light however Viego corrupted Atreus and revived Pantheon which is impossible because Aatrox killed Pantheon and whiped him out of existing. 4. Champions like Maokai and Yorick who are a big Part of the lore around the Shadow Isles didn't even got Mentioned. 5. They made Thresh also a Half naked Anime Boy. 6. If Viego corrupted the whole World where the Hell is Azir the Shuriman God Emporer, the Aspects, Bard and Soraka the Celestials. 7. They Nerfed Diana and Pantheon in the Lore who are litteral Gods.
I think we figured out why this was complete trash. The ACTUAL writing team (and basically everyone competent) were all busy with the Arcane series so whatever left-overs remained were shoved onto this shit show of an event and story.

I think Riot legit forgot he existed (like a lot of the champions that were supposed to be associated with the Shadow Isles). For such a big event as the return of the Ruined King, Riot seems to have really forgotten/underutilized a fuckton of champions that already existed in Shadow Isles lore.
The lore of this event is such a messy piece of crap. Marketing gave them a list of the most popular champions, they picked the top of from each region and then gave an intern half an hour to come up with a backstory for why each of them joined. Like Graves! He can't rob anyone anymore if the world is destroyed, and obviously robbing is his passion! Not to get enough coin to live comfortably or something, nope, just robbing for its own sake. Taken right from Dora the Explorer. I bet he robbed them at the end there, after the cinematic. And then he robbed himself on the way home, so he had no money so he could rob more people. Also Olaf joined to find a glorious death, but he wasn't there in the finale because despite searching for the ultimate fight, he somehow didn't want to go up against the ultimate opponent. Makes sense!
Is the Ruined King story (The one seen here 24:47) a sequel to this story? Cause seeing Sarah Fortune joining the King felt like a plot hole if this is a prequel, even if she was just possessed, also the Way Thresh released the King in the Ruined King story doesn't line up with the way he was imprisoned here... or is there something I missed?
this should be the official riot games summary of that event even tho theres some missed points like -the ending of the ruined king game -diana being a SENTINEL (really an aspect who can wield god powers somehow choose a mortal weapon to defeat the mist eh?), -the runeblade of riven got changed (ik its for skin purpose but still) -the blades of irelia -how theres literary no one in the shadow isle besides thresh got involved like where is kalista, ledros, yorick(ik he's there but really just a CAMEO?) or EVEN hecarim -what would be the consequences if the sentinels just let viego have the fetters? -atreus probably have the strongest resolve to any mortal then he somehow lost to viego in the battle of wits? -vayne instantly being friends with the sentinels? who uses m a g i c, she literary killed her mentor when she found out she used magic to save her -somehow demacia didnt retaliate? -swain didnt foresee this event? -we dont talk about the inconsistency of details between the visual novel, cinematic and comics -vex importance w h e r e? thats just my take on this mess of a event and sorry in advance if my grammar is bad or wrong

The level of editing and narration makes this event looks successful.. Riot Company needs you, need this kind of video. Always wanted a tease/videos from Riot that can tied up and make a whole video, just like Lucian's part of sailing to shadow isles and facing Thresh, those videos are 2 separate videos but can be tied up to make a continuous storyline video.

I see what they are trying to do here but seems all their creative writing got into arcane and stuff and that the characters got less dimensional or a bit square in this event.
Small fact he missed about Vex. Vex only join Viego because of his goal of darkness and despair. When she learn that Viego true goal was of love and the persuit of his own happiness, she thought Viego was a traitor and leave his side, returning to his home where his parents recieve her with love, making her feel disgust and leaving, once again, to the Shadow Isles.
i still cant believe that the atreus/pantheon was just "defeated" so easily, or the fact that karma was corrupted due to unexplainable guilt, very weird writing. but still this video was very well made
I feel bad about Viego, why can't they make story with happy ending his girl get back from dead, Vigeo and her walk away and live happy forever. And for the rest well they can stay alive fighting Tresh.
I mean can his girl really blame him? He does all this just to try and get her back, but then dismisses him. Seems to me she never really loved him. And obsession? Well love is also desire. So if he desired to be with her so much that he'd be able to sacrifice everything how does that make him the bad guy? It kind of wasn't fair how she died, it's difficult to let go of that.
I imagine that some time has passed already since Isolde died and waging war with another country would take some time as well so the only reasonable explanation I could think of is that perhaps they froze Isolde's corpse until they can put her in the healing waters.

1.Blade of the ruined king is an Item in LOL and its desciption before Viegos announcement said something about the ruler of the Shadow Isles, who got driven by madness to conquer the Lands of Runeterra and spread the Black Mist. Before Viego, Mordekaiser was the warlord of the Shadow Isles but they redconed his Story after the Rework in 2019 and thats a big Problem because everybody expected a new Badass Overlord and not a Half naked Anime Boy.
2. The Lore was pretty inconsistent and had characters involved that just didnt fit in the lore like Pyke, who is an Undead Killer with a personality Disorder who just became a Sentinel of Light for no reason and no explaination how he managed to not kill everyone on his team. Rengar is also a good example, he is a hunter thats seekes after the biggest prey to proof that he is the ultimate hunter, which is kinda understandable that he hunts Viego but there is no explaintion how he knows from Viego and why did he team up with the Sentinel of Light because he is a lone hunter and the whole concept of his character is that he is a solo hunter to become the ultimate hunter. Graves is also a good example because he is an Outlaw, why should he became a Sentinel of Light.
3. They massacred my Boi Pantheon, Pantheon is a MAN named Atreus who climbed the Mount Targon to get the power of the Aspects but the Aspect of war Pantheon betrayed him and took over his Body, he then encountered Aatrox the Darkinblade (The Worldender, Godkiller, the End of all Existing) who pierced his sword into Pantheon and killed the Aspect of War . *the Aspect faded, Atreus-the man it had considered weak-awoke once more. Impaled upon Aatrox’s blade, and with the power of the Aspect’s weapons dimming, he took a ragged breath, and spit in the Darkin’s face. Aatrox sneered, and left Atreus to die. Hours later, as the crows descended, Atreus painfully stood back up, stumbling back to the Rakkor in a trail of blood. After a lifetime of defeat, his will to live, and his anger at betrayal, were enough to stave off the death that had claimed War itself.*
Atreus later encounter Aatrox driven by rage and killed Aatrox with the power of the Aspects weapon which only exist in the face of death, he then became the Aspect of war himself. Driven by Rage against the Aspects who betrayed him, marching against the Aspects, Darkins and every other Celestial beeing to protect the Humans.
In the Sentinel of Light however Viego corrupted Atreus and revived Pantheon which is impossible because Aatrox killed Pantheon and whiped him out of existing.
4. Champions like Maokai and Yorick who are a big Part of the lore around the Shadow Isles didn't even got Mentioned.
5. They made Thresh also a Half naked Anime Boy.
6. If Viego corrupted the whole World where the Hell is Azir the Shuriman God Emporer, the Aspects, Bard and Soraka the Celestials.
7. They Nerfed Diana and Pantheon in the Lore who are litteral Gods.
I love this kind of Story telling, keep up the good work! Do all Champion's Lore!

I think we figured out why this was complete trash. The ACTUAL writing team (and basically everyone competent) were all busy with the Arcane series so whatever left-overs remained were shoved onto this shit show of an event and story.

I think Riot legit forgot he existed (like a lot of the champions that were supposed to be associated with the Shadow Isles).
For such a big event as the return of the Ruined King, Riot seems to have really forgotten/underutilized a fuckton of champions that already existed in Shadow Isles lore.
The lore of this event is such a messy piece of crap. Marketing gave them a list of the most popular champions, they picked the top of from each region and then gave an intern half an hour to come up with a backstory for why each of them joined.
Like Graves! He can't rob anyone anymore if the world is destroyed, and obviously robbing is his passion! Not to get enough coin to live comfortably or something, nope, just robbing for its own sake. Taken right from Dora the Explorer. I bet he robbed them at the end there, after the cinematic. And then he robbed himself on the way home, so he had no money so he could rob more people.
Also Olaf joined to find a glorious death, but he wasn't there in the finale because despite searching for the ultimate fight, he somehow didn't want to go up against the ultimate opponent. Makes sense!

Cause seeing Sarah Fortune joining the King felt like a plot hole if this is a prequel, even if she was just possessed, also the Way Thresh released the King in the Ruined King story doesn't line up with the way he was imprisoned here...

-diana being a SENTINEL (really an aspect who can wield god powers somehow choose a mortal weapon to defeat the mist eh?),

Would have been cool - if they didn't utterly ruin it with Senna, Lucian, Graves etc. They needed the originals like Yorick, Hecarim, Kalista, Thresh etc.
yorick and any champ from the shadow isles lore should've been included more into this. i'm very disappointed how this turned out nothing but a marketing scheme for new champs that riot quickly popped out their ass. whole thing looks like a cheesy avengers film lmfao.

I see what they are trying to do here but seems all their creative writing got into arcane and stuff and that the characters got less dimensional or a bit square in this event.
Small fact he missed about Vex. Vex only join Viego because of his goal of darkness and despair. When she learn that Viego true goal was of love and the persuit of his own happiness, she thought Viego was a traitor and leave his side, returning to his home where his parents recieve her with love, making her feel disgust and leaving, once again, to the Shadow Isles.
This whole thing was made only sale the sentinel skins let’s be honest

I imagine that some time has passed already since Isolde died and waging war with another country would take some time as well so the only reasonable explanation I could think of is that perhaps they froze Isolde's corpse until they can put her in the healing waters.
