- BRAINTREE, MA (December 13, 2012) -- Yesterday's historic 12/12/12 date proved to be very lucky for two coworkers in Massachusetts after the quick pick ticket they purchased together matched all five numbers plus the Power Ball selected in the Wednesday, December 12, 2012 drawing to win the multi-state game's $50 million jackpot.
Rosa DeLeon of Arlington and Reginald LeBlanc of Lexington, who are coworkers at Costco in nearby Waltham, Massachusetts, have been jointly purchasing two tickets for the twice-weekly drawn game over the past 10 months.
The coworkers elected to receive the $33,003,300 lump sum cash option on the prize and after taxes will receive a one-time check for $23,102,310. They plan to split the winnings evenly.
DeLeon, a 52 year old married mother of five, plans to buy a house and to take care of her family with the winnings. LeBlanc, who is 54 and single, also plans to buy a home and will be investing in dental work which he has been unable to afford until now.
DeLeon and LeBlanc purchased their winning ticket at Lexington Shell located at 915 Waltham Street in Lexington. The store owner will also benefit from this jackpot win by receiving a $50,000 commission for selling the lucky ticket.

$25M is not enough. After taxes they got $15M. If they live like celebrities. They will go broke in 10 years or less. In order to live like celebrities. They need at least $100M after taxes. Invest $75M and live off the interest for the rest of your life. You will literally have a printing money machine!

@@Eric345 - this was in 2012 so tax rate was 35% for IRS/Federal (all together, 25% up front the rest in April come tax collecting day), then Ma taxes any winnings over $600 at 5% as income. Cash value at 33M which leaves them with around 19.8M to spend or invest. Still not enough to live above their current means unless it was wisely invested for growth more than loss.
Joshua79C C No is not. In order to get great returns they’ll have to invest most of it. Meaning low cash flow. Meaning not enough to give out millions to family members or live an ultra wealthy life. Just an upper class lifestyle.

It never worked for me.
I used to run a syndicate.
I gave the members copies of the numbers we played and the tickets.
We had a legally binding contract to prevent any misunderstandings.
We agreed we didn't want any publicity and had it written into the contract that we would not seek publicity, if anyone decided they did want to go public, they would not identify the other members of the syndicate.
It worked really well for us.

Coming out publicly like they did instead of taking the private route the state allows and having a legal representative to do the public address on their behalf of their named trust would have been the safer way to collect their winnings. Advertised jackpot is for the annuity value, they took the 33 M cash value payout and after taxes of 25% Federal/IRS up front (another up to 10% at that time come tax time in April) and then there's MA state income tax cut of 5% for any amount over $600, leaves them with around ... $19.8 million

YES! The Lottery in this country should not be taxed like it is. CANADA does not tax its Lottery. BINGO games are not taxed as far as I know. So why are lottery players taxed when they win? The dollar people spend on a ticket has been taxed so much, the ink is fading. I feel its just Greed. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. All the money should go to the winner. And the taxes here are mostly the IRS aka Federal at 35% at the time this couple won in 2012, the rest is owed at tax time in April. Then each state has a tax, six of which do not impose a state tax, NYC residents pay the most as much as 8.82% goes to state and NYC municipal funds take 3.876%. MA residents pay only 5% (not sure about what municipalities here also take a cut of their own). 33M Cash value and after the taxes they get to see 19.8M, and of course anything they previously owed will also have to get paid.

Advertised is the annuity estimated value, cash value which it is based on is noted on many state lottery and lottery news websites, Nothing fake about any of it, you are just an ignorant person.
