If I won big on the lottery like that I wouldn’t tell anyone apart from family and I would keep it private but I would give a lot to charity and help out where I can.

You go public for a few reasons. You want to stay local in the area. You have a lot of friends/family etc. When you tell people about the win, there is the risk that they let slip or if you fall out..they do it deliberately.
