Saurous - Global Defence Force

Saurous is a giant dinosaur-like creature who bares a slight resemblence to the monster Gomora. In the game 'Global Defence Force' he appears in four different forms. Saurous, Mecha Saurous, Baby Saurous and Mega Saurous.
His offensives include a rush attack, and two types of breath attack. One which blasts in a straight line, and one which sweeps from side to side. Mecha Saurous has a laser breath attack instead of the normal fire, as well as a grenade attack fired from his chest, and a rocket attack fired from his back.
I've recorded these levels on easy just to get through them quicker, but if you havn't played Global Defence Force, at least you can see what you missed!

they actually brought this mission back in Earth Defense Force World Brothers. it starts out against 2 small Saurous,
once you kill them an absolutely massive version appears. i love how many references World Brothers has.

You see, thats how you make a game, so many shitty expensive titles, and this simple budget one is fucking AWESOME !!!!

@EATIT41 Yeah the first main is "New Game, Continue, Versus" then the next menu is "Play, Choose Equipment, Save, Game Setting, Title Screen" so it's not complicated to navigate.

@jr2nd It has been a while since I've played that level, but I remember having to shoot every gun/laser on the underside of the thing. Takes a while though, but don't leave anything on the bottom of it. 'Shoot everything!' :)

@RabidKanid I was playing on easy mode so the videos would be quicker. There are five difficulties, the hardest one is insane!
I like how you used Godzilla's theme from Maximum Impact for the loading screens. I was wondering though, I ordered a copy of G.D.F from amazon.co.uk. Do you know if it will work on my PS2 I live in the states and heard that PAL games dont work on NTSC Playstations
If anyone wants to play this game it's on PSVITA along with a whole bunch of other hidden gem titles.
People pay the system no mind. But it's good.

I really love this game me and my brother always play this
once you got some high level rocket launcher (it basicaly lauch nuke) you could one hit kill every giant boss

@PopInPicsPresents Afraid not. You could get it imported but you'd need an imported machine too. Maybe they'll release it on PSN some day is PS2 titles ever arrive.
However, they did release 'Earth Defence Force 2017' for the Xbox 360 in North America. It looks better, runs smoother and features a lot of the same enemies and gameplay.
The only thing it doesn't have is Saurous! Although, there is this other red dragon thing. The game's worth a look if you can find it. :)
I remember watching this as a kid. NOW IM 21. AHHAHAHAHAHAHA. lol jk. Im about to get EDF 2 for the vita and I'm curious. Does this boss have multiple types on the vita version of EDF 2 or is it onlt on the the Ps2 version of this game where it has multiple copies of the same monsters, some either being big small of cyborg. I mean this is the only Kaiju type monster in this, the rest are robots and bugs and stuff.

i have the ability to play this game. so are the menus and gameplay easy to navigate dispite it being a japanese game? cus i have the ultraman fighting games adn they re reletivly easy to navigate

@EVILODDO I don't think PS2 PAL games will work on a NTSC PS2 I'm afraid :( Although I've never tested it. PS3 games are region free and work on both. You might be able to pick up a cheap PAL PS2 console on ebay.co.uk, but you'll need to then also purchase a 'step-up converter' to plug it into so it works on your native power supply.
Also, there is a new 'Earth Defence Force' game being made for Xbox 360 and I think PS3. However it's not being made by the same people anymore.

Or just use a modded PS2, could have just said that instead of typing a novel out about importing.
There's also a screen fix to patch ISOs from PAL to NTSC, all this stuff is really easy to find and worth it. Google is everyones friend!

EDF Insect Armageddon for PS3 and XBOX 360 and EDF 2017 For XBOX 360 is better.
