  • I was very lucky at Christmas 2022 and I was gifted two new Wolf Garten tools for use at the allotment!
I've put the Soil Miller and the push / pull weeder through their paces and I've been very impressed and pleased with the results!
The Soil Miller in particular was very efficient at turning over some weedy ground and making an instant impact.
The Push/Pull Weeder was surprisingly light weight and made light work of weeding a light covering of weeds and topping some more heavy duty ones here and there.
Both are well worth the investment if you have some Wolf Garten tools or the interchangeable handle system (quick mention to ‪@JBNat‬ who was looking at the Soil Miller!)
If it helps, these are the links to the handle and tool heads reviewed in this video:

Awesome to see! I need to get my hands on one of those millers for sure!

Definitely! I couldn't get a proper close up due to my equipment - the swoe slices the top inch of the soil and the tines rotovate it. It worked quite well even in the wet soil. I think it will be my go to bed prep tool and a swoe / push/pull weeder for mid season use with crops in. If you were in the market for other tool heads in the range down the line it could be justified more than a one off purchase (maybe 🤔😉) Cheers, Andy.

Happy new year to you too! I was made up and couldn't wait for the rain to stop to try them out. The soil miller must have been a pain to wrap up! I can't image how much paper they used for your dual wheelbarrow! 😂 Enjoy using it!

How do you think this would fair against a heavily weeded plot and turf?
This review has me hovering over the buy it now button.

I think tbh if you used it straight on the grass and turf and weeds you’d not get through and might break it. You’d be better covering the area to exclude light and kill the weeds and then use it to break the soil over afterwards I think. Still a worthwhile purchase though. Cheers, Andy

With the soil miller, would you recommend it for tilling garden borders?

    • @beansbrewsandbread
      @beansbrewsandbread  7 месяцев назад +1

Depends if you want to clear an area back to scratch? It’s great for covering a large area for fresh planting, but if you are working around established plants it’s not probably great for “fine” / delegate weeding. You could use it in combination with a push /pull hoe or a swoe? Hope that helps? Cheers, Andy.

How is the push pull weeder holding up? Does it get much use. Thinking of getting one as I need some kind of weeding hoe. Not sure if I should get the Wolf Garten Swoe how or the push pull weeder or maybe both.

Hi there! I used it after forking over the old carrot / leek bed and it certainly helped breaking up the ground. Its going to get another outing over the next few weeks after I take out the broad beans and the early potatoes.
It is a big outlay though and I borrowed one to try out from a plot neighbour before taking the plunge (well - asking for one for Christmas!). If you can - give one a trial run.
I have the swoe as well - I may do a video on some of these other tools soon! That's more affordable and could be a decent starting point if you want to try out the range!
      Hope that helps? Cheers, Andy

The rotary tiller is a great tool especially if your bad shoulder makes pushing easier than dragging. However, I'm on my third one in 5 years ... the axle fasteners break much too easy

It's a good tool but pretty hopeless on wet soil

It was pretty wet when I tried it and it seemed to get through the soil quite well. Perhaps the hoe needs a sharpen on yours? I could imagine it might dull after a few uses and work less efficiently in wet soil?

Presumably not meant to be used on wet soil 😊
