I overhauled a Linton last week. With a good bocal and reed this bassoon will do what you want. These are not to be underestimated or dismissed. I think the paint job looks great. Props to Mr. King for all the work.

This felt sacrilegious in the best way

You easily increased the value of this Linton by $500-$1,000+. There's no telling what this would do to a Heckel or Bell!

I'm so glad you shared this. I was really curious after seeing your post on FB with the painted mini bassoon. I wonder if you should have scuffed up the surface first with a bit of sanding? Do you think it will chip off the springs or have any negative impact on the springs over time? It looks awesome! How did it play? The same?

The paint definitely chips off of the springs! The bassoon plays the same, it had paint smell for 2 days but its gone now. I thought about sanding it but there are so many small detailed areas between posts that I don't think I could do a very even job.
