    I love love love your videos!! There are so many RUclipsrs out there creating minimalist content that add so much fluff and cinema to their videos and I truly appreciate how your videos are just so informative and to the point and that’s what we are here for to learn how to minimize and live simply!! I've been scanning documents that I want to keep - including cards and letters - and only keeping paper versions of legal docs like real estate and taxreturns. It takes A bit of time to set up but is pretty easy to maintain.

    I 1000% percent agree that the taxes should just be taken out of our paycheck instead of us having to file every year. I get really stressed out doing my taxes and wish it wasn’t so complicated. I also don’t like that we have to pay money to file taxes and think it’s absurd that it’s a legal requirement to do this, yet they never teach this in school.

    • @minimalease
      @minimalease  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes 100% Yes! Why is this not clear and easy and why are we not taught this in school if it is so important!

      Taxes are withheld from your paycheck. Not everyone gets a paycheck though, like when you are self employed. I wish they would go to a flat tax where you are taxed when you spend money ( sales tax) not on your income.

    I went through my paperwork whilst I was listening to you & was surprised at how much I found, I only went through my paperwork yesterday but missed this file. I've been decluttering clothes & random household stuff this week, tbh I could get rid of mostly everything that's not essential, apart from some books, sentimental items & a few other things, but I have a partner & 5 cats and it's a compromise with what others need & love aswell ❤️

    All the printed photos from the pre-digital age in my house (I’m 65 with 3 adult children) have been put in a few photo albums. Now I am redoing them in smaller albums, discarding even more than I did over several culls when they went into the original albums.

      @laurac56 - I have pondered doing this with my 48 years of albums! I have ten albums now with all of our photos from 1976 to present in them. Now I'm thinking that I kept too many! Shall I go through again? (I'm not sure any of my seven kids and their families will want them as I gave each one a pile of their own photos to deal with) I could sincerely use suggestions as I spent money on each album and wrote to explain each photo.......or am I just making more work for myself? (In case anyone has read this far, I am rambling.....) hehe

    • @laurac56
      @laurac56 10 месяцев назад

      @@debnelson3979 If your children or other family members are not going to want your albums and you don’t want the quantity for yourself, I would choose the best from the ten and either make one album for your own use, or several small (and I mean SMALL) albums that you can enjoy now and might interest someone years from now. Inheriting ten albums would scare the heck out of me. Only keep what YOU want.

      @@laurac56 - Thanks for your wisdom! I guess there really isn't the need to go down memory lane for that many albums. You gave me good, solid advice and I appreciate it very much! Adding "downsize albums" to my list!

    ♥ We do the opposite... my partner handles the bills (with the exception of our Costco Mastercards) and I just did our taxes, so I dealt with paperwork then.
    More recently, I went through photos, which feels very much like going through paperwork because it causes so much decision fatigue dealing with so many items.

      Photos are hard! I've been through my Mom's photos she has hundreds and it is fun until you have to start throwing them away and that is so mentally exhausting!

    I've worked in both University administration snd at the Birth, deaths, and marriages registry. Absolutely hang onto the testamurs, transcripts, etc. theyre replaceable but expensive and can take AGES to replace. I have had calls from people who had missed out on a job, a house, etc for not having these documents on hand.
    I live in Australia - we have an immunisation history statement which covers ALL of pur vaccines in one document. Is there something like that where you live? X

    • @minimalease
      @minimalease  10 месяцев назад +1

      We have a document of things I was vaccinated for as a child but I only have a physical copy. I wonder if it’s on the record anywhere online? Probably now for my daughter but I don’t know if they did that in the 80’s when I was born.. I still have my transcripts gahh for the exact reason you mentioned! They are expensive to replace and you need them right away. Thanks so much for sharing your insight especially from Australia!

  • @amandaa225

    recommend saving the transcript & vaccines to your email or google drive - no need to keep physical copy :)
