I'm pretty sure it's just to help you get over the cliff, if you've turned on safe jump then it appears when your about to go over the log. If that's what you referring too that is!
is it just a glitch that the middle stone grave isn’t able to be interacted with to have a flower placed on it? I see you struggled to do that and I haven’t been able to do it either

to be duskfall's mate Train with him until you become a warrior + go on 2 patrols to be a warrior As a warrior, make him ask you to battle train, say no (tip: if you DO battle train and he says "Goodness, [character name]! You're getting too strong for me! I mean... I still want you to practice with me.", you're on the right track) After you say no, he should ask you to walk to the shore At the shore, repeatedly step into the water until he begins to shout When he runs up to you in the cutscene, click the option on the right now he should be your mate!
